Me, my husband and our 22 month old daughter just spent a wonderful 10 days at Alcudia Pins. I have nothing but high praise for the hotel, its amenities and it’s lovely, friendly staff.

ROOMS – Ibiza Block. Although we had to move rooms from the first one we were in because it was far too noisy next to the entrance and you could hear the very loud noise from the evening entertainment, the very helpful and understanding staff moved us to another one bedroom apartment in Ibiza block the next day. The room was a good size and cleaned to a good standard. The one down side was the fold out camp beds were a bit squeaky! On our final day we paid 10 Euros and got to keep our room till 2pm – a godsend with a small child.

FOOD – Anyone who complains about the food here is mad or must have a very strange diet normally. The main buffet restaurant had a fabulous choice of international and local food every day. The waiters and waitresses were really friendly and worked very hard to clear tables quickly. Meat and fish can be cooked to your liking in front of you daily. Super range of food for children too. The Green and Grill buffet has a smaller choice but still of a high quality, plus the added bonus of a fantastic view of the sea. The Gala night was lovely with amazing steak and a shark on display! Ice cream and ice pops available all day.

DRINKS – Lovely friendly and funny bar staff. Estrella on tap and bottles of cold still and fizzy water all day. Fizzy pop available to serve yourself at the Green and Grill all day.

POOLS – Brilliant! Huge main pool and other pools available mean that even though there are a lot of families in the hotel the pools never feel stupidly full. Also great with a small child who changes their mind a lot as to where they want to be! Super slides, splash pools and a great baby pool with a shaded area so they can play in the pool even in the middle of the day. Loved the fact there is no music playing around the pool all day (apart from half an hour when they are doing aqua aerobics). People are up stupidly early to reserve sunbeds but the hotel are great in enforcing the rule of no reserving before 10am so if you leave it you lose it! We always found sunbeds overlooking the beach even when coming down after breakfast about 9:30am.

FACILITIES – AMAZING! The hotel has been very well thought out with families in mind eg. Brilliant shady playground and football pitch next to where the stage is so parents can sit in one place and their children can play in several different places within eyesight. There is a lovely baby lounge next to the baby pool with microwave, toilet, cots. “The hangout” for teens - hidden away place overlooking the beach. Fish in the entrance to the hotel. Bikes to hire outside the hotel. Our daughter was too young to go to the kids clubs but we did use the inside soft play area which was great for her to let off steam in the shade. Our daughter was in bed by 9pm but she asked nightly to go and watch the children dancing and to see Thompson the Dog. Johnny Rocks and Anna Banana and the team work REALLY hard to engage and entertain the children. There is a shop next to the baby pool selling papers, inflatables etc and a supermarket on site both which are well stocked and reasonably priced.

We also hired a car (using a company recommended by the front desk) and for £50 we got a Peugeot 208 with a car set for a day. This cut down the 50min bus journey to Puerto Pollensa to about 20mins and was well worth it.

BEACH – one of the main reasons why this is our second time in Playa De Muro. Clear, clean, warm and shallow. Everything you want with a small child. Yes there are people on the beach asking you if you want your hair braiding or trying to sell you sunglasses but there are hardly any and if you say “no thankyou” they don’t pester you. Some people have complained that you have to pay for sun loungers but this is a public beach so what do you expect?! A lovely pier to walk down and feed the (very hungry) fish.

A particular mention for; Mira on Reception for being so helpful, Santiago collecting glasses by the pool for smiling constantly all day, Carmen and Ameria the waitresses (don’t know if spelt right) for being so friendly with our daughter and for the amazing men around the pool at night time who we watched from our balcony doing an incredible job at tidying up everyone’s mess at the end of the day.

Our one negative for our holiday (and the fault of Thomson and not the hotel) was the transfer on our return trip. We got picked up at 2:30pm (for a 6:15 flight). The bus then did pick ups in Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa, back to Alcudia and then finally onto the airport. 2 hours and 15 mins later. Not at all what you want with a small child (or as a pregnant lady who needs the toilet a lot).

The highest praise I can give this hotel is that we have never thought about returning to a hotel year after year but we will be DEFINITELY be returning here!!

We want to thank you for choosing Alcudia Pins for your holiday and we hope that your return here is soon.
We are very grateful with your nice description and detailed opinion about our pools, activities, entertainment and room, but the most important part of your review for us is when you mentioned our staff, as this makes them feel important and proud of their job, and the variety and quality of food and drinks.
As we keep improving our services and facilities we hope we surprise you on your next visit.

Booked through Thompsons, flight out at 8.30 am, flight back at 10.30am, don't save money by going for the late flights, they sound grim.

The transfer is fairly long, probably 90 minutes.

Check in was great, it took no time at all, they explained the restaurants and amenities. They also gave us a voucher for 4 beach towels which you exchange in the shop. No cost, unless you want to exchange for clean towels after a few days when they charged €1 each. Safe was about €17 for 10 days with a €5 deposit, all sorted at check in.

Room was ok, bit dark but very clean and had been modernised, we were in block H which is furthest from the pool. Kids had a sofa bed which was fine for 11 and 8 year olds but I'd imagine that it might start to get a little uncomfortable by the time they reach 14-15. Bathroom had bath with shower attachment, never any problem with hot water.

Main restaurant had a great choice of food, really well cooked by friendly staff, waiting staff also really pleasant. Kids choices were the usual fare but get them eating everything, plenty of fish, paella, grilled meats and pasta were on offer so need to stick to nuggets and chips.

Breakfast in the main restaurant also pretty good, lots of choice and never too busy.

We tried to go to the main restaurant after 8pm in the evening as it was less busy and for breakfast after 9am for the same reason.

A lot of people were getting breakfast early so they could get to the sunbeds. There are hundreds but all taken by 10am. I would tend to go down after breakfast at 9.30 and most mornings would be lucky enough to bag a couple but I did see people going down at 7am. It was a desperate sight. We bought a couple of air beds and went to the beach which is near to the main pool, the sea is warm and far less crowded than the pool an dthe sunbed area around it.

Drinks were available all day, lunch from 12-4. If you have an early start coming home there was breakfast available from 6am.

Entertainment was really average but I'm not sure I've ever really been taken by hotel entertainment.

Our kids didn't use the clubs, but from what we saw, they seemed to be really welll run by staff that cared about the job. All the entertainment staff and hotel staff in general were helpful and friendly. Every morning a squad of cleaners were employed throughout the hotel, leaving it spotless.

Guests seemed to be mainly Scandinavian and German, definately far more than British, not sure if this is down to the hotel ownership or location and this made for a pleasant change, in fact I don't think I saw a single football shirt.

In summary, the hotel and ammenities are all fine, nothing spectacular. The biggest selling points are the lovely beach on your doorstep and the location, which allows you in to Alcudia, Pollensa and Ca'n Picafort within 20 minutes for €6 for a family of four on the bus.

Room Tip: We were in block H, it was quiet. Blocks A and B are near the pool, if that's your bag.

We have just returned from a 10 day family holiday. We normally choose adults only as we are seniors so we didn't really know what to expect. We had a great holiday and the grand kids loved every minute. Ours rooms were very good. We believe some are dated but ours looked as though it had been updated recently. The food was good with plenty of choices in the various restaurants. Staff and reps were very friendly and all worked very hard to make everyone's holiday enjoyable. I would like to say a special thank you to OUMY who looked after our room and always greeted us with a big smile. The pool areas are very good with various types of slides etc. towels are removed from sun beds before 10 am unless you stay with them. One little niggle..... There is a separate pool which is called the 'relax' pool. It has no slides or anything. The only problem was that it was always full of children with inflatables and jumping or dive bombing in. I think they should at least restrict the inflatables so that anyone wishing to swim could do so. Apart from that we had a lovely holiday and can recommend to anyone with children.

Got back 2 days ago from a week all inc at alcudia pins. Went with Thompson, and regretted booking the cheap flight! Arrived at 4am and return flight was 3 am!!! Never again!. We were last off the coach as there was quite a few other hotel stops before ours. The rooms are very small and the beds are extremely uncomfortable, I had a bad back every morning due to the very poor mattresses. I believe the beds in police cells are more comfy (not that i would know!) The walls are very thin and you can here everything in the other rooms. Liz and lee in the room next door should be on bloody jeremy kyle! The entertainment was naff, very child orientated. Although, the reps did work hard to try and give everyone a good time. The entertainment went on till gone 11 so if your in a room near it, you can't go to bed till at least then! The football pitch was brilliant as my son was there all night, every night. The food was little more than average (we only ate in the main buffet). The sunbed situation is a joke, if your not there by 9am, you won't get 1 till late afternoon. They are also very close to each other. The facilities are good, as is the beach but I would not go back to this hotel purely because of the rooms! Also, Wifi is crap, can only get it near the foyer! Next year, same island, different resort!

We just arrived home this morning so I'm writing the review whilst everything is still fresh in my head. Upon arrival at the hotel at 4am we were swiftly checked in and the reception staff are quite friendly. 1st morning I attempted to reserve 3 sun loungers while we caught breakfast. Need less to say our towels were removed but they're easy to get back. It seems there's a rule for some not to reserve the loungers whereas other peoples towels are left on they're reserved beds. ( make of that what you will). The food is pretty decent, always a good choice at evening dinner in the buffet restaraunt whereas breakfast is the same everyday but I enjoyed the crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. For snacks we ate at the green grill restaraunt and again pretty repetitive but food was always to a good standard.

Our kids never really bothered with the kids clubs but you can see that the entertainers are really good with kids. The evening entertainment overall is good, maybe the odd night where it's abit iffy but don't forget this hotel is trying to cater for Brits,Scandinavians and other Europeans. The clowns were abit annoying but the kids loved them. My one and only gripe at night is it's as if the surface water drain is connected to the sewage drain and you can really smell it next to the bar every now and again. Wifi can't cope with the demand but apart from 3 small issues we had a top holiday. Our family room was pretty spacious as we'll with a big balcony.

Definitely recommend this resort at playa de Muro to anyone with kids upto 13 yrs old as they'll really enjoy it

Room Tip: We got a pool view family room but I'd try for sea view room as the view looks excellent

We take this opportunity to thank your opinion about your time in Alcudia Pins.
We will congratulate the night recepcionists if they did a good job on your check in.
Regarding reservation of sunbeds, we want to explain again, that our rule is to remove all the towels unattended, from all the pool areas.
We also want to inform that everybody who have food included, can use 2 different restaurants with different menus in each of it. We are glad you enjoyed the food.
We thank you for letting us know about the issues we need to work on and hope you come back soon with your friends and family.
