We are currently staying at the hotel with our 6 month old baby. Everything which has been reported with regards to the 80's decoration, having to pay 10 Euro for two sunbeds, having to get up early to try to get a sunbed etc are true. Also the food is excellent, and I am a bit of a foodie and a concerned eater in wanting to eat healthy, this is very possible and the food I have eaten have mainly been big salads mixed myself.
The problem I have with the place is mainly the horrible noise everywhere, from hearing everyone moving their furniture around in their apartments, to the extreme noise in the restaurant (meaning our baby can't spend much time there so all our meals are rushed) to the music etc at night. This is mostly geared towards the tourist/family whom likes to go on chartered trips and don't have much experience with a "proper" luxury vacation, the people in the suburbs I imagine (no pun intended).
We decided to go here because the weather and location is great, and because we have a baby we thought it would be great (they are very accommodating towards children which of course is wonderful).
Actually we had booked and payed 6 months prior to our trip and 1 week prior to departure we were told the hotel was full and we had been moved to another totally different hotel, not on the ocean etc, thankfully our travel agent (small private Swedish) knew the right people at Iberostar and we were able to keep our reservation.. but as I have read this has happened to other people, I think this is one of the risks by booking this hotel.
The reception staff is great, the cleaning people are great.. but still not my cup of tea as I don't like chartered trips and prefer not to spend all my vacation time surrounded by people whom speak german and smoke.

Room Tip: We stayed in block 5 on the 4th floor which I think is.. the best location possible to get the top floor would have been the absolute best.. but still noisy.

Dear guest,

First of all we want to say thank you for writing this review, in Iberostar Alcudia Park our main priority is to make sure that all our guests, regardless where they come from, feel very well attended and have the holiday of their lives. Therefore we encourage you to contact the reception with any concern or any petition you might have.

Our outstanding staff is more than willing to take your needs in consideration and they will be happy to try and search for convenient solutions in order to give you the quietness and privacy you’re looking for.

Regarding your comment about the sun beds on the beach we would like to point out that it is a public beach and this is why we can´t have free loungers there. It is the city hall that manages the exploitation of Mallorca´s coasts and beaches.

Further we are delighted to read that our child friendly accommodation, unbeatable location, immaculate cleaning service and culinary offer are of your liking. We believe that this is an excellent base to enjoy your long awaited holiday and we hope that you will take many wonderful memories back home to Denmark.

Thank you once more for writing about your stay; this gives us the chance to learn how we can still improve your experience among us and to us that is what most matters.

Kindest regards,

We booked the Alcudia Park Hotel as a secondry choice for our main holidays in August
because we wanted to fly from a local airport (Exeter) with day flights over a weekend.
This decision proved to be a good one.
We did have some major probs with the initial booking as we wanted to have a room with a balcony.
Thomas Cooks rooms in this hotel only supply non-balcony rooms although the hotels main webpage clearly states that all rooms have a balcony.
This resulted in us booking a room without a balcony!
We tried and tried to re-book a balcony room and in the end resorted to going to the Thomas Cook Customer Care phone site (Forget trying the chat site as this is only for the very quick typist)
and the folks whom man this seem to be overwhelmed at the best of times.
Anyway a Customer Service guy called Alan Britten really did it for us and I can really say this man is topnotch at sorting out problems, so we got our balcony.
The hotel is situated about 5 miles from the main port and you could not want a better location beach wise, in fact its right on your doorstep; a lovely stretch of golden sand and very safe water for your kids to swim in safely.
In fact its a bit too safe for me but young families will love its warm non tidal reasonable shallow water.
As stated everywhere you have to book your Sunbeds for at least 5 days and that will cost you 50 Euros; and the beds were all taken on each change-over day so get in soon in the main season.
But you can freely sight yourself in front of these on the soft sand with about 2 or 3 meters of free sand available to you.
On to your options for the beach.
The pool is big with loads of sunbeds, these are seemingly contested for up until they un-chain the beds at 0830hrs but if you are here off-season then there shouldnt be a problem.
Onto the Hotel in the main.
Its just fine with big restaurants that supply superb food of the kind that you would be hard pressed to find any where in European climes, every taste and food is available and they serve it from 0730hrs to 1030hrs (Breakfast) 1200hrs to 1430hrs (Lunch) and 1900hrs to 2130hrs (Dinner)
If you fancy a meal by the beach then there is the Beach Bar and Restaurant that serves hot plate meals (Paella-Fish-Burgers-Salads-Mixed Meat-Vegetables etc) from 1300hrs to 1530hrs, and if you still fell hungry they place really nice sandwiches up until they shut the bar up at 1700hrs.
Not that the bar closes for drinks a this time, just the food finally stops.
Onto the Booze.
We like to drink white wine with soda, well there are pumps of the stuff with accompanying soft drinks, Coke, Lemonade etc, nice touch this!
The bar is very busy during the entertainment periods but they cope if you want to drink spirits beer etc.
The Entertainment.
Well there are hundreds of kids here and the Team that look after them do a really good job at keeping them out of your hair but the main show everynight is child based and this goes on for an hour or so. Then after a break of about 2 Hours the main adult show starts.
Its Themed and everyone apart from us seemed to love it, we just snuck away to the back of the Beach Bar and joined the other killjoys, dont get me wrong they try hard, its just that Im an ex-pro- muso and try to hide from “Hi-De-Ho”
Please dont read this wrongly, the team do a good job with gusto and most folks will love this, its just not my thing.
Rooms.
Its a 3 sided building over looking the main pool area with other rooms facing the rest of the world around this hotel, if you have the latter you might have a street for a view or even a cardboard compactor, as we did, personally; I found the compactor a very interesting thing to watch as I now know that this hotel takes its re-cycling duties very seriously.
But the room we was in was more than adequate, a lovely bathroom, main living room with a small kitchen, fridge, telly and a balcony!!
All the rest.
Reception is big and airy with multi lingual helpful staff, lots of comfy chairs, two laptops for your use.Off to one side is a big function room with the usual stage etc. Imeadiately outside the inner doors is firstly a communual formal garden leading centrally to the pool area and off to the right you can find a few “Pay For” games and a free table tennis set.
Within 100yards your onto the Beach Bar and main entertainment area with its smallish stage and in front of this seating for about 100 chairs and tables. Carry on through the beach bar/restaurant area and down a few steps and your right on the lovely beach.
So thats about it Folks.
We really didnt expect it to be as good as it was and considering that the place was full to capacity it worked like clockwork.
It is aimed at young families but there were plenty of couples enjoying themselves here, us included and overall this is a well maintained friendly All-Inclusive (Mainly) Hotel that truly deserves every one of its 4 Stars.

Room Tip: Thomas Cook has rooms mainly over the front of this hotel and they do not have balconies, if you want a balcony you have to pay about £130 more and make sure that you state that you want one, even then you might be in a side room!!

Dear Joan,

First of all we would like to express our gratitude for your visit and for dedicating your time and effort to write this review. We are glad to may learn from our guest´s experiences in order to take their visions into account and achieve maximum adaption to their needs.

Further we would like to point out that it is our goal to offer splendid holidays to all our guests regardless of their age, their nationality or their culture and we feel sad to hear you did not feel comfortable whilst staying among us. It is certainly true that we are perfectly adapted to the needs and wishes of families with children but we also aim to provide extraordinary vacations to couples and travelers on their own. We constantly implant new recreation for our adult guests. For example there is life music every night except Wednesday in our Seasoul bar and at Iberostar Alcudia Park's Thai Zen SPAce, you can indulge in the best services in a new concept in wellbeing. Treatments and facilities include Finnish sauna, massage, Turkish baths, manicure and pedicure room, steam baths, hydro-massage, thermal spa tour, and relaxation area...all performed with the utmost care and attention of the best, skilled professionals of our top Playa de Muro spa hotel. We deeply regret you felt we did not pay enough attention to the well being of our adult guests because we are not satisfied as long as not each and every of our clients is enchanted by the cozy and friendly atmosphere we try to create for all.

Regarding the modernity of our rooms we are happy to inform you that we have many different types, views and rates available and in our call center we are more than willing to help you finding the one that best suits your needs. Between many other categories we can offer you Priority Location Apartments (Panorama) integrated in 2011, ideal for luxury apartment holidays: modern, exclusive, and featuring an enormous 40-inch flat screen TV as well a grand panoramic terrace with outdoor sofa, two hammocks, and artificial grass.

In addition, we would like to apologize that you perceived the mealtimes less relaxing than you expected, we do our best to offer quality cuisine in an unsurpassed setting. To the precise moment of your stay, the coincidence of people wanting to dine on the same time may have provoked a bit more of a rush than normally. Further it is our target to open our doors to offer a wide range of dishes to sample the best recipes not only from Mallorca and Spain, but international dishes for all tastes as well. In Iberostar we believe that the culinary part of your holiday is very important and therefore we only work with professional chefs, using products of prime quality. We apologize for being unable to enchant you with our gastronomic highlights.

To continue we regret that you have had language barriers that complicated efficient ordering. We assure you that we choose and school our staff to cover as many languages as possible as we understand that good communication and service orientation are of prime importance to achieve maximum customer satisfaction, and we are sorry that on this occasion their performance in the beach bar did not meet your expectations.

On the other hand we will certainly congratulate our receptionists. As you find them lovely, we understand that you could enjoy their professionalism and dedication.

Last but not least it is our pleasure to inform you that in Iberostar we have plenty hotels that are designed for adults only. If for upcoming holidays you would prefer an accommodation where the entrance is only permitted to persons older than fourteen years, we will be delighted to assist you with the booking.

We hope that your stay was as pleasant as it could possibly be, and that you had a nice journey back home.

Yours faithfully,

Everything was pretty much as we expected it from the Trip Advisor reviews and Google Earth.

Food and restaurant were good 4 star quality.
The hotel staff and rooms feel a little bit 1980s but are well maintained and clean, (rooms).
We travelled with Thomas Cook and so our room change request by email wasn't acknowledged and our room was pre-allocated. You can change at check time if you want to pay extra. See what your allocated room is like first. Ours overlooked the side street and was close to the main street which was a little noisy if the doors were open. Balcony very big.

Hotel wifi exactly as reported here previously. Signal strength suspect in some areas of the hotel, Staff unable to advise where was best. KubiWireless help person also had no knowledge of hotel wifi layout. Reception staff did acknowledge that in the evening time there were too many people using it to be able to use it and to try later. We found that it was usually too congested to use between 6 and 11. Anytime either side of that was ok. €20 for the week.

Beach was great, especially for our 2 year old. Area in front of the hotel doesn't have paid-for loungers, so you don't have to pay the €10 a day longer-tax if you don't want. Beach is relatively shallow in to waist height and then rises again to knee height 30m/40m out from shore before getting deep again. A little annoying for adult swimmers if you want deep water early. If you want even shallower water for your small child go halfway over towards the pier (where all the Spanish people are). The beach doesn't shelve there and is very good for the very young. Don't bother bringing snorkelling gear. Because it's all fine white sand there's very little marine life, even out at the bouys. It is a little windier than some resorts we've been, occasionally the sun umbrella will get blown away. The swimming pool was nice but wasn't very big and there are no slides/attractions for kids. Most lounger space was towelled up early, but we were there in Sep and there was always space for extra loungers. But with a beach that nice 50m from the hotel, we were never going to spend time at the pool.

Beds were only twins and not even sheeted as a double but again we knew that in advance

This is a great family hotel. Good location on a sandy beach. Hotel is very clean, good customer service, friendly helpful staff. I cannot give hotel anything less than 5, because for what we paid, hotel was excellent. The only downside was the lack of sun beds around in high season (we were there last 2 weeks of August) for those who do not want to get up early every day. This has already been mentioned numerous times in other reviews & so no point in going into further detail. Also worth re-iterating that if you don't have kids, this hotel is probably not for you. We went as family of 4 & our children had a great time as there were so many other children to play with.

So, this hotel is good for families - and actually the families that come here all seemed to be nice & friendly. We had 1 bedroom apartment for 4 people - which was reasonable size. I was pleased to see bathroom had bath as well shower. It was the usual set up for family of 4 - adults in bedroom & kids in lounge which also had 2 beds. There was also small kitchenette with sink, fridge, 2 ring cooker - extremely useful if you have babies/ small kids. We were all inclusive but kitchen area still useful.

Food at the hotel is fantastic - healthy with lots of choice. Head chef & staff really seemed to take pride in food & presentation.
Lots of entertainment - With dedicated & friendly animation team - my kids absolutely loved the shows - which was great!
Reception staff, cleaners & other hotel staff all helpful & friendly.
Hotel is clean, efficient & staff make an effort.
We will be back!
