Small Group Day Tour to Yongding Hongkeng Tulou Cluster From Xiamen Without...

Getting to join a local tour to one of the tulous is as simple and easy to arrange one.
Just ask your hotel frontdesk and they will gladly assist you. And reasonably price.

It's an interesting experience especially if you get to walk up to the top floor and get an overall view. It's solidly built and holds up lots of weight with just wood and mud in its wall and foundation.
But the tour guide will only bring you to the most well kept one (there are 4-5). We manage to explore beyond that and visited a 600 years old tulou at one end. It needs lot of renovation to withstand itself but the structure speaks for its engineering feat. It's a true experience to see how nature and human have work their ways against it and yet stand firmly upright!

If you happen to be in Xiamen, spare a day and you won't regret.

I got an English-speaking tour guide, Air-conditioned bus, Entrance tickets, Accommodation and Lunch.Experienced the local Hakka family life and drank Hakka rice wine.I also visited the mountainous village school and played with local children for a little while.Just felt amazing.
If you have the opportunity to come to China, this is definitely a place I would recommend. Away from the tourist (but for how long!) In the countryside with beautiful landscapes of rice fields and banana trees, the Tulou deserve a few days' stopover.

A chance to see rural Chinese living, one building had been standing for over 700 years and had housed 24 generations. Take tea with some of the villagers, and there are some special photo opportunities

Most visitors to Xiamen only get as far as the Nanjing tulou. It is worth going to Yongding and staying a night in a tulou or one of the hotels in Longyan. The Yongding tulous are amazing in themselves but really, it is the gorgeous scenery along the way -- and the many tulous dotted everywhere -- which make it such a wonderful journey. Then there are the hills of tea bushes around Yongding county, rolling hills of endless green. People talk about Anxi tea but the tea from Yongding is also fantastic.
