From the moment we arrived, we knew we were going to love staying at La Gite de La Feuille d'Erable. You couldn't ask for friendlier or more welcoming hosts. Ashly is very knowledgeable about the area and it's surroundings, and was very helpful when trying to plan activities/excursions. She has prepared a binder with maps and brochures of the various things to do and see around Ventron.
Every day we woke up feeling like we were in paradise, nestled in the mountains, surrounded by nature. It was so relaxing lounging on the patio, soaking up the warm summer sun.
The newly renovated Gite was very comfortable and had everything we needed including laundry machines and a drying rack and of course WI-FI. The home is very clean and modern with very comfortable beds and is a good size whether you're traveling as a couple, a family or a small group of friends. We loved the shower in the wet room, very spacious with a large shower head. There's even a towel heater! The chalkboard in the children's room is a wonderful way to leave a thank you message when you leave!
I would definitely recommend having a car when you are staying here, as there is so much to see only a short drive away. Mountains, lakes, picturesque small towns/cities, a magnificent castle , Monkey mountain(Montagne des Singes), even several countries borders are only a 4hr drive away.
Thank you again to Ashly and Max for a memorable experience! We cannot wait to return and do it all again. We would recommend staying here to anyone and everyone.

Stayed here with the family (3 adults and 3 little children plus dog) for a week December 26th through January 2nd. Communication with Ashly is very prompt and pleasant. She does a great deal to help you prepare for your stay and to ensure everything is in order when you arrive. And when you get to the Gite, Ashly is there with a very warm welcome and lots of information on the surroundings. Pretty much everything you need is available; dishwasher, oven, microwave, dvd, Nintendo Wii and plenty of dishes, glasses and so on. And if you have little kids, they will adore the 'bus' sleeping bed, huge chalkboard and toys available as well. There's even stuff (toys, dishes, cutlery) available for infants!
You can clearly tell the Gite is newly renovated and beds, linen and furniture are very clean and new. There is still some work planned for the near future - such as the garden and a fence - but inside everything is well in order. Bathroom and toilet perfect; plenty of heatings throughout the Gite (which you certainly need when temperatures are low) and a cozy fireplace.
We went to Ventron - about 2km's from the Gite - to get bread in the morning. Nearest supermarket about 6km's away. Obviously the surroundings lend themselves for hiking and there are various routes that start within walking distance of the Gite. A number of ski pistes are also very close by although there was no snow during our stay so we haven't checked them.
We have been to the Vosges and Alsace region a number of times and think the location of this Gite is more suited for outdoor (sporting) activities then cultural visits. For us this was fine as we went to great places as Colmar, Riquewihr, Ribeauville, Kaysersberg, Turckheim, Haut-Koenigsbourg many times already and wanted to spend more time in nature on this occasion. However, if your primary objective is to visit the Route des Vins and its' many highlights, we think you'd better look for a location closer to it. Having said that though, all the above places are still well within reach but take you about 1-1,5 hours to get to. The advantage of this Gite - apart from it being new and having Ashly as host - is the tranquil surrounding and fabulous hiking possibilities right outside your doorstep.
We would highly recommend a stay here and will very likely return as well. Thanks Ashly!
