When we walked into the room it was dark and everything looked alright, albeit a bit dirty. So we threw down our backpacks and headed into the Sishan National Forest Park (adjacent to the hotel). But when we returned late that evening the electricity would not turn on - the hotel attendent tore off a piece of cardboard and placed it into the key sensor - okay so it did work with some improvisation. The floors were not tile, but really old carpeting, stained with miscellaneous blotches, looked like it had Never been cleaned or vacuumed!!! The walls were no better - wallpaper was half peeling off with drippings of many different colors all over the place! The bathroom - I wish we never would have opened the door. The ceramic of the toilet was crumbling at the base, with goey black stuff filling in the cracks. Even worse, the hotel had tried to seal the broken toilet with packaging tape! At this time we were horrified and disgusted, but at least the bed and sheets were clean (watch out for nails sticking out from the mattress). The air conditioning did not work. The restaurant overcharged us for dinner - the orange juice was 12 Yuan a piece and the food had pools of oil. But the next morning's breakfast buffet was good. The staff were pretty nice, but did not speak any English. The listed room prices are too much - if you do want to stay here for convenience, please don't - try another hotel instead.
