Let me start by saying I am a Renaissance junkie. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member I always prefer to stay in Renaissance properties when available. Previous to this trip, the Bangkok property was my favorite destination. While I still love the Bangkok location, the status of favorite now belongs to the Renaissance Phuket, Everything about this property is spot on! The staff is amazing, attentive and downright friendly. We were upgraded to a Pool Suite (reward programs have their privileges) and cannot begin to describe how awesome and comfortable these rooms are. Spacious, well appointed and it doesn't hurt to have private pool and sun deck. The remoteness of the property has advantages and disadvantages. You are not in the traffic and congestion of the major tourist areas. The location serves as an excellent starting point for land exploration into Phang Nga. The disadvantage is that your choices in dinning are limited. in terms of dinning choices, we stuck to the Sand Box and Loca Vore. We had high hopes for Takieng but were very disappointed with the quality and presentation of some basic Thai dishes.. Honestly, I can get much better Thai food back home. Actually, Loca Vore had better Thai food..go figure.

We made the trek to Turtle village which would have been a total boondoggle if not for restocking some basic supplies at Turtle Mart. Word of caution, we grabbed a quick pint and a snack at Bill Bently's Pub.. I ended up sending my pint of Guinness back because it had a foul chemical taste and we ended up eating a couple of bites of our snack before paying up and hightailing it out of there. No wonder we were the only ones in there.. should have been a sign.

Aside from these two minor complaints I would wholeheartedly recommend the Renaissance Phuket to anyone considering a visit... you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: You can unplug the sound bar from the TV and plug it into your Iphone/Ipad etc and listen to music.

Just returned home from our 2 week holiday at the Renaissance, just loved all aspects of the place from the time we arrived till the night of check out.
We stayed in ocean view villa, and I'm telling you now if you can afford to stay in 1 of the front villas it's well worth it, opening up the curtains first thing in the morning and watching and hearing the ocean waves, it's a great start to the day.
Breakfast buffet, we decided that it was one of the best we had experienced ever, plenty of choices and plenty of variety for everyone. Banana smoothies were my favorite but every request was greeted with a smile by all staff. So happy to talk to everybody and welcomed you
everyday with smiles and laughter....
Lunch at the Sandbox was simple but very reasonable, wraps, pizzas, mini burgers, vegetarian
etc......
Coffee shop was a great escape from the heat as well for lunch, plenty of choices, menu specials
were different everyday also, and the coffee was good.....
Thai restaurant above Sandbox was amazing, a bit expensive but you get what you pay for in
overall experience, food was absolutely delicious . Celebrated a special birthday there, and they
came out with birthday cake with candles and everyone singing, it was very special....
There dinner buffet was excellent, can't believe not so many people take the opportunity to eat
here? They have it 3 times a week and the choices are different for every night, the chefs are
just so willing to take the time with you and walk around and explain every piece of fish, or meat,
or Thai style of food that they have to offer, and when you decide what you want cooked, you
actually see for yourself first hand how they prepare and cook and serve your meal. It's all done
virtually in front of you..FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE
What more can I say, if your looking for a relaxed and quite resort (especially this time of the
year) low season this is the place, far far away from that noisy place Patong, this is it.
Turtle Village just a tuk tuk ride away, but really you can forget about that place !!
Ate at the Sala next door a couple of times, very nice also.
Beach itself, as I had read before in other reviews, was very steep and very rough and the red
flags were up nearly everyday, but we were quite happy to swim in the beautiful infinity pool, or our own private villa pool.
Don't forget happy hour between 5 till 6 everyday at the sandbox, and then 8 till 9 at the upstairs bar near reception.
Staff were amazing....
Villa room awesome...
Food exceptional....
Spa experience, expensive but so relaxing......
Beautiful modern buildings
Overall experience, very satisfied and would definitely stay here again...

Room Tip: Ocean View Villa, but I think all rooms have a very high standard from what I could see.

Very relaxing resort. The beach is not great as it is very steep, but there is an excellent pool area which makes up for it. Staff were all extremely friendly up to the last minute when several people waved us off in a taxi! About 1 hour from Patong if you want to try the local nightlife. Sweet treats in the room every day, small gym which has everything you would need. Breakfast was amazing and served until 11am. Only thing was that it was weirdly quiet at night, only a couple of people knocking about at the bar (only 1 bar open after 11pm), and the hotel was full. A little eerie. Did have a bit of rain during the stay, which is coped with well at the resort, considering it is very open plan, but does leave you wondering what to do, as if you cannot sit by the pool and drink cocktails, there is little else the resort has to offfer! Ate at the JW one night and also one of the shack restaurants on the road to the hotel, which was excellent and great value!

Just returned from our second visit to this fantastic resort. The staff were wonderful, and did a great job in recognising us and rewarding our loyalty as regular Marriott/Renaissance guests. Nothing was too much trouble. We spend much of the time in the resort and ate at all of the outlets. Particularly liked the Thai Restaurant, but enjoyed all of them. Great that you can use the free Tuk Tuk to travel to the Marriott top the road and also use their Restaurants. The rooms are luxurious, and modern and the pool villa is very special, with a large bath (big enough to share) and plenty of wardrobe space. Wifi throughout the resort is also good. The pool area is lovely, and the beach stunning. The one adverse comment would be about the music by the pool, the lovely birdsong, and waves crashing on the beach was drowned out by the terrible trendy lounge music all day long. But this was a small negative when compared to the delights the Renaissance has to offer.

Lovely hotel, upgraded to pool villa and ever attentive staff make for an excellent holiday. If you like the quiet relaxing break then this hotel is for you...The rooms were modern and well appointed with comfortable beds and great amenities...
Not a great deal around here though... And the only shops is a nearby hotel that is super pricey ... Plenty of potential here for local fare but is yet to be discovered ... A fair way to travel to nearest local shopping... 45 mins to Patong and 1600 THB for 4 hours ...
We enjoyed our time here but May is the rainy season as we discovered ... We did get 1 day and some brief moments of sunshine ... All in all was really nice here if you want to relax..

Will be going back - the Villas are just perfect for a honeymoon - thank you team for an amazing and memorable stay.
