We have travelled around the world and stayed at numerous luxury hotels and resorts, i.e. ritz carltons and four seasons, and this is definitely one of our favorites. The lobby is exquisite, the service is terrific, the grounds are spectacular, and the beach is incredible. Other reviews have mentioned that the water at the beach is a little rough - which it can be; other days its a little more calm. However, the beach is secluded which makes it just really nice.

There are massages available on the beach - but we wanted a little more privacy and got them in our room for only 100 baht more. Very relaxing!!

The only negative was the lack of non-hotel dining options. Although the hotel restaurants are not terribly expensive, they are a bit on the pricey side. We ate many of our meals at The Coffee Club, located at the Turtle Village center that you can get to by golf cart. Meals there are about half the price of the resort. Other reviews have mentioned the Kim Dee restaurant thats close to the hotel - it actually is not close by. You cannot get there without walking on the main highway which does not have sidewalks, and there are numerous stray dogs which will follow you and bark at you (a bit unnerving). We attempted to walk there, but turned back.

One other thing i would change are the bathrooms. They have those shutter-type doors instead of a hard door and also have similar shutters above the jacuzzi tub, allowing you to open them and watch tv. However, that means that you can hear everything that is going on in the bathroom when you're in the bedroom part. I've seen this setup at other hotels and i've never understood this. No one wants to hear others use the bathroom!!!

All in all, i would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. The grounds, the pool, the beach, the service, and the rooms itself make this a phenomenal hotel!

This is a brilliant hotel, beautiful, well run and stunning rooms. However if you came to Phuket with night life in mind, this is not the hotel for you. It is a long, long way from anything approaching a night life scene.
Perfect if you want to relax and get away from it all but Patong and all the entertainment resorts are on the West coast of the island and at least an hour and a very expensive taxi ride away. So even if you want to spend one night in the bright lights it is not convenient.
Marriot do have a few resorts on the west coast so if this is what you want, stay in one of those.

This was the third time we stayed in this hotel and each time it was amazing.
Beautiful surroundings and pools.
We stayed in a two bedroom villa, which was very spacious.

Yes, this is really a lovely place!

I would reccommend staying at this particular marriott property to anyone. It is the best one that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in about 20 marriott properties. The grounds are beautiful, the beach to walk in is very nice, it might not have the soft sand that you would find in the carribbean but it is still a nice clean beach. The pool is absolutely amazing and the biggest I have ever seen. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to help you do anything you need done. Our room was also fabulous, and the fruit basket they leave everyday is full of fresh island fruit and is very delicious. The restaurants are good there and quite a few choices throughout the property. We went to the breakfast buffet a couple times through our week stay, it is somewhat expensive but worth every penny since it is very high end and they have anything you can possibly think or want and more. They had these great specialty juices where they added antioxidants and all sorts of energy items into them for a daily booster, they were really good. We also ate at the bakery shop a few times, it was kind of like a bookshop/ cafe. They had great smoothies there, and great breakfast, I always got the asparagus with eggs and bread. It is about a45 minute ride to the downtown part of phuket where there is shopping, a street full of bars and clubs, and a lot of nightlife. We went there one night and had a great time, but afterwards decided that if we spent the whole week down there we would be annoyed with all the crowds. We spent a few nights in bangkok and a few nights in krabi, but this island was the best.

This hotel is spectacular. It has incredible grounds, amazing rooms, outstanding service, very good food, a perfect beach -- I could go on.

The only slight cautions are that it's a bit away from Patong so if you want a wild night life or if you don't like children, this wonderful hotel might not be your cup of tea.
