From the moment we arrived we were looked after as if we were the only guests. The staff could not have been more helpful, The room was beautifully set out and well maintained. The additional facilities and support of being in a resort were excellent as we required the assistance of a nurse to remedy a problem from a prvious location

We booked a deluxe seafront room for the 3 of us, which was a big mistake as they are just tiny rooms and there is absolutely no space for a third bed - our travel agent should have known this...but the staff at the reception were exceptional helpful and we moved straight away into one of those bigger terraced rooms. These suites are lovely and spacious, but we had to pay a fee on top which also gave us free soft drinks from the mini bar, cream tea every afternoon and 6pm happy hour drinks - all included. I do agree with some of the comments about the hotel looking a bit tired - specially the beach bar and pool bar could do with some updating. There are also far too many free trading stalls/massage along the beach front which does spoil the all over feeling of being in an exclusive 5 star resort. The food at the Thai restaurant was very good as was the Italian restaurant, but again both restaurants need updating. All the staff at the hotel are fantastic -polite and helpful and we did enjoy our stay there.
(If you book a trip with the Laguna tour operator at the hotel make sure you get a decent lunch box - we had an old banana and some cold special fried rice for our trip to Phi Phi island which was very just bad. They gave us a refund for the food, but it somehow spoilt our lunch on the beach as you cant buy anything there)

This was a much anticipated family holiday and we stayed at this resort only because we were staying as a large group of friends and it had been preselected. My brother arrived with two little children and we put into a tiny room (the same as what my parents and my partner and I had been allocated for couples). He had specifically told them he needed a bed for a 3 year old and a cot for a little baby. On arrival none of this had been set up and infact the room was not big enough for a cot and suitcases. Reception told him the 3 year old could sleep in his bed. After 2 hours waiting in reception we were finally attended to but told nothing could be done. Only after some serious insistence did we manage to get them an upgrade to the type of family room they required. I felt like I had to spend most of this holiday remedying the shocking customer service at this place. Eventually we got some help but it was too late to make our stay a truly pleasant one. We had all travelled a long way from 3 corners of the globe to be together at quite some expense and it would have been far more cost effective and pleasant to have selected one of Phuket's many villas. The pool area is good for kids and well maintained and the beach is quite nice but the rooms are dingy, dark and in need of a refurb. Disappointing.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with a family you need a suite.

Dear Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket guests,

Sawadee krup and greetings from Phuket. I am sorry to read about the issue you suffered in April 2013 about the room type and it's 32sqm size and bedding configuration and most of all the delay in reaction from someone here who could have assisted. I recall this matter, and I know the trip was for a family wedding. An important holiday for your family travelling from New Zealand, UK and far and wide.

If there is a chance to welcome you back, please do consider one of our 28 x two bedroom pool villas which I think will accomodate everyone with confort and space. I can assit in securing the villa for you.

In the meantime I wish you all the best for the rest of 2013.

Best regards,

This hotel is located along the beautiful Bang Tao beach in Phuket. The beach is beautiful and water is very warm. It's about a 1.5 hr speed boat ride to Koh Phi Phi Islands- one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The hotel itself was nice and the staff was very professional and kind. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was amazing and well worth it.

This hotel would have been perfect except that we had a couple issues. Our shower door kept leaking, which made the bathroom floor wet and slippery every time we showered- this almost ended in a few accidents. We asked twice for someone to come fix it, but engineering never came as promised. We shrugged it off and learned to deal with it, but towards the end of the trip, it was quite unpleasant. Also, on the last day of our 7 day stay, we found a dead cockroach in our hotel room.

Overall, this hotel had wonderful front desk staff and wonderful concierge personnel who were very helpful in showing us how to navigate the island. Loved the authentic feel of the hotel and enjoyed the live Thai music in the lobby.

Sawadee Krup and greetings from Phuket. Thank you for your recent review of your stay as our guests. We value your comments and have shared your praise with the staff. The suite you had #114 we have looked into the shower water flow off to correct it and I believe it was a dead gekko you found for which we again apolosige for.

We have been staying at this property off for the past 20 +years. It has many pluses = the location, grounds, service. As others have mentioned, the property is dated. We have checked in for a quick weekend and I was really surprised by the foam pillows - reminds me of what you find at a two start hotel. I will wait until the remodel to return. Lots of swell places to stay these days in Phuket versus 20 years ago.

Location of the hotel is amazing; a beautiful beach to relax and enjoy. We did not really understand the shops on the beach, as they were not of the hotel, yet are allowed to sell all the things the hotel is selling (massage/drinks/tours).
Rooms and restaurant were a bit dated, and it was too bad that only one restaurant is open for lunch. But this might be due to the lower season we're still in. For the rest had a lovely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for the corner room; you're balcony will be slightly bigger there.

We recently spend 5 nights in this hotel and was very impressed with the service here. We arrived in the morning but couldn't get our room till 5pm but the Club Room Agent was very accommodating and offered us another room to freshen up and rest after lunch till our room was ready. Our room has a nice beach view. Only slight issue was that the aircon was too cold even after maintenance tried to fix it but after having extra blanket, it was ok. Wifi in our room was not very strong even after the IT staff came to sort it out.

My 2 young sons were on a dairy, egg and gluten free diet and Chef Silvano met us at check-in to discuss our dietary requirements and his team made sure that there were stuff they can eat especially for morning breakfast. They always have ready gluten free bread available and have gluten free pasta for the kids.

Staying around the Laguna was great as there are other hotels to visit and some restaurants along the beach so you need not just eat in the hotel all the time. Also just outside the Laguna there are a few restaurants where the restaurants provide free transport both ways so it's hassle free.

Beach was nice although sea was rough but in the evenings the tide is low and kids can just play at the edge of the water. But on the last evening, my son got stung by something which I thought was jelly fish but the staff later told me it was 'sea lice' which is larvae of jelly fish. Although harmless except for some rashes, it was very painful for him.

Despite these small few 'issues' we enjoyed our stay very much and my kids want to return to this hotel again in December!

Thanks for such a pleasant stay and thank you so much to Khun Dada and Chef Silvano and their team who made our stay such a comfortable one.

Room Tip: Beach or sea view room are preferable.
