We have recently stayed at the refurbished Outrigger Laguna Resort in Phuket. First impressions were not too good after a mix up with our booking but that cannot be blamed on the hotel. Once we had the issue sorted we were given a ground floor sea view room, the view and convenience of just walking out your veranda doors on to the beach was priceless. The hotel was very quiet and didnt seem to be too busy as there was no one around after approx. 6pm at night - were did everyone go ?? I think if I was coming back to this hotel I would request a one bedroom suite as I would have really liked a wee bit more room, but that is just me !!! The shuttles around the resort are great, we took it to the other hotels and shopping village and found it not too far to walk into the village when we needed.

We had wonderful 12 days in the Outrigger Resort. Everything was close to perfection. The staff extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Sometimes their English is limited to very basic standard answers. The layout of the resort with open lobby and corridors partially to the lagoon partially to the sea gives you a wonderful airy feeling. The breakfast in The Club or at the main buffet has been delicious. Why not also yellow mangoes at breakfast but only other not so ripe mangoes we did not understand. The room was very comfortable. Only for the bedside lighting the interior architect did not assume that anybody wants to read in bed.
All in all a great stay. At the start of the high season the number of guests increased considerably. At the end of the low season the rainy periods did not bother us at all.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Club room o ran front.

Well, just back from this hotel and let me start from the hotel's advantages: beautifully surrounded by quiet laguna, noisy sea and nice swimming-pool, Outrigger is offering various ways to spend your time. The water is all around you, even inside the buidling, small waterfalls are making your inner relax and enjoy. Icon restaurant is quite good and the food is delicious though not so tasty like in local restaurants. Rooms are quite big and those facing laguna are really good.
Now back to the total dissappointment, step by step
I arrived and my check-up was quite long, appr 15 min. I spend another half an hour waiting for my friends to arrive. How was I surprised when coming to my room and i didn't see my luggage! 45 minutes and no luggage. I called twice to check for that and finalyy, after another 20 min of waiting i finally got it!
WiFi was not working, their IT people fixed that next day only. I called to the reception at 2am to heck if they can do that immediately but NOBODY picked up the phone nor nobody from room service did that
next day i returned from the beach at 3pm and decided to check a shower. I saw my room is not cleaned and i though "ok, if u are not cleaning ervery day - i would not die". Then staying naked i heard the door is opening and the room cleaner was going to enter it!!! I cried and closed the door but she insistenly wanted to open it no matter i was telling her to come next day. Good idea for manager of the hotel - your people should know at least some English words like "tomorrow", "not now".
The hotel should put a limitation for the number of Russians coming there. It's not possible to survive with all the chaos they are making. I'm Russian but these bloody people made me sick.
Tip to the hotel management - please put a note the hotel is for parents with kids. It would be fair to other guests which want to relax and not hear children's cryings.
The hotel announced itself as non-smoking though u could smoke on a small balcony in the room. So before going to your room please after check-in - please ask for the ashtray.
If u want to spend your time near the swimming pool - be an early bird. Reserve the place not later than 8:30 am, then Russians will come and reserve all row for themselves, family, friends, neighbours etc no matter if they need that or not.

Room Tip: ask for laguna view in the beach wing

This is a smart, airy beach front resort. Rooms are in two wings - beach and lagoon. Two restaurants are always open: Locavore (near the lobby) and Edgewater (poolside) and there's 24h room service. There is a well-equipped, moderate-sized gym with free water and towels, a business centre, a large multi-level outdoor pool with a large water slide. There are lots of other activities available. The on-site dive shop is affiliated with Sea Bees Diving, who organised a great day out for us with really professional dive instructors.

Service is generally very good. We got a warm welcome, cold towels and a drink on arrival. Poolside staff are quick, efficient and friendly. Unfortunately some of the staff at Locavore were a bit amateurish. One night we chose to have the buffet. Halfway through our meal, we all left the table to get more food and staff cleared away the whole table, including drinks and cutlery. We had clearly not finished, hadn't asked for the bill and hadn't spent an abnormally long time away. Although they seated us again at the next table, they refused to provide us with fresh drinks, adamant that we had finished everything. We didn't think there was any point making a fuss - our word against theirs.

Rooms are spacious, smart, clean and comfortable. There is a large, double bed-sized day bed in an alcove by the window. The bathroom boasts a step-down-into shower/bath and sliding doors. A free bottle of water is provided every day.

There is a reasonable restaurant (Tom Yum Gung - not part of the resort) and a smattering of little shops on the beach front. Guests at any of the hotels around the Laguna complex can take a free shuttle bus or shuttle boat and eat at other hotels.

Overall, we had a good time and most of the hotel is faultless. Initially I wasn't going to take off a star for the problems at Locavore but, with so many excellent resorts to stay at, guests shouldn't put up with silly, small but significant mistakes.

Room Tip: Beach wing lagoon view rooms are close to the beach and both quieter and less expensive than beach/p...

Very nice hotel with direct beach access. You can walk kilometers on the beach very good and relaxing. Many restaurants are along the beach but the food in the hotel is also excellent.

Hallway and sitting area is awesome.

Pool area is good and even if there a lot of visitors it is not crowded as people are spread around. Club environment is very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Expensive Taxi due to resort location but if you want to relax you need no taxi. With the FOC boat/ bus you can travel between the different resorts.

Room Tip: Room with view to the beach is wonderful. You can sit on the balcony and here the waves. Check if...

oh what can I say, everything was perfection. The room near laguna had a wonderful view, so clean, so beautiful. The beach was like heaven, and the service was perfect. They had a really good food, international cuisine because thai food was a little problem for European people. Prices a little up but hey u are in Phuket. Perfect staying for a family, no other words to describe, nice staff, unforgettable vacations.

Room Tip: choose deluxe room near laguna, it has a paradise view

Absolutely recommend the hotel to families and couples. Everything is up to the highest expectations.
Would especially like to thank the staff of the Club for their warm attitude and friendliness.
The only minus is a relative remoteness from local shops and restaurants but these can be easily accessed by taxi, most restaurants provide pick-up service.

Room Tip: Choose the Club rooms for extra comfort. Laguna view would be best for those who prefer tranquility.
