Hi guys! One more report from Asia. Now its Outrigger Laguna Phuket. Less then one year after renovaron. New friendly staff. Really fine food. Small but very convinient swimming pool. Good well-equipped Gym. Good and useful kidclubs. Small but normal quality rooms - we was 2 adults 2 kids in the family rooom. Small but not stressed. Long beach with different restaraunts and watersports. Just 2 step from hotel you have fantastic local restaraunt on the beach. That's it. Approved and strongly recommended.

We stayed here as a family and it was beautiful. You dont need to go anywhere else. The buffet breakfast is devine and pleanty. The lagoon with various water creatures is amazing and lying on the foreshore was a lovely peaceful way to spend your days. There is a small shopping centre just up the road which is perfect if you feel like doing some retail thereapy.Free shuttle bus between the various hotles in the resort. Rooms are a great size and we really enjoyed our stay. It is a tad pricey but it is a lovely resort away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.I would definitely stay there agin recommend booking in advance.

Small bars on the beach also very friendly.

great hotel right on beach at Laguna resort - Angsana, Banyan Tree also in complex...a complimentary ferry takes you round to other hotels and also free shuttle until 11.30pm. Good facilities and fantastic staff. Rooms spacious and well appointed. Perhaps a little remote if you wanting the nightlife of Patong but for us a perfect location with restaurants and bars on beach and massage daily for 300 baht!! We opted for Club room which has daily breakfast, all day soft drinks and snacks from 2-4, and cocktails and nibbles from 6-7.30 so really good value.

Room Tip: Club option is good value

The Outrigger Laguna resort is part of the Lagoon Hotels complex which has about 8-10 resorts which are spread across the lagoon. We chose this resort after a lot of research on trip advisor and we were really happy with our choice for our group of 4 adults and 1 kid. This is one of the few resorts in Phuket which is actually located on the beach. 90% of the resorts in Phuket only have a pool and the beach is a 5-10 walk and usually on the other side of the road. Make sure you factor this in your choice and this resort gets a big tick.

We arrived at the hotel at 11.30 am and were given both our rooms as part of our request for early check in and I must compliment Karen for making our check in smooth. The rooms are really spacious and we had requested two ground floor Lagoon facing rooms and the first look bought a smile to our faces. The views of the Lagoon are fabulous and sitting in the patio is great feeling. The hotel has 3 restaurants - 2 in the main building and one by the beach - Locavore / Edgewater and Metzo's Bistro. We ate at the Edgewater by the beach and we were quite happy. There is also a Thai restaurant on the beach called Tom Yum Goong which served decent Thai fare at an affordable price and also offered good views.

The beach is gorgeous and spreads out for a couple of kilometers on both ends with lots of shacks and water sports to keep you engaged. A tip is to arrive early in the morning and book your beach chairs with the best views. The resort has three pools including one for kids and my one year old was always waiting to jump in. There is also a decent water slide for older kids and adults alike. The beach chairs around the pools are also enjoyable. The resorts has a gym / tennis courts / table tennis and loads of activities depending on your liking.

One negative feedback is that the Koh Kids Club is hidden in one inaccessible corner of the resort and was quite disappointing. The entrance to the kids club was stinking as there were open drains with stagnant water. Appreciate if the management can have a look at this asap.

There is a Club Room for evening snacks for people paying that extra charge but honestly, you are better off exploring the restaurants within the resort and around. I must recommend the Deepavali restaurant on the Laguna Road for good Indian Curries. There is also a Chaba Supermarket for all those little things. There is a ferry which arrives every 20 minutes and takes you on a one hour ride touching all the other resorts in the Laguna complex. Its a good way to check out the other properties and enjoy a meal there. Avoid the over-rated Canal Village

A good tip is to hire your car in Phuket at the airport and keep it during your stay. Makes it easy to check out the tourist spots and Patong town which has the nightlife.

Our last day was again made special as the resort allowed us to check out late at 3 pm based on our request.

All in all this is a great resort and you will love it if you are looking for a beach getaway.

Room Tip: If you are booking a Lagoon Deluxe Room, then ask for a room in the Beach Wing as it will give you a...

The new Outrigger Beach Resort is a very nice update of the Laguna Beach Resort, which I’ve also stayed in a number of times in the past. The rooms are nicely decorated, large and have a useful day-bed area that we used for a 3rd person to sleep in, but is otherwise useful for lounging around. All ground floor rooms have a terrace outside, either facing the lagoon or the pool/beach. Some rooms towards the beach have stunning views over the sea.

Services is very good, the breakfast buffet is quite extensive with seating inside and out, and the reception area is large, warm and welcoming. The hotel of course enjoys all the facilities that come part and parcel with the whole Laguna Phuket complex. The hotel is child friendly, with a great pool area for when the surf’s a bit high to play in the sea.

The outstanding point for this hotel is family orientation. There is a nice pool with slider. There is a cute baby elephant to entertain kids.
The hotel itself is refurbished from previous Laguna Beach Hotel. It has a lot of new renovations, but the old fixture such as old elevators is still there.
The room is nice with the view of lagoon or ocean. The beach is the best, very nice, clean and soft sand under your feet. The ocean is great for swim, and the sunset is spectacular.
Buffet breakfat is excellent with good choices and service.
I will definitely go back again.

I stayed for 4 nights in the resort and really enjoyed it:

Service:
- The check-in and out was a breeze. As some of the review stated, they gave us cold towel, drinks and corsage type flower.
- The staff was friendly enough, though my husband think there's a tone of impatient when we asked further to clarify certain things.
- The housekeeping was great, we always come back to a clean room. Though I encountered 2 times where they knocked on our room rather loudly to check on whether we are OK.
- I had 1 rather unpleasant experience when I called the reception to ask whether I can get panadol, on which they said they are not allowed to dispense or buy on behalf, which I wasn't very happy but can understand. However after about 2 hours or so, they took the trouble to call me back rather late at night when I was taking the kids to bed already and just to give the same information. That is, I can purchase it from Canal Village, where it will take around 5 mins ride and they will escort me there. But with a sick husband and 2 kids to take care, it's rather impossible for me to get out at that hour. On the side note, I found out the next day that the sundry next to the lobby actually sell paracetamol.. Ah well.. Bygones..

Resort:
- The resort is beautiful and I really love the beach. Very beautiful beach! Although on first night, we saw poo on the beach
- The swimming pool was OK, my 7yo and I really enjoyed the slide. But we also found poo in kids pool. :(
- Room is spacious. They have the day bed which was converted into kids bed.
- They have a very adorable baby elephant coming every day.
- Location wise is a bit out of the way, however it's ok if you just plan to enjoy and relax in the resort.
- They also have archery!! And some other lessons, which was great..

Overall I'm happy and will be back. But I'll make sure to pack panadol with me.. :)
