Not technically a review of the Chambres d'Hote at the Chateau de Poudelay, as we stayed in one of the gites on this site in 2004. We travelled from Barcelona to the Ariege after flying in from the UK, and admittedly were late arriving (9.30ish), due to underestimating the time to find this place. To give an example, with our 7 year old in tow, we bought a pizza in St. Girons to reheat when we arrived, only to be told the oven did not work when we arrived, and when asked how we would re-heat the pizza, we received a shrug, and the female owner walked away. The fraudulently advertised swimming pool was only partly built when we arrived, and the "breakfast patio area " -an area of weed-strewn gravel below the gite, was covered in Doberman excrement from the owners charming and unpredictable dog. Bare wires protruding from the walls, no bed for our daughter, who slept on the floor for the whole week, and no cooking facilities that worked were just the tip of the iceberg.
A rotten, rotten place run by lousy people with a bad attitude.
