Almyra Waterfront Lodge
Reviewed 23 November 2013

There are not enough superlatives to describe this lodge. My wife and I spent 3 very memorable days here. Stunning views, impeccable 5 star accommodation, together with warm, friendly hosts. Fiona and Ron treated us like long lost friends and even laid on a special kiwi barbeque one night just for us, something they say they may trial in future. We did not want to leave and will definitely be returning to this little piece of paradise. Thank you Ron and Fiona for making our stay so special.

We truly value your wonderful review and it was a pleasure to host you both here at Almyra. We too very much enjoyed our time with you and will definately be trialling the kiwi BBQ idea for guests, as an alternative to formal dinner. We hope to see you at Almyra again before too long.

The first things that struck me about Almyra were the stunning location sitting above the Moutere inlet and the sleek, understated architecture of the Lodge itself. Then you see the gardens, which are beautiful and the views to the mountains are really spectacular. The lodge itself slightly defies categorization because although it is as luxurious as any of the notable lodges in New Zealand it is far more personal and boutique - like staying in the guest wing of a top notch home. And this is only reinforced by the hospitality of Fiona and Ron. They exude genuine warmth and interest and we shared a lot of laughs over a delicious home-cooked dinner. Regrettably my colleague and I could only stay the one night - it deserves at least three - but we left feeling like we had made new friends.

Thanks so much to our hosts Ron and Fiona for a wonderful getaway in a stunning Tasman setting. The view overlooking the sea and out to the Kahurangi National Park ranges were spectacular. It is a very private & peaceful location, surrounded by beautiful gardens with easy access to relaxing strolls on the beach and the Kina peninsula.
Rooms are beautifully appointed with luxurious beds and a spacious ensuite.
The morning breakfast was fresh & delicious, great view from the dining room over a coffee and welcoming chat with the hosts.
Thank you Ron & Fiona for the perfect getaway.

My wife and myself stayed only one night at this place with scenic view from the breakfast area onto the mountains of the Abel Tasman National Park. Just great! We liked the hospitality of Fiona and Ron a lot, we got easily into contact and they cared about our stay. I used the pool of the house to enjoy a refreshing bath in the beautiful garden area.
The room was very nice, well kept and equipped with everything you need and with a perfect view onto the mountains as well. A quiet place to relax and enjoy!
Will come back for sure.

We were delighted to have you stay at Almyra Waterfront Lodge (previously Almyra at Kina Coastal Retreat) and to know that you enjoyed your stay so much - even though it was so short. We hope that you will visit us again on a return trip to New Zealand and that your daughter has enjoyed her studies in Christchurch. I am sure you will all be back!

What a find! We are so thrilled that we found Almyra for our stay to discover Abel Tasman and visit Nelson. The location is perfect because it is right between the two locations so we could stay in one place for three days. we loved our room! It had its own lounge with a small kitchen, an outside deck with an amazing view over the water, the hillsides and the snow capped mountains. We could have spent three days just relaxing on our deck, staring at the view and swimming in the pool! Fiona and Ron are lovely hosts, the breakfast is a highlight and we highly recommend their evening platters. we really can't fault anything about our stay - we look forward to coming back one day!

Room Tip: We loved our room with attached lounge - it also can connect with one of their other rooms to make a...

My husband and I recently stayed here on on our honeymoon, and I absolutely loved. The views from the room are stunning with bright blue water in the bay below the property. We're not usually bed and breakfast people, but Almyra is so beautiful, it won us over. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and well kept. There was even a bottle of wine, chocolate, and two pieces of carrot cake for us when we arrived! Fiona and Ron are excellent hosts, and the breakfast was a delicious respite from all of our "travel food." They also have a selection of DVD's to watch, a gorgeous swimming pool, spa, and well-furnished living areas. I could've spent another couple of days just relaxing at Almyra!

We were lucky enough to sneak away to peaceful, beautifully appointed Almyra for a two day break, and it lives up to the hype. Spotlessly clean, gorgeous gardens (can't wait to go back and see them in summer!), and a comfortable room with every little touch of thoughtfulness you could ask for. Big comfortable bed with beautiful linens, free wifi, and tea and coffee. The bathroom was spacious with a gorgeous shower and underfloor heating.
Ron and Fiona are gracious, charming, helpful, and friendly, but respect your privacy as well. Breakfast in the morning was fresh, tasty, and perfect, and served in a lovely setting overlooking the gardens, estuary, and mountain ranges in the distance.
Almyra strikes the perfect balance of making you feel welcome and comfortable (spoiled even), while maintaining a sense of quiet and privacy.
We are already planning our return trip. Thanks so much!
