Sorry for belated review! Visited Lucy and Angel in October and had a wonderful time! The environment was relaxing, warm and friendly. The room was perfect for us with patio doors opening on to a patio, the gardens and swimming pool beyond. Lucy and Angel made us warmly welcome. We ate in the hotel in the evening and I loved all the home cooked, locally sourced food and wine it was delicious and plentiful. My mum had stayed with them before and had a lovely stay in May too and I could see why she wanted to come back. Walking in the area was great and it was lovely to come back and chill by the pool and read in the relaxed surroundings before the evening meal. Would highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful place to stay. It is a lovely house in an attractive town with traditional whitewashed houses in narrow streets in a non-touristy area. (Bringing a large car is definitely something to avoid if you possibly can!) The rooms are lovely, comfortable, well-equipped and very quiet. All look over the terrace and the swimming pool with no road in sight.

To add to this, Lucy and Angel are great hosts. Lucy provides delicious meals. On days that she does not cook, they go to great trouble to help you choose a nearby restaurant that appeals and to book a table for you there. If you want a walk, they make suggestions to fit the type and length that appeals – and are excellent at judging which walks will get you to a local restaurant at the right time for a traditionally late Spanish lunch. They also provide excellent photographic walking route guides – we never got lost – with enough variety for a week’s stay. Breakfasts offer various traditional homemade patés and local honey in addition to the usual items and goodness knows how many different type of olive oil that Angel will be delighted to guide you through. And he makes a really great cup of breakfast coffee.

An excellent place to enjoy a week of relaxation and countryside activities.

Room Tip: All rooms have the same outlook over the terrace and swimming pool and are individually furnished...

lovely place to stay for walking in the Sierra De Aracena. Hosts Lucy and Angel run a first class establishment at the Posada de San Marcos and the area is outstanding for relaxing, walking and birdwatching.

We have been meaning to return to Alajar for a year or 2 and now that the new hotel is open we wanted to see Lucy and Angel's eco accomodation and visit at a different time of year - we were not disappointed.
The new rooms all open out onto the lovely outdoor spaces with terraces and gardens either directly from the door, or from a balcony, so the rooms have an instantly relaxing feel. Even in November it was warm enough to sit on the balcony to read my book and I loved the new garden and pool area with its fantastic views up to La Pena and the surrounding hills. Lucy's evening meals were spot on again, with the cosy restaurant buzzing with conversation from the other guests and Angel was able to give us suggestions for walks we hadn't tried last time. All in all would highly recommend a stay, for friendly service, helpful advice and comfy rooms, not to mention great breakfasts and evening meals. Keep up the hard work!

We have just spent a wonderful few days celebrating New Year in Alajar. Lucy and Angel welcomed us into their charming, Eco-friendly hotel as if we were family! We thoroughly enjoyed the walks in beautiful countryside, the photo slide shows entertaining us at breakfast and in the evening. Angel is very knowledge able about the local culture and gastronomy and Lucy is a greet cook. The highlight of our holiday was the New Year's Eve celebration meal - learning about the Iberian jamon, watching Angel carve the ham, having a go ourselves and then tasting it.
we have no hesitation in recommending this delightful hotel. We wish Angel and Lucy well with their venture.

La Posada de San Marcos is a pleasant place to stay in a beautiful area. We enjoyed the quiet village setting after spending time in the cities. We did two day-hikes that were interesting and enjoyable. The proprietors were interesting and friendly, and even provided us with a ride into Seville when we continued our trip. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and our room was excellent.

Very nice stay and walking experience in Andalusie. Friendly and warm hospitality. Nice rooms and facilities. Routes for walking available. The rooms on the ground floor have assess to the garden and nice pool area for relaxing after a day walking in the very nice surroundings. We had a nice dinner in the evening on the terrace. The picnics we were provided by Lucy were very tasty during our walkings.
