stayed here for 3 nights as part of a walking trip, lucy and angel were extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. although the rooms are a little on the small side,we had a room with a small balcony onto the street, good place to spot the stork and its family on the church roof. lucys food is excellent and she uses local produce. much better than eating out at the local restaurants we are sure. definately would recommend as alajar itself is very pretty with great walking nearby

Lucy took time to give us really good advice and information before we decided to visit the hotel. Hotel in great position right on the street so especially good to be in a front room with a small balcony. Breakfasts were excellent and dinner very good too. Emphasis on local ingredients and recipes was much appreciated. The town is interesting and although small, is lively with cafes and restaurants. For us the walking was a highlight: beautiful paths and the wild flowers were absolutely spectacular. Lucy arranged for us to walk to a nearby small town and stay for 2 nights.Lucy and Angel provide a really good and friendly service and at a very reasonable cost.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of hotel have small balcony.

Lucy and Angel are warm and welcoming hosts. They are knowledgeable about the area - Lucy gives helpful and informative tips about walking and Angel has good advice about local restaurants, as well as being passionate about environmental issues and energy conservation. Some of the local restaurants are great - but they are not all open every day, so on some days when Lucy is not cooking an evening meal the local choice of places to eat is limited.
The area is well supplied with well marked walking routes - plenty of circular walks, many on old cobbled donkey tracks. The wildflowers (late April) were wonderful - varied and plentiful with lots that I hadn't seen on previous holidays in Europe.

Lucy and Angel made us feel so welcome in their absolute gem of a hotel.
The room was spotless and carefully furnished with local items that added a rural charm. Breakfasts are a treat - help yourself to fresh fruit, cereals and toast, with Lucy's home made jams and pates and Angel's selection of olive oils to have with the local organic honey. The 3 course dinners and superb Spanish style picnics did not disappoint either (with Lucy being able to cater for fish eating veggies with no problem). Local organic wines are available to try too.
We found Lucy and Angel to be fountains of knowledge about the area - not just from a walking point of view - they know all the walks and have innovative photo-guides to help you find your way available, but also on local history and culture, bird-life, flowers, places to visit, where to eat and so on, which was really helpful. Both are fluent Spanish/English and have guidebooks to borrow whilst you are there, as well as a library for exchanging holiday reads. They are opening a second hotel this year with pool facilities and garden with terraces which will be available for posada guests - can't wait to go back!
All in all - a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a special hotel which offers great value for money in an amazingly beautiful part of the world.

Room Tip: Talk to Lucy and Angel - for real local knowledge

There's not much to add to all the positive reviews here, but we had a lovely stay and wanted to recommend to others. A family run hotel with a lovely atmosphere and very friendly, helpful owners. Lovely home-made breakfasts, with virtually all the produce grown locally (and organically). Rooms were of a good size (with heating/aircon), clean and comfortable, like the rest of the hotel. All-in-all, excellent value for money.

The village itself is great, a couple of restaurants, 2 or 3 bars, and a pleasant place to wonder with great walking on the doorstep, and plenty of other interesting villages to visit nearby.
