“A beautiful relaxing break”

A beautiful, picturesque little town. The pretty hills surrounding the bed and breakfast made me feel so peaceful. The food is great, hosts are lovely, beds are big & comfy and the rooms are spacious. Hire a car to explore the surrounding countryside, and take some walking shoes to explore the national park. I loved this place & hope to return soon. See my pictures for the view from my bedroom window.

This is truly a lovely B&B. We stayed for a week and didn;t want to leave. As non-Italian speakers visiting the area for the first time our Australian hosts, Rob& Pauline helped with local knowledge, suggestions for day trips & suggestions for restaurants. The nearby countryside is beautiful, quiet hilltop villages, spectacular views, mountain walks, rivers and busy market towns. For the best food in the region though you don't need to leave La Mela Rosa. Pauline not only provides delicious meals on request but both she and Robert are consumate hosts. Eat out if you feel you must but early in your stay have Pauline spoil you with one of her meals. The Betts have lovingly renovated La Mela Rosa, the rooms are not only examples of fine building craftmanship they are comfortable, well equipped and have beautiful, private views. Everything here is first class, a character filled building, comfortable beds, lovely linen, delicious breakfasts and charming hosts.

An old farmhouse extensively and beautifully renovated with lovely views about 10-15 minutes' drive from Amandola, so a car is required. Pauline is a great cook and she and Rob are knowledgeable and generous hosts. Interesting towns in driving distances from the B and B and good walks in nearby national park. Highly recommended for a peaceful stay and an Italian country experience.

What an amazing place! I was really surprised to drive around Le Marche and see how gorgeous it really was. As most tourists do, usually I stay in Tuscany or Umbria but this time I decided to explore more of Italy so it was on to Le Marche. And I have to say, it was nice to get away from the crowds of Tuscany and Umbria!

I definitely picked the best place to stay! La Mela Rosa is a gorgeous farmhouse on a beautiful well-kept property with gorgeous views all around. Closeby is the town of Amandola which had everything you need including delicious gelato at the bar! But my favourite part of the day would have to be breakfast - sitting outside to an amazing breakfast with stunning views. You really appreciate the countryside when you've been travelling around for weeks so it was definitely just what the doctor ordered before heading off to Rome and then back to Sydney Australia.

But I think what really made my trip to La Mela Rosa special were my hosts. Pauline and Rob were the best hosts ever! Very easy to talk to and really interested in getting to know you. They made me very welcome in their home, cooked fantastic breakfasts and offered so much advice on what to see in and around the area. Even if you've done your homework, you can always count on the locals to recommend the best places to visit and eat!

I have no hesitation in recommending La Mela Rosa to anyone wishing to visit Le Marche - you definitely won't be disappointed with hosts such as Pauline and Rob. I'll definitely be back - sooner rather than later I hope!

I always wanted to go to Tuscany and stay in an Italian Villa/Country house, however once I found La Mela Rosa in Amondala we changed our plans. We were so glad we did. La Mela Rosa is beautiful, it has all the modern elements (like great showers and very comfortable beds), yet the decor still gives the air of an Italian country house. Our hosts Pauline and Robert were an absolute joy. They made us feel very welcome and were very knowlegdeable and helpful with recommendations of where to go and what to see. Breakfast is great too! The Town of Amondala and the surround towns are very picturesque - everything I imagined the romance of the Italian country-side would be. I can't wait to go back!

At the top of a winding road, bordered by woods of walnuts, hazelnuts, cherries, figs, wild deer, pinemartins, porcupines, wild boar and pheasants, La Mela Rosa Bed and Breakfast, with climbing roses up its old stone walls, beckons you. The view from the patio encompasses an almost 360 degree panorama of rolling hills and, in the distance, snow-capped mountains.
The original stone house was built as a farm house 200 years ago for the farm hand and his family. The wealthy farm owner lived in Amandola a few kilometers away. The farmer moved out of this building in 1973 and it was then used as a storeroom. A weather-beaten sign points up the road to La Mela Rosa, Italian for a “red apple” that grows in the region.

La Mela Rosa has been beautifully restored with three very spacious queen size bedrooms on the second floor, replete with antique furniture, handmade quilts, huge fluffy towels, and views of the valley from each window. The “Australian size” large bathrooms include bidets, roomy showers and great attention to detail. Nothing has been overlooked, even down to the handmade soap. Because of the slope of the hillside, this guest level has walk-out accessibility to the car park behind the house. A cosy sitting room is also available on this level for exclusive guest use. Downstairs, the old cattle stalls have become a larger sitting room with fireplace, which extends into a dining room area for breakfast and also dinner on request. A beautifully equipped kitchen finishes off the ground level, invitingly designed for guests to sit and talk with hosts Pauline and Rob as they prepare their delicious meals from local fresh produce.
When the weather obliges, La Mela Rosa breakfasts are served on the patio overlooking the valley through which the Tenna River flows with its otters and fishing. The whole area oozes with peace and tranquility, the perfect place to stop for a few nights but preferably a week. There are well marked graded walking trails through the area, bike paths and places simply to sit and take it all in. The whole region is unspoilt, much like Italy used to be. Nearby Amandola is a picture-book little fortress town dating from 1248 which has its own life beyond tourists.
Pauline is fluent in Italian and will arrange cooking classes, hiking and walking events, wine tasting, truffle hunting, and art tours in the hill top towns around the house, such as Monte San Martino, Ascoli and Smerillo, which boast valuable art collections and architectural delights,.
Pauline and Robs’ bed and breakfast is very accessible. You can travel there by luxury bus from Rome to Amandola – about 4 hours – with your hosts meeting you in town for coffee at the start of your stay. It is also possible to come by train or simply hire a car and follow the directions. If you have been to Italy many times, or if this is your first visit, you are in for a not-to-be-missed treat!

We stayed at La Mela Rosa for a week.
Our hosts Robert & Pauline were wonderful. Robert is English and Pauline is Australian.
Pauline speaks fluent Italian and knows the area very well - Pauline was passionate about the area and knows all the places to go, the restaurants at which to eat, the walks and the markets.
La Mela Rosa has three huge double guest rooms each with en-suite. The rooms are beautifully finished with antique furniture, cool wooden floors, and luxuriously comfortable beds.
We had our breakfast on the terrace overlooking the valley - it could not have been better.
Finding the road from Amandola to La Mela Rosa isn't simple but if you call PAuline or Robert will guide you there.
