We stayed at La Cachette in the Montfort room, for 4 nights in April 2013. John and Marion made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of helpful advice to make the most of our time in the beautiful Dordogne. The room was absolutely lovely with stunning views, and the breakfasts were simply delicious. We had a wonderful holiday here, and would love to return one day.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a review about La Cachette. We enjoy welcoming guests into our home and helping them get the most out of their holiday in the beautiful Dordogne. It is good to see familiar faces returning as they continue to explore this lovely region of France. John & Marion

This was our first visit to the Dordogne and our holiday was made even more enjoyable by the warm welcome we received on arrival at La Cachette.

It was a pleasure to stay in John & Marion’s lovely home and our room was large, very clean and comfortable. Lots of little French touches made us feel we were not staying in a B&B but being welcomed into a home. The varied breakfasts were excellent.

The location of La Cachette could not have been better as it was an easy short drive to visit Sarlat and Marion gave us directions on the best way to reach many of the other places to visit. Every drive was beautiful with something different to see. We returned “home” at the end of each day and were lucky with the weather that we could still enjoy some warm sun out on the terrace. The misty autumn mornings across the valley were spectacular especially when the hot air balloons popped up over the hill.

We will definitely return to La Cachette to explore this beautiful part of France, as there is so much still to see. Thank you John & Marion for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and we are looking forward to our next visit.

What a great find!! We stayed for ten nights at the begining of September 2012 , we wished it had been longer.Every thing about La Cachette was superb, the location, the rooms and first class breakfasts with a different theme each day. Best of all was the hospitality of John and Marion which was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, they had a wealth of knowledge as to the region and directions to the attractions as well as very good recommendations for local restaurants.
By the time we left we felt that we were saying goodbye to friends. We will defiantly be back!!

We booked to stay for a week at La Cachette on the recommendation of friends who had also stayed there a couple of years ago. We were not disappointed; in fact we were overwhelmed by the generosity of John and Marion in terms of accommodation, food and advice. Nothing was too much trouble and Marion's breakfasts are rated by us more highly than any other continental breakfast we've savoured during our 25 years of holidaying in many European countries. We opted to stay in the room with an en suite and found it clean, comfortable and spacious. It was very much home from home. As others have mentioned, John and Marion treated us as if we were personal friends and every piece of travel advice they gave was valued. They even recommended where we might park to get the best view of the Tour de France and avoid the crowds for the Saturday market in Sarlat, as well as which routes to take to avoid congestion and which chateaux were.the most interesting. We hope to revisit the area in the future and would not hesitate to book again at La Cachette! The location of the guest house at first appeared to be a little remote, being 20 mins or so from Sarlat, but we were so pleased that we had not chosen the latter as our base. Grolejac is perfectly situated to access many of the interesting sights and villages to visit. We highly recommend this as a superb holiday destination.

We arrived as John and Marion's guests and left as their friends. Despite travelling quite widely in Europe, we have never enjoyed a stay more - anywhere.

My wife and I stayed with John and Marion at La Cashette in August 2012 for two fabulous weeks. As is usual for La Cashette, we wish we could have stayed even longer. The location is perfect, on a hillside, enjoying lovely views from the terrace, on which to enjoy a evening drink of wine whilst watching the sun set across the valley, after which the dark skies provide an amazing starscape!

The room we enjoyed was large, tastefully furnished, very clean and very comfortable. We really couldn't have asked for more.As our room overlooked the valley, our morning view was a great start to each day and the al fresco breakfasts were a delight: varied and tasty choices always beautifully presented.

Touring from La Cashette is terrific because of its location and Marion's tips on best routes and places, which were tailored to our preferences and saved a lot of time on less scenic journeys. We avoided bottlenecks and enjoyed the most scenic viewpoints.

John and Marion lift this above the excellent to the superb. My wife and I cannot recommend La Cashette highly enough and, needless to say, we intend to return!

Room Tip: Both rooms are superb - we were shown both when there, by John and Marion. You simply choose en suit...

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in July 2012. We wish we had stayed longer as there was so much to see and do in the Dordogne region and La Cachette is a perfect base from which to do so. John and Marion were so welcoming you couldn't have asked for better B & B hosts. They are very helpful when it comes to booking restaurants or giving directions, in fact the directions they gave us were superb, we never got lost! The breakfast was delightful and consisted of homemade breads, various cheeses, jams, meats, cereals and yoghurts. The accommodation itself was on a hilltop and gave stunning views across the valleys. Very clean and very comfortable you couldn't ask for more. We will almost certainly go back.
