The Beloved Hotel has set the bar so incredibly high; I truly do not think we could get this amazing of an experience anywhere else. We went to the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon, and my husband was not impressed. For our one year anniversary, I read countless reviews and did a ton of research to find the perfect spot - the Beloved had an overwhelming amount of positive reviews so I booked our trip and kept my fingers crossed that I could impress my husband with this place. Let's just say that in the DR, he couldn't wait to get home. At the Beloved, he didn't want to leave! He's already trying to plan when we can go back!!

After booking the trip, I found their Facebook and Instagram pages. I love that they are active on social media! It kept me looking forward to our trip and also abreast of the various offerings and activities we could participate in. I mentioned on their FB page how excited we were to come, and they replied saying that they "hope to exceed our expectations." Well, exceed they did - above and beyond what we could've ever dreamed of or wished for our first anniversary!

Everything was perfect. Everything. The hotel really could not have done one thing better - it was all top notch from our arrival to our departure. When we arrived around 5:30pm, we were greeted with a big smile and welcome champagne by Christian. Once in the lobby, Claudia was so sweet and helpful with our check-in. It was quick and easy, and she informed us that we would be upgraded to a casita as a special treat for our anniversary. Wow! We were already blown away! We stayed in Tierna, and it was awesome being right across from the Isla Grill - close to the pool and beach!

We ate at Lupita for dinner our first night and had Freddy and Hernan serving us. Audrey, the restaurant supervisor, came to ask our table if everything was going ok. My husband asked if they had any Coor's Light (which I knew they didn't, but he still asked anyway). Audrey said she didn't think so. Then, a few minutes later, she comes to our table with a super cold bottle of Coor's Light. My husband's face was priceless with delight at the surprise. It was then that I knew all the other reviews were true - the staff here will make every effort to please you. They truly care about delighting their guests! Thank you to Freddy, Hernan, and Audrey for a wonderful first impression of Lupita! Speaking of dinner, the food was EXCELLENT. It was prepared well, presented well, and tasted fantastic! We didn't have one dish at this hotel that we didn't love. We felt there was plenty of variety for a 5 day stay.

The grounds of the hotel are kept pristine and the rooms are immaculate. We had a mattress softener put on our bed and slept like babies. The pools were a comfortable temperature and the staff worked so hard to ensure you were taken care of. Christian ("Cat") at the swim-up pool bar was so much fun to joke with and he made us some awesome drinks! Manolo and Eduardo served us at the beach and by the pool as well. Both were incredibly friendly and we enjoyed talking with them and getting to know more about them personally. We truly felt like all of the staff made us feel like family!

We really enjoyed eating lunch at El Mar each day. It is right on the beach and the breeze and atmosphere is so relaxing and perfect. We were greeted by Yamily's sweet smiling face and served by Alberto and Alfonso. They were always attentive and my husband loved that they called him "amigo" all the time. Like I already said, they really make you feel like you're good friends!

We ordered room service for breakfast and also ate at Aroma. Room service was fantastic! The dishes were hot and made to order. We loved having breakfast on our patio! Aroma was also a treat for breakfast. You could order from a menu and/or eat from a buffet. The buffet setup was very well planned and thought-out. I happened to meet Pablo, the kitchen manager at breakfast one morning and he gave me a quick tour of the buffet. He informed me that everything that comes from their kitchen is fresh and made from scratch - nothing is packaged. WOW! Even the breads, jams, compote, etc… are made by hand. They even had a live honeycomb dripping fresh honey… that blew me away! (We are really into eating clean, healthy meals, so we were extra appreciative of the fact that we could eat very healthy on our vacation. Even better, the food tasted spectacular! Natura Bar had AWESOME fresh fruit smoothies!)

Pablo then asked if he could make us a special dinner for our anniversary that night. When we arrived at Lupita, we were presented with a specially printed menu that was just for us with our names and all the courses. WOW! We were in heaven! We had Hernan serve us again and he was such a fun waiter. He spoke perfect English (and as a side note - pretty much EVERYone at this hotel speaks very good English) and we learned that he lived in the US for quite a while. Very cool! He brought out some chocolate covered strawberries on a plate that said "Happy Anniversary!" for dessert. Such a sweet surprise!

We get back to our room that night and we had a sign on our door, turndown service, flowers and rose petals in a heart shape on our bed, and champagne/fruit/nice card left congratulating us. Seriously, we were so humbled by their efforts to make us feel special on our anniversary.

We had the pleasure of meeting Heriberto, the sommelier. He did an OUTSTANDING job making us feel welcome and speaking with us about his passion of food and drinks - we could tell he loved his profession and he was very good at it! We decided to book a private cigar/scotch tasting with him, and we loved it! Highly recommended! We got to each try two nice cigars and 3 different scotches. Thank you to Heriberto for that wonderful experience!

On our last night, we ate at Aroma for dinner and were greeted by Sarai with a big smile! She knew it was our last night and said how sad it was that we had to leave. It was amazing how all the staff knew who we were and that we were there celebrating our anniversary. They really keep great tabs on their guests! We had Emiliano as our server and he really stood out to us. He had a lot of heart and you could tell he was really aiming to please. We very much appreciated his efforts to make our last dinner special. Please give him our regards and appreciation! He brought by a cheese cart to our table and allowed us to sample some cheeses - very neat touch. At the end of our meal, he brought a special dessert with "Have a nice trip" on the plate and performed a little show with some fire and brandy. We just loved it!

One thing we both really appreciated besides the healthy food was the fitness center. There was a gym with nice, new equipment and a studio room for group classes. I loved being able to workout every morning! Jorge, the gym manager was so nice, greeting me in the mornings. One day I had left and was walking when I felt a tap on my shoulder. He had brought my sunglasses that I had forgotten in the gym. Thank you, Jorge!

Finally, we checked out at noon, but our airport transfer wasn't arriving until 3:30. They were still so kind to let us go enjoy lunch and then… a real treat… We spent our final two hours with William in the lobby bar. It was just us and he mixed up some of the most amazing cocktails I've ever had. This guy is a truly talented bartender! He also entertained us by showing us a part of the mixology process… So very cool! Before we knew it, our driver had arrived and we were NOT ready to go home. :(

Unfortunately, with only a 5-day stay, we didn't get to experience everything. On our to-do list for next trip is: a bike ride/tour in the morning, a spa treatment, non-motorized water sports, mixology class, and tequila tasting. This place is PERFECT if you want a relaxing vacation. There are activities if you wish to participate, but you can also just lay at the beach or pool all day and be perfectly content. As others have mentioned, you don't really notice the babies. The ones that were here were pretty cute and well behaved.

The Beloved Hotel stopped short of nothing to ensure we had the most amazing, memorable first year anniversary trip. We cannot go anywhere else for fear that it just won't measure up to the Beloved. The people are true gems and we can't wait to go back to see all of our amigos again soon! Much love to you all!

**Final note on things not having to do with the hotel: Early-mid November is the end of hurricane season, so the weather was patchy with bits of rain and clouds followed by sun each day. The temperature was very pleasant. There is also quite a bit of sea grass on the beach due to the tide. There was a guy out there bulldozing, but there wasn't much that could be done about it. Didn't bother us. The amount of seaweed does create a sewage like smell that was pretty strong at certain points in the day. Curious to visit in late spring/early summer to see if there is a difference.

Room Tip: Tierna casita is super close to Isla Grill and the pool - great location

We really enjoyed this hotel. The food was very good, especially the evening meals at the Specialty Restaurants, each with it's own theme. We felt there was more than enough choices and never felt bored with the food. The desserts were excellent-creme brulee and the chocolate raspberry type cake at the Aroma Restaurant were wonderful. Had a Lamb dish there that was cooked perfect and every night they had an ethnic themed side menu (french one night and greek the other) in addition to the main menu, The rooms are beautiful! But what wraps all these things up and seals the package are the people that work so hard to make you smile, the're being happy made us happy! There's a nice comradery between them, especially at the Isla Grill. We took other reviews advice and brought lots of small bills and always tipped, they never acted like they expected it but what a smile of appreciation they had when you did-the hotel is beautiful, the food is delicous but the workers can make or break it-they always wanted to know how everything was and if there was anything more they could do for you. We were in the jacuzzi and the towel lady came over and started laying towels out on our sun bed (it had rained and she was drying it off for us and laying out fresh ones), the young lady at the pool by Isla Grill kept the bathroom spotless, all done with a smile. Just wanted to mention those that aren't as visible as the waiters are. Not sure what you want to drink? Just give that gregarious bartender at the swim up bar an idea of what you like and he'll have several suggestions. We had a late flight back and even though we had to check out at noon they allowed us to use the facilites until we left at 3:30pm. (even sent us off with "Good-Bye" cookie packages)
THanks for a great vacation and some nice memories-we celebrated our anniversary and they did not disappoint!! Rose petals and champagne!
If I could give one constructive criticism it would be to keep the jacuzzis hot, we had to ask two days in a row for them to heat it up. We also noticed the pool was warmer on our last day and could feel the hot water being pumped in-what a difference it made since it was rainy and cool half the time we were there. It made the pool so much more enjoyable. As others have said, the beds are very firm, we asked for a topper and it helped. So many other little things they did that it's too much to mention. We'll be back!

The beloved hotel, owned by the excellence resorts, is exactly as described. We have stayed at multiple all inclusive resorts in the carribean and The Beloved tops them all. It is a small resort with only 1 restaurant for breakfast, 2 for lunch and 3 for dinner. The food is by far the best of any all inclusive that we have visited. The service is unmatched. The staff is friendly without being intrusive. We stayed in terrace suite that was incredible. A huge deck with 3 beds and a plunge pool. We had reserved a 2 story casita beach front but the weather was bad so they upgraded us to the terrace suite. If you get a beach front casita I would recommend the consentida building as it is closest to beach but also offers the most privacy. The stocked bar in the room was nice and contained good quality brands. As noted in previous reviews, try the sushi bar. I was skeptical but I must admit that it was terrific.
Overall this resort is ideal for someone looking to truly relax in a quiet setting. There were times when we were the only ones in the pool or restaurant. In addition, it is good for families with small kids, five and under. They have a nice kids section with slides water park and playground. Older kids might be bored. If you do not want to see kids, the resort next door Excellence is adult only and is very nice. It is much bigger and has a lot more going on. If you want activities and social activities I would stay next door. That being said, my wife and I preferred the quiet relaxing atmosphere of the beloved.

Room Tip: Choose casita conventida , or terrace suites 235 or 335 if possible.

So far the best hotel we've ever stayed at. We have received so much comfort, hospitality, basically any need has been delivered with a broad smile in that beautiful, charming place. It is far away from crowds, quiet, yet exceptional both for us and our kids. Spacey rooms, delicious fresh food, and Service again. We especially recommend rooms with private gardens. And finally on the top of that, very affordable. Even more, you can't beat it when comparing price to quality. It is definitely one of the must see places.

We stayed at The Beloved for 14 nights in October. We were greeted by Edgar (a really nice man who appears never to go home) in the spacious reception area who showed us to our 2 storey beach front Casita. This was our second stay here and I don't know how but it was even better this time around.

We found the food to be exceptional this year. In The Isla Grill they had improved the choice by offering to cook certain dishes at the table which is not only enjoyable but also entertaining. Noe and Adrian, who made us some wonderful dishes, were great characters and attentive servers as are all the staff. Pablo the Head Waiter was great at breakfast and lunch and he made sure everything ran smoothly.

We didn't have a bad meal at all and we loved the whole experience of dining as the staff are so happy and friendly. It really comes over that they seemed to actually enjoy their work. Christian, Antonio and Concepcion were great at breakfast and lunch along with Freddy and Alberto.

A welcome new addition in The Aroma restaurant at dinner was a cheese cart where they offered many different varieties of cheeses. Sarai was very knowledgeable and was a lovely girl. Also at The Aroma where they serve breakfast they now offer an egg station outside as well as the menu and buffet.

We booked the kitchen tour and also cooking with the chef this year and it made us appreciate the cleanliness and work that goes in to preparing all the food and the quality of the ingredients. We were lucky to cook with Executive Chef Juan Garcia who prepared a marvellous 3 course meal in which we "helped". Don't have lunch before you go on this tour as you are served this in the restaurant with different wines provided by the excellent Heriberto. (We must try the wine tasting run by him the next time we go). I think this was one of the highlights of hubby's holiday as he is a keen cook.

The Lupita Lounge was great for a pre-dinner drink (and post dinner as well). We liked sitting there listening to the various singers, musicians and DJ that played every evening. The Sushi served there was also very enjoyable.

We also appreciated the assorted theme nights at the El Mar restaurant on the beach. They even had bands and other entertainment through the day at the pool for an hour or so which we liked. Another new addition for us was a friendly game of poker also at the pool area and run by the staff - no money changed hands - but you can win a Spa treatment. Incidentally we tried the spa and it was one of the best we have been to. We tried the Hydrotherapy circuit and then a couple’s massage. Both brilliant. Also people from the Spa came round to the pool or beach area at midday and carried out various free treatments such as massage and hand classes. On top of this the chefs also came round the beach during the day with different nibbles for us to try.

We took a trip to Isla Mujeres where we hired a golf cart with a driver. It cost 250 Pesetas and we were out about 2 hours. He took us to all the places we had read about and wanted to see and then dropped us off at the beach. We found 2 hours more than adequate to see the island. We also went to see the zoo by the hotel main gates but they only have parrots there now, but still a nice walk out.

The only slight downside to the hotel was the Housekeeping where we didn't get the towels changed a couple of times. We heard they were in the process of changing the Head Housekeeper but by the end of the holiday things were much improved. We also asked for a mattress topper and our favourite drinks in the room before we arrived. All was there on arrival.

A special thanks to Carina who goes above and beyond the call of duty and made this holiday one to remember. We must also mention Marcela the Chief Concierge who was always so helpful and Patricio a charming and helpful man who was always working but always had time for a smile and chat. Gabriel Garcias the General Manager was very sociable and he often chatted to us and other guests. He manages a great team and should be very proud of them.

I know I have missed out lots of names but to everyone we met at the hotel thank you for a wonderful holiday. If I could give it 6 stars then I would. We can't wait to go back.

This are 2nd time staying at this resort. In 2012 it was under a different name. The resort and the rooms are kept immaculately clean. I should have written a review on our first stay back in 2012 but I never got around to it. Of course with us returning in 2013 means it was an excellent experience. First staying we had the Beach Front Casita Suite with Plunge Pool. Room was nice and the pool is decent in size and about 4'6" deep. Which my 8 year old daughter at the time loved. Since she is a water bug this was nice because after dinner she was able to swim while my wife and myself enjoyed a cocktail while watching here. The food was excellent that time. Excellent Breakfast , Lunch by the pool consisted of grilled shrimp on skewers and cous cous . The Best dinners where at the restaurant by the beach. However on our 2nd stay we had the Ocean View Terrace Suite with Plunge Pool. Nice room with a very large terrace with great views however the pool is more like a hot tub. Similar staff from first visit. Very polite and very attentive. Anything you need they will do and in a timely manner. The only disappointing thing was the food. The breakfast was very good, but lunches and dinners where average on below. I however did discuss this with the management and they had me speak to the chef. He apologized and asked what he could do to make it right. I mentioned for him to make a dinner with the mayan recipes that he specialized in. He arrived at the restaurant at an instance I knew this was going to be good. Basically several people where waiting on us. The chef prepared a four course meal for us. He came out of the kitchen on each course to explain each dish. My daughter was in amazed by the food and the attention. The spa is I believe priced fairly and do an excellent job. Plus whether its the person behind the bar at the pool or the person cleaning the room they go out of their way to make sure you are happy. The reason I'm giving a very good on the food is because the chef going out of his way to make us happy. Hopefully the food at this resort will return to how it was before, but the again that's the problem resorts have when the go all-inclusive. The first time you paid a modest rate per day for food. Maybe they will bring that back its worth it.
