We loved this resort. It was very luxurious and beautiful. The rooms are like luxurious apartments which include a huge jacuzzi bathtub, granite counters, stainless appliances and a washer & dryer in each apartment. There are a bunch of swimming pools and the restaurants are not all buffet food. The food was amazing! The only thing this resort could use is a club and swim up bar but I have been told they are building two more resorts next to it that will include these amenities.

You may have to do a time share but if you don't want it just say no and continue on with a great trip!

Room Tip: Rooms higher than the 2nd floor should have a great ocean view.

Great service, delicious food, awesome time! Everything was perfect. We've enjoyed live music every day from a Cuban band who played all the songs that came into our minds! Great atmosphere will go back anytime.

Our review is mix and is categorized as below with comments :
Room and view : Excellent. We had 2 bedroom suite with a beach view. All the rooms at this property have view of the beach - either at an angle or full and direct view. Rooms are large and well equipped.
Service : very poor service at the front desk and also at concierge. They forgot to provide welcome info the day and time when we arrived so that made us plan everything one day later so we lost valuable one day time. Front desk manager and others did not have consistent information and understanding of rules, guidelines, coverage, amenities etc. For example, front desk person who checked us in told us that internet, spa, premium food and beverages can be covered with any Room Credit we may have like Costco Credit but the manager quickly answered that only premium beverages and food is covered. He was wrong but then he was not very professional in communication. Similar experience with Concierge where they were not consistent in honoring spa service cost with Costco credit.
Restaurants and Food : there are four restaurants and one fast food kind of place. one of them is a sushi place open for dinner. Another one is stake place open only for dinner. so now you are left with one Mexican restaurant for lunch. so being a vegetarian, we were left with only Mexican food at lunch and Italian kind of place for dinner. Drinks were very light with alcohol. We had to request to make the drink stronger. Otherwise you are drinking lot of sugar/syrup water.
Beach : There is no beach. The sand is not real. It is artificial powdered thing spreaded on the narrow beach but the layer is very thin and the underneath hard surface could hurt you. There are no other hotels next to it so from that point of view beach is secluded but artificial sand is horrible.
Outdoor amenities : We were surprised that Tower#2 (where the front lobby is) did not have an elevator. Our room was in Tower#2 and we had to walk back and forth to get to the front lobby.
Employees : Dilila who is the lead person at Concierge eventually understood customer satisfaction and is great person and an employee. Ernesto is a great cook at The Davino restaurant and served us special vegetarian dishes. Eduardo, a manager at The Davino, also provided good customer service and had good understanding of customer satisfaction experience.
Internet and Wi-Fi service : Horrible. Even if you pay $10 for the service, it does not work in rooms (our room right above the front lobby). Also the Server system can not assign more than one account per room - that means only one device can have access to Wi-Fi be cause the username is your last name underwhich the room is reserved. if you have laptop, tablet and iPhone per family member in 2 room suite, you have to choose one (out of may be 2 times 4 people = 8 devices) and decide which device is the family device. Good Luck with that if you have teenagers. :-)
All Inclusive : may be overrated because drinks are not strong enough and mostly syrup based water. Also if you are vegetarian , then not many choices for good lunch and dinner menu. if the menu and its prices are correct, for family of four our lunch used to be around $110-$130 depending upon the drinks (one or two). so with a difference of almost $2000 between all inclusive and not inclusive, cooking in a nice kitchen that they have, hiring a taxing to nearby town/downtown and eating at these restaurants time for 2-3 times may be better way to go.
Temperature in the pool: too high. it was in the range of 85degree. Outside temp is hot, were expecting little lower in the pool. Less shades around the pool area.
Property tour and sales program : you spend your hour an half for nothing. if you are staying at the hotel, the deals and discounts you get is very little compare to people coming in from other hotels from the hotel zone. the breakfast provided is continental breakfast and no comparison the breakfast served at The Davino (regular breakfast place). So this seems like a waste of time.
We have stayed at Villa Del Palmar in Puerto Vallarta and had good experience overall except the restaurants. the property is copy exact. so we overall like rooms/property.

Room Tip: Get a room in Tower#2 for full and direct view of the ocean. Tower#3 gets lots of sun. Tower#1 gets...

We stayed at Villa del Palmar from 6/28-7/2 as part of a timeshare promotion. We upgraded to the 1BR suite which was great. Nicely furnished, very spacious and great amenities- 2 baths, full kitchen and laundry. The resort was really nice 5 pools, daily activities and water sports. The location is outside on Cancun so not the place to be if you want to be near town and the action. We were pretty burnt out so we mainly stayed on the resort and were happy. We had an all inclusive that came with the package but didn't include the steak house or sushi restaurant. The food was good overall and there was a theme buffet each night by the pool to provide some variety.

The only bad thing I can say about this resort was the timeshare presentation. We had a really nice sales rep but the manager who came to try and close us was horrible. I own a timeshare and have been to plenty presentations so I know the routine. We were actually interested in buying in Mexico but he got really defensive as I asked questions and literally went off on us saying that we were being rude and the timeshare was not for us. I was livid for at least 2 hours after, I have never been treated like that by anyone who was trying to get my money.

They really need to fire that guy but although the other staff were apologetic you can tell nothing was going to get done about him.

I would visit the resort again and just probably use the exchange program with my timeshare.

The hotel was more beautiful than the pictures. We loved our one bedroom suite overlooking the ocean. The accommodations were fantastic. The weather was sunny and bright with only one day of torrential rain (I love the rain).The staff were friendly and the service was very good.

The room service was excellent and we used it at lest 2 or 3 times a day. My wife and I needed a vacation from the difficulty of the last 2 years. We slept and slep and slept and only left the room on the third day.

Once we ventured out, the hotel was a very accommodating resort. The large restaurants were nice, but we loved the small eateries scattered throughout the grounds. There service was prompt, quick, and satisfying.

We didn't exactly know what we needed on this vacation, but this hotel gave us more of what we needed than not. On a scale of 1 to 10, Villa del Palmar gets a strong 9.

my wife would give this place a 4 but....the beach is not clean; the ocean is warm, nice and calm. if u want a real beach with real blue waves, go to hotel zone. room, resort, pools, restaurant & food is great but if u live on a budget, take extra money or go downtown and eat local 'great' food for less. Beware of outrageous timeshare prices.

Room Tip: we had 2 rm suite with kitchen. if u want to cook, this is great. if u use restaurants, just get 1...

The resort was beautiful, rooms were beautiful. Staff was great. Food was excellent. Drinks taste good. The resort is a far from everything else so be prepared to spend money on taxis or shuttles.
We bought food at the little store and cooked breakfast everyday to save a little $$.
Beware of the Time share presentation. We were told it would be 1 hour 90 minutes at the most. IT WAS THREE HOURS. They did not understand "NO"!
Very important to remember and visit the lobby bathrooms. You will be in for a sweet surprise!
