My husband and I were booking a last minute holiday and found a good deal at The Birdie Residence for a 10 night stay. After reading some of the reviews we were not sure what to expect, but I have to say they exceeded our expectations on everything.
No it is not a hotel, it is self catering accommdation, although breakfast is provided if you would like it, and so it is not a surprise that reception is not staffed 24 hours a day, it doesn't need to be. Having got lost on our way there we were running late, however at 6.40pm reception called us to see how we were doing, and arranged for our apartment to be ready for us when we arrived and said that we could come over to reception to officially check in the next morning.
The apartment was lovely, modern, spacious and clean, with an enormous corner bath, big enough for my husband who is 6 foot tall to lie down in. I had asked if it was possible to have a room with a view, and I think we had the best view of all the apartments. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare simple meals and it had a dishwasher. Reception sell kits with basic "household" stuff in case you have forgotten anything. We had brought our own linen, but we could have hired it if we needed to.
The team in reception were friendly and helpful at all times. Reception and the area by reception has free wifi, you just need a passcode which lasts for up to 24 hours usage over 7 days, so you don't need a new passcode everyday you just need to log off each time so its not using up your 24 hours usage.
Cleaning we were given the option of cleaning ourselves or paying for someone to clean for us at the end of the stay. Good idea once I thought about it, it means that for longer stays like ours you get a good per night room rate with just a one off charge for cleaning if you don't want to do it yourself.
We had a wonderful stay, lovely apartment, great location - quiet with views of the Alps, and cheeky cats and hungry sparrows to greet us every morning.
