Les Ballastieres
Reviewed 6 July 2013

Planned a last minute trip on my motorcycle to France and found the details of Les Ballastieres on internet.

Stayed for one night at this guest house and couldn't have felt more welcome. Has a nice little town within walking distance of guest house, where cafes are open until the evening.

Will visit again and will recommend to others.

Karen

Room Tip: Rooms within house are nice to stay in.

I can't recommend this place more for people to stay.
Sue and Paul the owners were very friendly, accomodating and made us feel very welcome, like they had known us forever.
Our room was very clean and beautifully presented,if we needed anything it wasn't to much trouble for them.
We were only staying one night to break up our very long trip but decided after a glass of wine and biscuits with them to ask if the could book a room on our return which luckily for us they had!
They are the best hosts I have ever come accross and would highly reccomend staying here and not some grotty F1!

Room Tip: Read reviews and get a true picture of where you are staying. This place is very peaceful and secur...

Les Ballastieres is a fantastic place to stay. We spent a week touring in France and stayed here on the first and last day of our trip on the way to and from the channel tunnel. Sue and Paul are the best hosts, nothing is too much trouble. We had a drink on arrival and some homemade bread pudding, delicious. Breakfast is fantastic with fresh croissants and pain au chocolate from the local bakery. We can't wait to stay here again.

Sue and paul have got it just right for bikers. Les Ballastieres is easy to find just outside St Pol Sur Ternoise. Lovely welcome and laid back attidude. You can help yourself to beer in the "Udder Room" (used to be a shippon). Short walk into St Pol lets you find the shops and La Poste restaurant, highly recommended. My mate Phil and I had a very enjoyable stay, so give it a whirl when next in La Belle France. Glyn Rogers

Nine of us just had a one night stay and had a brilliant time. This is our second time and would recommend to anyone. Sue and Paul are excellent hosts and put themselves out for you. In the evening we went to the town for supplies and Sue ordered pizza for us and we were left to enjoy ourselves in the large games/chill out area.
The rooms are basic but clean and if staying in the loft/dorm area I would advise a warm sleeping bag even in May.
Thanks again to Sue and Paul for another great time.

This was my first motorcycle trip abroad and although a short trip it was a great experience. After a long day heading down from Calais riding along B roads through the lovely French countryside, we arrived at the B&B early evening to be warmly greeted by Sue and Paul who gave us each a well earned bottle of beer as soon as we dismounted our bikes.

There was nine of us in total and as soon as we unpacked, Paul showed us around and we were able to park the bikes in the shed adjacent to the Udder Room.

We then went into town to buy some beer and nibbles from the local Lidl supermarket and returned to chill out in the Udder Room which had a kitchenette, pool table , sofas and chairs etc. Sue even ordered some pizzas for those of us who were extra hungry and Paul lit the log fire for us to warm the place up. There was no other guests staying at the time and we hade run of the place to ourselves.

Most of the guys were staying in the 'indoor camping' section, located above the Udder room, although it was a bit nippy in the evening , the shower and toilet facilities were excellent.

The rest of us stayed in single/twin bedrooms with tea and coffee making facilities and the bathroom was just across the way from our bedrooms. The next morning those of us that had paid for the B&B option were treated to an excellent choice of English or Continental style breakfast.

For some of the others in our group, this was their second or even third stay here and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
