My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying at this quintessential village pub on two other occasions. We have always taken the opportunity of staying in one of their superior rooms, there being four of these. They are the Mallard, Burghley, Rutland and Bytham. On this occasion we stayed in the Burghley. The rooms are virtually brand new and offer very comfortable accommodation with the added addition of a well appointed bathroom with a plentiful supply of towels, toiletries etc. The pub is a very friendly place to have a drink with many most interesting locals who are only too pleased to have a conversation which all makes your stay the more enjoyable. The bar staff, Elisabeth and Kelly, were most helpful and cheerful. We arrived after 2pm which was too late to obtain a sandwich, however the chef who was enjoying a quiet cup of coffee after a busy mornings work, very kindly offered to make us sandwiches of our choice there and then. On the occasion of our visit we did not stay for an evening meal, having been invited elsewhere, we did however note that a blackboard menu gave a wide range of choices all around the £9.00 to £10.00 price range. Our breakfast the following morning was excellent and freshly cooked by the owner personally. We have no hesitation of recommending the Willoughby Arms as being a good value venue for people visiting this part of Lincolnshire.

Room Tip: Try on of the superior rooms

We visited with friends during Easter weekend and found it an easy, spotlessly clean and relaxing venue. We stayed in the Courtyard rooms and found they had all we needed for a short 3 night break. The breakfast area was in need of refurbishment and this was acknowledged by our host who advised that this was planned and would happen shortly.

We enjoyed two evening meals that were fairly priced and to a good standard in the smart restaurant/bar and enjoyed decent wine and quality beers. The weather was fine and we were having a relaxing break from work so no pressure; we all enjoyed our time there

Room Tip: We were in the courtyard our room was light, it was also compact, modern and well fitted out.

We recently stayed at the Willoughby Arms for one night to break a long journey and were allocated the Burghley courtyard room which was spotlessly clean. The pub is in a quiet location with lovely views to the rear. All the staff we met were friendly and keen to please and the food we had in the evening was good. Sadly we didn't sleep well due to he heavy footsteps and creaking floorboards from upstairs which went on until midnight and started again around 6.15 am the next morning. We were also disturbed by raised voices from a nearby room. Far from feeling refreshed for our ongoing journey the next day, we left feeling very tired.

I stayed one night on a business trip in the Mallard courtyard room. Very clean but mind the step down to the bathroom. Well equipped room - small tv and really would benefit from adding a chair. Not much fun having to sit on the bed all evening. Hard floors are a great feature but can be noisy from those walking about upstairs.
Could imagine that the beer garden would be lovely in the summer - great views over local countryside.
Pub Food very good and a great breakfast. Bit pricey at £80 a night for what is a b&b but overall the owners are trying hard on the customer service front.
