Located in the heart of the quintessential Normandy town of Belleme, the Hotel du Suhard is an exquisitely decorated BnB complete with a picturesque garden and extremely comfortable bedrooms. From the word go, the hotel's owners, Joel and Josiane, make you feel at home, taking care of dinner reservations in excellent local restaurants and offering excellent Sancerres and Pouilly Fume wines (at an extremely reasonable price) from Joel's well stocked cellar to sip in the garden. Josiane's breakfast spread is something to behold and Joel & Josiane could not do enough to make sure we had everything we needed, recommending local sites and activities in the Perche region. The BnB is bursting with character (and history) but with all modern creature comforts (WiFi, rain showers etc). We are already planning a return. Two days was far too short!

We spent 2 nights here and it was amazing. The house is stunning, calm and the decoration is gorgeous. Josiane and Joel were great hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was generous and wonderfully served. They were really helpful booking restaurants for us and sending us off to very nice spots in the area. We had a lovely time and are going back again very soon.

Room Tip: Mme de Suhard room is perfect for a family trip

We couldn't have chosen a better hotel to arrive at, following an 8 hour drive from south of Toulouse. The welcome was very warm, the house inspirational in its beautiful decor, the garden called to you to sit and relax in the various tucked away corners, our bedroom was jaw dropping and beakfast the next morning was divine.
We stayed in the Madame Suhard suite, which was huge and very stylishly decorated. There was everything you could possibly need and more - dressing gowns, hair straighteners, eye masks, endless books, a tv and dvds available to rent and so much more. The bed was hugely comfortable and we were treated to some home cooked treats and nuts, along with an aperitif before we went out for dinner.
We had our breakfast the next morning in the garden, complete with freshly-picked figs from the tree. It was our final breakfast in France, after a three week trip, and it was absolutely the best of our holiday, with a range of delicious breads, fruit (much of it home-grown), homemade jams to die for, homemade apple juice, cereal, pastries, cheese and lots of great coffee. To say we didn't want to leave breakfast or the hotel would be an understatement.
What an incredible find - it's worth a detour from your route to visit this place and it's definitely worth more than a one night stay. Just be careful - you'll want to redecorate once you get home!

From the minute I arrived at H'otel Suhard and was met by the wonderful Josiane at the entrance I knew we had discovered a real gem. The Hotel is absolutely gorgeous, wonderfully designed with incredible taste...I loved being surrounded not only by such history, but also so many beautiful things...art, antiques, wonderful linens, fabulous furniture. If you like reading 'World of Interiors' you'll love it here!
We spent two nights in one of the suites, Mathilde Chazelles, it was beautiful, Josiane & Joel very kindly offered an extra bed so that our 2 daughters (5&9) shared one room and we had the adjoining double with en-suite. Perfect for a family stay. The breakfasts were the best we've had at any hotel, a huge choice with fantastic pastries, cereals, homemade jams, local cheese, fruit...it went on and on and we loved it!
Belleheme is a very pretty town too and the area is great to explore, Josiane pointed us in the direction of some lovely little towns.
I would highly recommend staying here if you have the chance, it's a really special place!
Merci Josiane et Joel, we would LOVE to return.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed!
Josiane and Joel made every effort to make us feel welcome and at home in this lovely hotel in the centre of Belleme. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and it is obvious that a lot of care has been taken in the choice of furnishing even down to the smallest detail. It is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to experience these French treasures!
Breakfast is a mixture of homemade jams, fruits from the garden and local bread and cheese as well as an endless supply of coffee which sets you up for a good day of sightseeing. Guests have access to the garden also, which is just as pretty as the house as well as the Salon with it's extensive collection of books.

Joel and Josiane gave us recommendations for visiting gardens and also made booking for restaurants in Belleme. I would advise making a reservation for restaurants in advance though, as the first night we arrived, many places were booked and our choice (being vegetarian) was limited.

We stopped at Belleme as it was between Calais and the Loire Valley, but we found many things to see and do around the town itself which is a very quiet and peaceful place.

We will definitely stay at Hotel Suhard again!

We have just returned from a short trip to France, during which we spent three nights at the Hotel de Suhard. This was a complete pleasure, such a charming place, beautifully restored by Joel & Josiane who clearly and deservedly are very proud of this delightful Guest House. Perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble and everything provided with a smile. Our room (Madame de Suhard) complete with elegant salon, was very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. The breakfasts were delicious and most attractively presented and the restaurants which they recommended for evening meals were very good. Any information requested was promptly and fully provided. All in all a very pleasant experience which we should be happy to repeat!

We chose the Hotel de Suhard because it was almost exactly halfway from Calais to Bordeaux and because it seemed to offer exactly the sort of quiet and comfortable accommodation we were looking for. We were not disappointed. Our hosts gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and gave us a quick tour of their beautiful house and garden. The room was large, spotlessly clean and very tranquil. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, with everything you could want from a continental breakfast. Will definitely stay again.
