Lovely old Inn, loads of history and character. A quieter place on this occassion. Accommodation like a 'travelodge' as most rooms are in a 70's look extention which looked lovely from outside, emulating a coach house, autumn leaves, creepers etc. Room was clean, tastefully decorated and well equiped. Breakfast in the old dining room was lovely. Service was really good, food was fine.

I would stay there again definately.

This is an ancient Inn with heaps of character and the staff are lovely. Visiting on business I had to change rooms as i couldn't get broadband in the room I was first allocated despite explaining that broadband was essential when booking. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but the furnishings are tiered and the cheap plastic bathroom fittings need to be changed, in the second room I was in, where the plastic shelf in the bathroom had a nasty cigarette burn years after the smoking ban.
The food was fine, however, the first night I had the Sirloin Steak from the specials menu. I was amazed to see sirloin steak at £7.95 when I pay close to £10 for a raw steak at the butchers! Turns out it was very thin. I'd rather pay double for a decent sized steak. The next night however I had bangers and mash and it was lovely. The food is basic pub grub with absolutely no fancy trimmings, very tasty, filling and perhaps trying to keep the price down too much. I'd rather pay more for something a bit more adventurous or a bigger steak.
Despite being close to a busy road I slept like a baby and enjoyed the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff and locals. Really I should have given this 3 stars but the staff, locals and beauty of the building made up for the basic level of the accomodation. I hope they renovate soon as I will be back, although not on business unless the hit & miss broadband signal is sorted out. It is a perfect base to explore the south west and soak up some real history and West Country charm.

Room Tip: Be very specific about your requirements. If you need broadband, rooms 2 etc are better although I f...

Stayed in June and whilst the pub is very nice (13th century I believe) the room was very basic and belonging to a bygone decade (a few back). The bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy.
Breakfast was O.K. As we were sometimes only booking somewhere to stay the same day we occasionally had to take whatever was available nearby.

I stayed here for three nights along with my two daughters, as a base for a short holiday in the area. The staff were friendly, responsive and efficient. The rooms are clean and quiet - they are at the rear well away from the main road. Wi Fi is easily adequate for most internet browsing, checking emails etc. but probably not if you intend to download large files (e.g. films). The hotel fixtures have seen much better days and need to be replaced, but they are as clean and well-maintained as possible. In my opinion this upgrading would be worth the investment as it is my only criticism of this well-run hotel and I would have considered rating it excellent. If you want clinical contemporary surroundings and are prepared for all the extras they stick onto the advertised rate, try the chain hotel in the centre of Gloucester. If you want easy parking, a warm atmosphere and personal service Little Thatch will probably suit your needs better.

We booked this hotel for one night on our way down to Cornwall. It was extremely reasonable and was fine for one night. However, I would not like to stay longer than one night as the rooms were a little small and dated. On the plus side it did have free wifi and also the pub itself was interesting. Service in the hotel and pub was poor and we had to wait an hour for the meal to be served in the evening.

Just a short note to say that the little thatch was not what we expected, and was a great let down
the place is in need of a refurbishment, as a vert tired apperance,

Bathroom was terrible with no bath , and a shower thats spits water at you, room was cold no heating, hand towels to dry yourself with. bed was made of old cart springs bad back and neckache

food was overdone and hard, breakfast was not very good either poor selection.

only thing i can say is staff where very helpful

was planning to stay longer in hotel as was touring, but after one night would not recommend this to anyone, worst than a travel lodge. and at £55 per night not valve for money

Room Tip: Dont stay as you will be disappointed :(

We stayed for one night on our way south. We arrived later and went to the bar to check in. Very nice man checked us in and the bar had character.

The room was good - it was clean and spacious enough for us and everything worked well.

Breakfast was good. The service wasn't awesome but it was ok.
