“a perfect experience”
Reviewed 21 November 2012

I recently stayed at the Burleigh Court hotel for 4 nights, and can honestly say that there was nothing really to complain about. Initially the long walk up the stairs took our breath away, but please believe me, it was nothing to complain about, because the room was delightful, the breakfast each morning was scrumptious and the dinner impeccable. Prices were reasonable for the quality of service and without doubt we shall return very soon for another dose of luxury treatment. Thank you kindly Burleigh Court Hotel.

Room Tip: pay a little extra and enjoy the valley views

My son in law was 50 and so it called for a celebration. He chose Cheltenham races and the Burleigh which he has been to many times and so have I over the last ten years. It has got better and better and this year I coudn't fault it. If you have ever been to Combe House in Gittisham Devon you would think that it is the same management. No nasty notices telling you to wipe your feet or not use too much hot water. You are a guest in a country house and the staff are friendly retainers intent on giving service. No one asks for your room number; no one makes you sign a bill. it is a delicious experience from beginning to end.

I think it is the staff that make it - they have that right amount of friendliness and I puzzle as to why all have the right attitude as there unfortunately is no sign of an owner around and that I would love to see. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The building looks early Georgian and has been sensitively restored and decent art adorn the walls. Not prints but real paintings by real artists - they are just one of the delights.

I have never been to such a polished and clean hotel. I saw the young cleaner in the morning and told her so. Her reply was "thats funny someone else told me that yesterday"!

The food is top notch and the chef certainly knows what he is doing. The service of complicated and interesting dishes was fast - almost impossibly so. A lovely wine list with a reasonably priced house champagne and you ask for a gin and tonic and get a serious drink with a choice of gin types. The Fleurie was presented well and served to perfection.

All in all a lovely experience and one which I urge you to indulge in.

When we got engaged we wanted to have our wedding in the Cotswolds. We looked at all the usual hotels, but they were all too big and impersonal. Eventually we found the Burleigh Court on google. The website wasn't great, but we could see beyond that and we looked at trip advisor reviews, which were excellent. We phoned to make an appointment for the following weekend. From the moment we turned up we knew it was exactly what we were looking for. The manager showed us around, and any other members of staff we met were very polite. We booked it there and then. We were told straight away that Christine, the manager, wouldn't be there on our wedding day, but the deputy manager, Simon, would be looking after us. He did an excellent job. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked the whole hotel so we had to allocate rooms for our guests. Simon suggested we came on a Sunday afternoon when the hotel was quiet. He showed us every room that wasn't occupied, and answered any questions we had. On the day itself everything was perfect. We had realised that the guests might want some lunch before our evening ceremony, it was not a problem, before we knew it trays of assorted sandwiches, tea and coffee arrived. The ceremony was held in the dining room, and it looked beautiful. After the ceremony we had drinks in the hall and outside with various canapés. Just before dinner was due to be served, we asked if they minded if we had the speeches before, instead of after the meal. Again, it was not a problem, or if it was, they certainly didn't let it show. Our meal was excellent, really excellent. We went into the bar and had coffee, port and cheese. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The following morning we all came down to a wonderful breakfast, not your normal buffet style, but waiter/waitress service. As one of our guests said, the staff just seemed to glide around, you hardly knew they were there. All in all, we cannot recommend the Burleigh Court enough, it was excellent value, the staff were polite, helpful and friendly, the food was wonderful and it would be very difficult to find a country house hotel with such magnificent views. A recent newspaper review said that it needs updating, well if you want to stay in a hotel that looks just like any other corporate hotel, then go ahead, but its just perfect the way it is.

This is a hidden gem. It is not in a town and is very hard to find because the sign coming up the hill is not visible. It is on extensive property, beautifully landscaped and well kept gardens and has spectacular views. The view from our room (rm 5) was fabulous. The room was not huge, but was comfortable using the electric heater (which we found in the closet) in the evening and early AM. The food was excellent, and the staff was very helpful. Our room was in the corner, so we had views in 2 directions. Complementary sherry in decanter in room, alolng with shortbread
(and the usual tea-making stuff). What a find!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the few rooms with a view.

We happened across this place after a long search for b&b's around Stroud. It is a beautiful Georgian mansion with village views. A very welcoming, friendly and peaceful place to stay, with one of the best dinners I've had in my entire life! Sad to leave, and definitely hope to return one day. There is also a lovely lounge area, overlooking the valley, where you can have per or post dinner drinks. The staff were exceptional!

Room Tip: We had room number 3 and it was spacious, clean, comfortable and with full facilities.

We have just spent a long weekend at The Burleigh Court to celebrate our daughter's 30th Birthday. We booked a superior room and they upgraded her to a superior also. Staff are friendly and provide an excellent service. Food is of a very high standard. Have afternoon tea on the terrace looking at the beautiful sights across the valley. Fully deserves a five star rating. Highly recommended.

I have stayed at this hotel on a number of single night stays and the service is super, very friendly & helpful the even remembered I prefer a duvet. Rooms are slightly dated , but very clean and comfy. The food is superb at dinner - I have had some outstanding meals. It's a pity they still charge extra for wifi . I will be back again though as its a very relaxing place.
