A lovely country house hotel, beautifully furnished and located, with a staff team that know how to do things right. Excellent dinner, good breakfast. Really relaxing. Great location for exploring the Cotswolds.

Took him indoors for the weekend for his birthday. Booked it based solely on the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor so thought I'd better do my bit and add my own. Booked the dinner, bed and breakfast option. Glad I did, the food was beautiful. The menu is not vast but everything we had was delicious. They even did my partner an impromptu selection of petit fours with happy birthday iced around the plate. Made his day! When booking was told by the hotel that there would be a wedding reception on the Saturday night (a dinner party) and that we would eat in the small dining room for that evening. Was just as nice as the main dining room, in fact more cosy as there were few other diners. On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to a suite in the coach house, very nice thank you. At risk of repeating others comments, I have to say it felt more like a weekend in a (rich) friends country house, not at all hotel like. Beautifully peaceful, excellent staff, always there but so unobtrusive, lovely food and excellent accommodation. Two extremely small negatives only. Definitely wouldn't like to find the place in the dark, although the written directions they sent me were spot on and spoke of "keeping the faith". If you did that you were fine. The other small negative was that on the morning after the wedding reception the breakfast room was very full of the wedding party who seemed to spend a lot of time shouting between tables. Might have been nice to accommodate the rest of us in the small dining room again, but to be fair this is being really picky. Would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone wishing for a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the valley.

Tricky to find - wouldn't like to have been coming there for the first time at night. And wouldn't like to go there at all on a frosty day, as the windy road is very steep.

But when you get there, the views are marvellous. In summer there is a good choice of outdoor terraces, and a small pool. You feel slightly frustrated that the very best view from the very best terrace is spoilt by a large tree right in the middle, so you cannot see across the valley unless you are sitting in just one spot - couldn't they trim it? Or even chop it down - there's no shortage of other trees around.

On arrival, it isn't clear how you actually get into the hotel, as from the carpark there are no signs to Reception.

Indoors, pleasant sitting rooms, but weird cloakroom - just half a dozen pegs in what seems to be a Rubbish Tip Room. Not good PR for guests to see that.

Small group came for lunch. Good choice in bar menu, so decided not to go for the restaurant at £22, I think, for 2 courses. But the bar food - well cooked and well presented - was pricey. £14 for sausage and mash.

We were the sole customers that day - a bright sunny mid-week in autumn - so their overheads must have been enormous. But even so!

We were delighted to discover Burleigh Court and echo the praise sung by other reviewers. We arrived after a traumatic week when my husband was rushed to hospital on Monday and let out just in time for us to get there for dinner on the Friday (his birthday). It gave us just what we needed: a restful atmosphere, lovely grounds, calming décor, excellent food and attentive, but not overwhelming, service.
Room 23 has the advantage of being on the ground floor, though a short stroll from the main building. But there is a step down from the sleeping area which worked with a walking trolley, but would have been difficult for most wheelchairs. The room is very comfortable and has an excellent and large bathroom.

Not like an hotel, more like being a guest in a country manor house. Lovely views in a peaceful setting. Very restful. Staff attentive but not at all intrusive. Food good, menu did not change but chef will cook something different if you ask. A pretty area with lovely valleys and not so touristy. Our fifth stay.

We must say what a gem of a place for a lovely lunch in the Stroud Valley ; we enjoyed the hospitality of the weicome we received on arrival, very professional and attentive. The service was slick , the lunch and the wine excellent.Special mention of Simon (Deputy General Manager) who looked after us and nothing was too much trouble for him.We will be returning again soon and recommending to all our friends. Just one disappointment, we never witnessed the ghost!!!!!!!!

I was looking for a nice country hotel as a birthday treat for my girlfriend - easier said than done, as most hotels had more than a few negative reviews...until I found the Burleigh Court where even the negative reviews seemed OK! We stayed in a suite, which was beautifully appointed, clean and spacious - it was more like saying in someone's home rather than in a hotel (in the nicest possible way). The views were superb, and the hotel bar and restaurant were excellent. A wonderfully relaxing experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends or to visit again myself. The only negative I can think of is that the road access in one direction is single-track, and in the other direction you can encounter parked cars that block your way unless you want to mount a high kerb...! (Go for the single-track option).
