My wife and I stayed here for a short break and were absolutely delighted. We had to change our dates twice, which their lady manager made very easy. We were greeted by a very pleasant and professional young man and made extremely welcome. Our room had a superb view of the surrounding hills, the staff were all delightful, the food was good; we could not fault it. They should run training courses for other hotels. We look forward to returning.

George R. Shropshire.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the hills.

Sarah and I wanted to meet up for romantic break. Driving through Thrupp looked as it sounds, a bit like a nasty but temporary medical condition, so my hopes weren't high. However, round a couple of sharp bends and there it was, Miss Marples country residence. Miss Scarlet in the library with a very nice amuse Bouche. We were in Room 31, fabulous views of the Cotswolds that just draw your gaze and spirit outwards. Old English rooms, but no mustiness, fresh and inviting; just a nice carafe of medium dry sherry....oh bliss. Dinner was surprisingly good, fresh seasons asparagus wit a nice hollandaise, unctuous soft poached egg and spicy rocket. The fillet of sea bass had a lovely crisp skin, buttery spinach and fresh veggies. This place is a treasure, it would be jammed if anyone really knew about it. For a romantic escape, room 31, 5 stars. Happy days

Room Tip: Room 31 is worth the extra.

The restaurant is 5 stars, both for the price and for the food quality/sense of hygiene

Hotel service (personnel) is 5 stars. Obviously it depends on who serves you, but we had a young guy who was all the time perfectly polite and professional.

The rooms rate is 3 stars in my opinion. You can easily ear the steps of the people above you. That woke me up every morning before the alarm.
When we arrived the heating was not on, and we had to wait for the room to warm up, before enjoying our staying.
2 bottles of water are complementary. However, a bottle of spirit is available on a table but it is not clear if that is free or not. There is not fridge in the rooms.
Hygiene in the room could be better, the dust was not removed from some areas in the room.

Overall 4 stars for the holiday experience

Really stunning hotel and our room was an annexe all of it's own - room (beautiful suite) 31 is well worth paying the extra. Views from room 31 are some of the best views of the Cotswolds I have ever seen. Peaceful, quiet, romantic location. Breakfast was easily the best breakfast I have ever eaten in any hotel, gorgeous, quality food, presented very well in a beautiful, clean room, by helpful, attentive staff. Couple of small points to work on - when I ran a bath, there was clearly debris in the bath, as bits of dirt were floating on top of the water. I opted for a shower instead. I also felt that the staff were a little pretentious - "views, oh, I don't see them anymore...." and other such comments. But over all, well worth it and a very wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: Room 31 is a suite of it's own, quiet, peaceful, wonderful views.

This over-used expression is spot on for this hotel. There is no reception desk: just a hand bell in the very spacious entrance hall with which to summon the staff. Even the original bell system used when the building was a grand private residence is largely intact. Staying at this hotel really is a bit like being a "paying guest" in a grand old English Mansion. The staff go out of their way to facilitate this throughout.

The hotel is not easy to find. It is located off Brimscombe Hill about half-way down between Cirencester Road running along the top of Minchinhampton Common and the A419 (London Road) running along the valley below between Stroud and Cirencester. It is signposted, but one needs to look carefully.

Once there, the views over the valley are fabulous. The rooms are fairly spacious and well equipped, especially in the Coach House adjourning the main building. There is a very nice bar, often with a roaring real fire adding to the atmosphere.

There is a good selection of food for the breakfast (cooked to order) and high quality food served in the restaurant.

Despite being old fashioned in all the best senses, the hotel is equipped with Wifi, although in this rural location it is quite slow.

We used Burleigh Court Hotel for our wedding. The staff were excellent, very friendly, professional and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure that everyone had an amazing time. They weren't intrusive but were always on hand to provide whatever was needed from helping to pin on buttonholes to making the children jam sandwiches. The venue itself is full of character and the gardens/views made for excellent photos. A special mention should also go to the kitchen who produced amazing food - not just for the wedding but on our previous visits to the venue. At the end of the weekend no one wanted to go home!

A three day mid week break with friends in winter meant this hotel needed to be warm, comfortable and provide a base for exploration.
It achieved all this and then surpassed itself with faultless cooking and excellent service.
The dining room deserves to be placed on a high priority list for anyone interested in great food, from the canapes before to the petit fours to finish, all our meals were superb.
I loved our stay and will certainly return.
