My wife and I, together with two friends, have just returned from 3 nights at the Burleigh Court Hotel. Whilst perhaps a little on the expensive side, this was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, and we would recommend it to anybody looking for a quiet location in the west Cotswolds. We were greeted on our arrival by two very pleasant young men who showed us to our rooms and also carried our cases from the car. We were on the second floor and there is no lift, so this gesture was very welcome.
We had a huge double aspect bedroom, with an equally huge bed, which, like the rest of the hotel was tastefully decorated to the highest standard. Everything looked like new with no dirty marks or stains anywhere, the level of cleanliness was excellent. There was a flat screen television and a DVD player in the room (DVDs were available in the bar) together with a decanter of sherry and tea making facilities. The bathroom was a little on the small side but again, was spotlessly clean with fresh fluffy white towels every day. Our room had a bath (my wife does like a bath) so the shower was over the bath. This was a little feeble since I am used to a power shower but this was really not a significant problem.
Downstairs there was a large bar lounge area and a separate quiet lounge area, again very tastefully decorated. The evening meal was very imaginative and prepared to the highest standard. We had the same menu for each of the 3 nights which comprised about six starters and similar number of main courses. All four of our meals on each evening were well prepared and presented and it was not the same chef every time. There was a fairly large wine list which started at a reasonable price. At breakfast there was selection of cereals, fruit etc and a good menu of cooked breakfasts which were, as expected after the evening meal the day before, prepared extremely well.
Outside of the hotel were beautifully kept gardens, especially nice to stroll around after indulging yourself at dinner. We had varied weather but did manage two late afternoons sitting on the terrace with a bottle of wine and admiring the outstanding views across the valley.
The staff all seem very proud of this hotel and this comes over in their friendly approach where nothing is too much trouble for them. We had no problems there whatsoever and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. We hope you have a similar experience.

This part of the Cotswolds is not as upmarket and picturesque as the other areas we visited (Bibury, Burford etc.). The hotel is thankfully well separated from the main village/town on its own. We picked it due to its proximity to the M5 the next day. We were not too sure about the hotel as we couldn't stay in the main building (we had a dog). We don't like refurbished annexes as they tend to be poor imitations. We needn't have worried. The coach house accommodation used for pets is separate around the back of the hotel (practically next door to the main building), but is excellent. No duvets were used which means a great nights sleep! Our room and the public rooms were spotless and tastefully decorated in the traditional English country house style. I especially loved the panelled bar area. The outside areas were spacious and well tended. Compliments to the chef as the breakfast and dinner were superb! The excellent English waiters were also in keeping with the hotel ambiance. The service at all times was faultless! We consider this to be by far the best 5 star hotel we have stayed in for a number of years (we stayed in four during this trip to the Cotswolds). It was deservedly busy for a Thursday which I always take as being a good sign (a mixture of very respectable locals attending a private function and nice continental guests). We look forward to returning!

We were revisiting this area( Stroud Valleys) - having lived there six years ago, and after having read all of the positive reviews of Burleigh Court, were really looking forward to our stay.
Our experience at the hotel was perfect, memorable and to be highly cvommended - especially as a base in this wonderful, magical and characterful area of the southern Cotswolds, usually over-looked in favour of Bibury, Stow & Bourton..
To begin with, the position of the hotel, overlooking the Golden Valley is just sublime - perhaps one of the best views in England.
The gardens are beautiful; with terraces, a plunge pool and many delightful seating areas.
The house is elegant, comfortable and charming. The staff are impeccable; committed and yet unobtrusive - very genuine!
There is a delightful bar/lounge room, plus another seating area - lots of tourist guides, books, a D.V.D library and newspapers available.
The evening meal was wonderful - beautifully presented. We are vegetarian, and the effort was made to provide us witha separate printed menu of our own; such a special treat, given the inflexibility of so many, so-called, chefs in other restaurants, who seem either unwilling or incapable of any variations to the menu at all. Our food was tasty and imaginative; a really good and reasonably priced wine menu.
Service in the restaurant was perfect; delightful - a lovely young man, and a very pleasing young woman, who made us feel welcome and very much valued.
Breakfast was just as good - an excellent menu and the same relaxed yet highly professional service. White tablecloths. Elegant rooms.
Our bedroom was charming, and equipped with a hairdryer and a T.V. A lovely touch is the provision of a decanter of sherry and bottled water - as well as tea and coffee-making facilities. An iron and ironing board were provided on request, and we were able to order a newspaper for the morning - which was brought to our table along with our breakfast( not left on the floor like in the larger chains).
Checking-out was relaxed yet very efficient.
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
The only sliight negative was the 'shower' - over the bath and quite primitive - in fact we couldn't get it to work; the first bath I've had in years ensued - lying down to rinse my hair!
However, this did not detract from our experience - in fact my daughter even found it charming - so enamoured were we with this wonderful, intimate, elegant hotel!
The hotel was fully-booked - 18 rooms, including a guest cottage. Seemingly, and understandably popular with foreign visitors as well as British ones.

We used Trip Advisor to confirm our choice of this hotel for a stress-free weekend. It is tucked away down a quiet lane, set in immaculate grounds and looks out ( for an urban dweller) over a breathtaking view. We had a superior room which was spacious, clean and comfortable with all the extras you would expect. The decanter of sherry was a nice touch. A real attraction for my wife was the outdoor pool and after a long day walking it was invaluable. Service in the bar and restaurant was immaculate without being over-formal and that tone permeates throughout the hotel. The food was superb and the wine list matched it in quality. Criticism was restricted to the beer in the bar - the hotel is surrounded by various local breweries and a few bottles of such would have been far preferable to Tetleys fizz. Otherwise, just a perfect w/e and a place to which we will return.

We have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels and were at time baffled as to why this hotel has only been awarded 3 stars.
The views of the Golden Valley are just stunning the public rooms decorated extremely tastefully and in keeping with the style of the house. Our own room was in the coach house/courtyard area and again of a good standard excepting the bed just being a double and the room not particually spacious but very pretty all the same.
The shower however was not above a 3 star standard; it was weak in pressure and with a shared water supply kept running hot then cold if another resident was using at the same time!.
The breakfast swere delicious; freshly cooked to order.
Out of the three evenings we stayed we ate twice in the formal restaurant and once from the bar menu.
The bar menu offered a good selection and was very tasty; it was lovely to be able to eat this outside soaking up the beautiful valley views.
The formal restaurant meals were however a dissappointment on both nights despite the mouth watering presentation. First dissappointment is that the menu did not change daily.
The soup was scalding which spoilt the flavour, The sea bream with roasted vegetables didn't taste as fresh as I would like and was dressed with an overpowering tapinade. I have had similar versions of this dish and this did not compare favourably at all. On the second evening my chicken whilst cooked to make it safe to eat was not tender and the jus was basically a very weak stock that made for an overall bland main course. The pannacotta was slightly heavy and lacked any sweetness.
Don't let the evening meal quality deter you from visting this hotel though as the house, location and views make it a gem to stay at within the Cotswolds.
In summary I would re visit and recommend choosing to eat from the bar menu rather than the formal restaurant.

We've just returned from a 2-night stay at the Burleigh Court Hotel and we had a great time. The hotel has great views, nice staff and excellent food.

We stayed in the Coach House which is a smaller building next to the main house. We had the embarassment of turning up for breakfast at 9.50 on the Saturday, thinking breakfast was from 8-10 whereas actually we found out later that it was from 7.30-9.30 and that we were reading the times for Sunday! When we apologised later that evening the waiter/barman laughed off our mistake.

All in all we had a really pleasant and relaxing stay and the staff were very welcoming as most of the reviews on here state. Would thoroughly recommend.

What a beautiful hotel!

We stayed for 2 nights with our teenage son.

The views are spectacular, the cats are great, the gardens are gorgeous, and the staff is helpful. Our room was large, with a pullout couch and nice bathroom. Our only complaint was with the sofa bed for our son. As with most of these the support bar hits you in the back. The second night we put the mattress from the sofa bed on the floor.

The bar/lounge is like a large study with leather chairs and sofa's, an excellent place for an evening meal. The breakfast (included in the price) was very good, with fresh juices and jams, and several 'cold' and 'cooked' options.

We will be sure to stay here again on our next trip the U.K.
