We found this a friendly and comfortable hotel in a scenic location by Lake Skadar with mountains in the background. Rooms were clean, with masses of hot water. Locally-produced food, especially when prepared with fresh fish from the lake, and good local wines ( this is a wine-producing area) and friendly service made this a pleasant and relaxing environment. Free wi-fi is available in reception and a small supermarket and ATM almost on-site add to the convenience.

We enjoyed our day at Skadar lake with great hosts at Hotel Pelikan. They recommended a boat ride which we enjoyed very much and the lunch after was great served in a traditional style. Very good value for money and we definitely will come back.

Room Tip: A boat ride on a lake is definitely worth it and should not be missed.

We were here over the weekend in the early summer (June) and it was a great experience - the owners helped us to a very well guided visit to the National Park, with a bird expert - not cheap but worth every minute. We spotted the real Dalmatian pelikan, but also the nature around (green, lush) is just beautiful! When we came back to the hotel, the father gave us a present postcard with the pelikan stamp on it - so nice. After the trip we enjoyed their home cooking - the fresh carp soup is the local "bouillabaisse". This hotel is small, the rooms are not big either (the bed was), but we spent all days outside, so it was OK. Nearby you can also see a historical memorial from the partisan times, and an ancient castle is 15 minutes walk away (getting renovated, can be visited). And the hotel is full of interesting b/w pictures and personal things from the past.

Room Tip: In the new building opposite to the Hotel Pelikan, recommend the rooms upstairs with windows to the...

I don't like to write bad reviews but this hotel was the worst place we ever stayed in.
The manager (son) greeted us so friendly and polite with great marketing skills.
It was all a big lie! The room you could not move in. Just enough space for the 2 suitcases and you had to climb on the bed to pass one and other. The bathroom was disgusting and dirty.
The shower over flowed and when they came to fix it they pulled out clumps of hair. It was nauseating! The sink and toilet moved out of place...just unreal! The promised satelite tv did not work, and the telvision set was 10 inches! The promised wi fi did not work in the rooms only in
the lobby.
The food was awful and the dining room full of flies.
All in all we could not wait to get out of there quick enough and were really angry at the owner for his lies ! This hotel was horrible!!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

We don't intended to stop Virpazar ,intended to drive till Petrovac, but since heavy rainfall under way we spent much time and were tired, and then decided stay in Virpazar. I may just to prove all what were written on other reviews about manager and his aggressive way to sell hotel and boat tour. Room was very small and overpriced, as well as boat tour.

We haven't actually stayed in Hotel Pelikan, but we were tricked into taking boat trip organized by them. After we entered the restaurant to ask about the options we were told the boat leaves in 15mins and if we want a place we need to pay 10Euro per person per HOUR - so we paid 40Euros for 2 of us and 2h trip. We saw nothing interesting, only coast and one island with a ruined castle on it. We thought that by paying the extra money we'll get some information or will be shown unique areas - didn't happen.

After lunch (in another place) we decided not to leave it like this, since we felt really cheated. We wanted to speak to the Manager, but he pointed towards the receptionist and made her talk to us. She explained that since Hotel Pelikan was the first to offer trips on the lake they feel they can charge higher price. The Manager only came once, with a cigarette in his mouth, pointed at the official price list which we were shown before and said we agreed to it and have no right to complain. He was rather aggressive and unpleasant.

Really, don't go there - there are other boats to be hired for half of the price!

Hotel Pelikan is located in the centre of Virpazar, at the shore of the Lake of Skadar National Park. Very beautifull! The hotel is a small family owned hotel, we had a room with a view on the lake, basic but really ok. The owners are very friendly and helpfully. Also the people at the reception are really nice, they speak perfect english and they give a lot of usefull information about the area. Also the son can tell you everything you wanted to know. He orgenisez also a boattrip on the fantastic lake. The father gives you free spices and during the breakfast he brought fresh berries. Virpazar is really recommended to visit, and this hotel is perfect to stay!

Room Tip: room with a view on the lake
