Was thinking of visiting the Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary and so chose this farmhouse.
The reviews were good..the place decent enough and the surrounding breath-taking. The best part it is not commercialized. Since, there were 4 of us travelling we chose the log cottage. The place is very well connected to the main road. The owner had sent us the directions for the place ,but still we had to use our google maps to locate. There is complete privacy ,since the place can accommodate few guests. It is surrounded by coffee plantation and they have an open farming field on one side.

Food is good, authentic kerala cuisine. The room's are comfortable and clean. The service is good. They also have a machan where you can sit around and watch the chittals and langoors in the forest right in front of it. Also, a beautiful sit out area where you can find pictures of the different wild animals present in the area. They also arrange night safari's and you can find animals on the road's itself.

Overall a beautiful experience.

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for your kind words about our farm, we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. As you rightly pointed out, our USP is the location - you can see animals from your room itself and if I may claim, the service. We try our best to ensure that you the guests are happy. Thanking you once again, hoping to host you again. Regards Anil, 09742565333.

The location of jungle retreat and its famed meadows is just unbelievable. Our balcony opened into the meadows and we always have wild animals grazing. If you want to see elephants in their natural habitat, then head to jungle retreat wayanad. Spent the evenings in the watch tower enjoying the nature. Beautiful. The food was easily the best we had in Kerala. The service was magical, we could see that the smile was genuine. The trek with Anil was special, his knowledge and ability to predict what the animal is about to do was incredible to watch. The other thing we loved was tracking the Tiger, it was amazing, we came close to a Tiger, heard the roar from a distance.
We will certainly go back. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Heavenly location in midst of the jungle and with an amazing view of Brahmagiri mountains. Been there 2 times and loved our both visits. I don't know where Anil finds such hospitable crew :) Rajin and Jinesh took care of us real warm and delivered everything they promised. The food on our recent visit was amazingly great, hats off to chef! The candle light dinner they arranged for us will be a life time memorable one. Thanks Jungle Retreat for being such warm hosts and caretakers. Still my favorite resort :)

Room Tip: Wooden cottage has beautiful view

In one word WOW. We were told by the most pleasing and prompt Anil that there was some renovation work during the enquiry call, so we were a bit unsure if we wanted to stay in Jungle Retreat Wayanad. We are so glad we chose to. What makes this place tick is the wildlife, we sighted the Tiger at 1 pm in the afternoon from our verandah. What more can one ever ask for? The safari drive arranged by the retreat team is wonderful, we "just" saw the Leopard! The other aspect worth mentioning is the service. The caretaker didn't speak great english, but his enthusiasm to share his knowledge and to ensure our stay was great was just... great! He'd come to our cottage, tell us about the sound that we were listening to, be it a Leopard's grunt or an Elephants trumpet - he wanted us to know and experience it all, and we never felt that he was invading our private time. The food was lovely, it was in itself a great experience. Thanks a ton to Anil for having us in your private farm, you seem to attract wonderful guests - we loved interacting with your other guests who were like-minded wildlife lovers, it made the stay extra special!

My husband and I just returned back from our visit to the misty Wayanad. We stayed in Jungle retreat wayanad and we just loved the experience. The most amazing part was sitting in the balcony enjoying the never ending supply of tea while watching the rain drench the deer and elephants in the meadow ahead. Sublime experience. In the rain, it looked as though the animals had taken a break from everything and they were just enjoying the rain, standing and doing nothing. We weren't sure if we'd be able to see animals due to the rainy season. It rained for 3 hours every day when we were there, with bright spells of sunlight in between. We just enjoyed the entire experience. We have never hogged so much on food, but the taste of the food and the location made us hungry for more! We are certain to come back and enjoy the experience again. Anil, thanks for your hospitality we loved everything about your resort.

After reading so many good things about this resort, we, a group of 12 friends from school decided to celebrate our get together in Jungle Retreat Wayanad. It was such a wonderful experience. We were so well looked after that it was hard to leave. The food was just excellent! The wildlife sightings were amazing even though we didn't go for any safaris. Every noon and evening we saw elephants inside the resort. The rooms were super clean, and we also experienced Kuruva island and Irupu waterfalls as both were just 20 minutes drive from the resort. We couldn't ask for anything more and we will definitely go back there again.
Thank you.

Wonder why wildlife enthusiasts travel to the continent of Africa to have a glimpse of nature and wild life when you have the best of both worlds next door.

Being avid travelers, we know what we want from the wild. Having travelled to Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Ranthombore, Periyar, Bhadra, Pench, Corbett, Annamalai and Nagarahole to name a few, we were not lucky enough to have such a close encounter with the cats and the majestic tuskered jumbos of the jungle, as we did at Tholpetty and Jungle Retreat. We were there for two nights with the kids, and boy what an experience it was. Two days of a heavenly retreat - oops must say Jungle retreat.

Starting from the reservation process, which was confirmed promptly by the owner, Anil himself, giving us various options of accommodation and best rate available, it was unbelievable that we were offered ‘paradise on earth’ for such a fantastic rate.

We reached there with no difficulty as the route map given to us by Anil was most easy to understand even by my 11-year old daughter who was a self-appointed navigator for our trip to Tholpetty. We reached there just in time for a warm welcome by the 4-man army viz : Aneesh, Anil, Jinesh, Rejin – with Anil - being the Captain. (names mentioned in alphabatical order). We were treated to a well spread gourmet of a typical ‘keralite’ lunch with the most crispiest bangada fry. Time for rest in the luxury of the jungle retreat, with the birds chirping as our lullaby.

Hi tea on the watch tower with the dears and a tusker being our tea-mates. And then time for the 90-minutes night safari. Aneesh our guide-cum-chauffeur took us into the jungle in the night. Words fail to come easily to explain what we experienced – roaring sound in the silent valley, two sudden spots of moving lighting in the dark –‘that is the tiger watching us’ – so professionally explained to us by Aneesh- fresh foot prints of an elephant which choose to skip our company and pug marks of the big wild fella – Tiger.

Back to the resort for a nice dining experience with Jinesh whose culinary knowledge and hospitality skills left us challenging our own.

Next morning trekking into the jungles once again with the professional company of Rejin whose in-depth knowledge of the forest left us breathless. Close encounters in the depth of the deepest jungle with freshly imprinted glimpses of elephant, gaur, leopard footprints made our adrenalin rush triple its speed.

All activities including a visit to the 5000 year old Thirunelly temple were included in the package which was toooooo good to be true.

A salute to Anil for being so passionate about his dreams.

Hats off to you Anil.

Finally there is nothing that Anil and his comrades have compromised to make this jungle retreat a jungleeeeeee retreat. A MUST STAY FOR ALL WILD LIFE LOVERS.

Room Tip: Difficult to suggest since all rooms have super views of the jungle
