Check in was very good and friendly. Our room was clean and tidy. I did email the hotel before arrival to request a quiet room but they did not either get that email or did not fulfil that request so on a couple of nights we were disturbed by other guests arriving back a 3am singing in the corridors. The only issue we had was on the first night the A/C was not working we reported this to reception in the morning and by the time we got back later that day it had been sorted.

Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic in that we were sat at a table and sort of just left to it. It was quiet obvious that everything was buffet but as a 4* hotel I would of thought this still would of been quickly explained on sitting to us. We then had to wait a further 15 mins for coffees. Cooked breakfast on the first morning was all very greasy and congealed as it is all left under lights and had been there for some time so therefore put us of for the rest of our stay and did not try the cooked again.

We did not try Hardy's whilst staying at the hotel. We did have a drink in the bar every night we stayed and had varying service. The first night we had to play hunt the barman he was on his own and although no busier than any other night did seem to vanish at times. I did notice that the tables were left with dirty glasses and plates and the floor had food on it from where people had dropped thing on it and was just left. The second night the barman was very happy to take our order and then deliver the drinks to our table. The last night the bar was manned by 2 people and was served very quickly, but I would still like to think as a 4* hotel that table service would be a standard thing at that level of hotel it is at other 4* hotels. Something to think about perhaps.

Checkout on the last day was again quick and friendly.

Dear Lizd1373
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post a review. We are normally very conscientious about allocating rooms in line with guest requests where possible, without knowing your name I am unable to check whether we did allocate you a 'quiet' room. I am sorry to hear that you were disturbed by fellow guests, we do endeavour where possible to manage any guest behaviour that is likely to disturb other guests but sometimes it is very difficult to have eyes and ears in every part of the Hotel, particularly at 3am in the morning.
Thank you also for your comments regarding your breakfast and bar experience, we will take these on board and take action where necessary.
I hope that otherwise you enjoyed your stay and that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Hotel in the near future.
Kind regards
Keith Turnbull

We only stayed one night in the hotel, but it was the perfect starting point for a weekend break. The room was clean, spacious and well presented. The food was as expected, typical hotel bar food and the buffet breakfast well cooked and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for three nights. We did an advance booking as it was my nephews wedding.
Couldn't fault the hotel the room was brilliant so comfortable and quiet. The staff were great
The downside was the cost of the drinks!
The pool and restaurant were really good, brilliant choice at breakfast and all the food was fresh and topped up regularly

We booked an extra night as we enjoyed it so much

Room Tip: Best Stay at the back of the hotel as then away from the road, but I don't think it is too much...

Stayed at the Chase over the Bank Holiday Weekend as part of 2 couples this is a good standard 4 star hotel that is easy driving from the M5

Our first impressions of the hotel were very good the reception / bar and restaurant is very pleasant and well maintained

Our room was available when we checked in at 12.30 this was on the ground floor but this was not an issue as it overlooked the back of the hotel grounds, The room was again very clean and did not show any sign of ware and tare with a large comfortable bed

We were emailed 2 days before the weekend to tell us that we would not be able to eat in the restaurant on the Saturday as it was fully booked which was disappointing as you would think a 4 star hotel would have enough space in the restaurant for guest staying at the hotel. This was not a problem as there is a Toby Pub within walking distance of the hotel but the Toby is not the same as eating in the hotel restaurant

Breakfast at the hotel is buffet service with a very good choice of well cooked food
We eat in the restaurant on our second night and as some other reviewers have said the service is very slow waited 40 minutes for the drinks to be served and an hour for the first course the wait from first course to main was not as long. The time we waited detracted from the fact the food was OK as we only talked about how slow the service was.

There are some negative points about this hotel that if the management team would address could make a nice hotel an excellent hotel

Empty glasses are not collected from the bar area or the outside patio area which is not a good impression on the hotel. There was a wedding party in the hotel on the Sunday morning and the area that they had drinks in was left un cleaned for most of the morning again not a good first impression if you had just checked in

The outs side patio area seemed to be left un cleaned or check with food and cigarette buts on the floor and tables for non-smokers this a big put off to a hotel

But overall this is a very good 4 star hotel in a good country side location that is close to major road network and we would return if in the area and would recommend others to stay here

Dear Kevin J
Thank you for your very detailed and constructive review. It is much appreciated and we certainly take on boards your comments and suggestions for improvement; although glasses and debris should already be cleared from the patio area regularly and I will address this.
I'm pleased to hear that you appreciated our convenient location for seeing the beautiful area and hope that you will choose to return soon.
Kind regards

I first of all recommend that anyone reading reviews on The Cheltenham Chase Hotel, ignore all the reviews about this hotel being poor quality as those people are all completely wrong. My husband and I have just got back from spending 6 days at this hotel, and what a fantastic experience it was. We arrived at the hotel early, 2 hours before normal check in. We checked with the friendly staff on reception, and as our room was already for us, they let us on in. During our time here we dealt with wonderful staff, had brilliant food during the breakfast service and evening meals. Our King size room was perfect and was well cleaned. This has to be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and would recommend a stay here to anyone. We definitely intend on returning!

Room Tip: For the small price difference, I would recommend a King room.

We wanted a relaxing environment to stay so that we could day visit Cheltenham. The hotels in Cheltenham seemed pricey and we were not sure of parking. Bottom line.... a really good decision.

The Chase is a modern hotel, nicely furnished with comfortable rooms and a large, well managed restaurant. Plenty of free parking.

The breakfast buffet was very good and the a la carte meals in the evening delightful. We also utilized the local pubs ( not the carvery just down the road which was so fantastically hot) but rather the pubs the locals use. Excellent food etc.

This is a countryside hotel without a lot around it but that is what we wanted and would stay again without hesitation. A good number of business people meet there but there is no negative associated with this.

Everything about this hotel was fabulous from start to finish. I am glad I went back, shame it was for only one night. I was lucky enough to eat there Friday night and the meal and the service could not faulted in any way. They have got it right here now.
I love this hotel, would definitely be going back and would recommend it to anybody. The hotel is spotless, rooms are very comfortable, an absolute pleasure to stay here.
Location is ideal, thoroughly recommend this hotel to anybody.
