We've stayed here as a family a few times and I cannot fault this hotel at al! They catered for my two little ones needs no matter what they wanted they would get it for them, service and food was to the best standard, and the rooms we've stayed in PERFECT! we will be definitely back again this year!!

Wife and I took advantage of Living Social deal to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the Hatton Court.

It was everything we could have hoped for and more, the staff are impeccable and very professional, the room (No.12) although a little tired, had great views and was warm and clean.

Dining was a delight although the portions are not for fat boys.

If you are after criticism, yes the drive could do with a bit of tarmac and some areas could do with a makeover, but we will be returning.

Booked a three nights romantic break, lovely big room with champagne on ice on arrival. Not a massive choice in the restaurant but the food was delicious. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The staff are first class very professional, attentive and friendly. The staff turn this hotel from being just a hotel into a place which is
excellent highly recommended!

Room was a little small and you had to go back outside and up some steep steps to the rooms.... Good job it wasn't raining!

Service in the brasserie that night was really slow despite not appearing to be very busy and also two tables that arrived after me were served before me.

Didn't think pasta took so long to cook and also when it came out it was really tasteless.

My husband and I have just spent two days at Hatton Court Hotel indulging in a five course taster menu for one night and a three course meal on the other. The food was lovely, neither my husband or I are really into fish however when it was served to us as part of the taster menu we could appreciate that it was cooked well and presented artistically, as a result we ate food that we would not normally order. The wine list was ok, but we felt that the white wine was too cold, however the price was reasonable, it would have been nice to be offered a flight of wine to enhance the taster menu.

Our room was fine if a little small, we were on the top floor and as a result the slope of the roof reduced the size of the room and we kept hitting our heads on the slope. There was more than enough storage space, a useful fridge and a lovely large bathroom with useful toiletries. What was nice was a small carton of milk and 2 bottles of water supplied free of charge in the fridge, far nicer than those silly little individual miniature portion milks where you need at least two just to colour the tea/coffee.

All the staff we encountered were polite and professional, reception staff were efficient from the initial booking to booking out of the hotel, waiting staff were welcoming and friendly. All in all it’s a good hotel, nice restaurant we would visit this hotel again.

I booked a champagne arrival with two nights Breakfast and Evening meals.
Overall the food was good with convivial atmosphere.
The first night found us returning to our room with no heating! Freezing!
The night receptionist did what she could and brought a oil filled radiator to the room.
She was to report the matter and arrange an invoice adjustment to our bill.
The food was good with a restaurant overlooking the city.
The bar had an open fire that makes a place for a great pre/post meal drinks or tea/coffee.
Staff were always polite and helpful.
Cooked breakfast was particularly well presented and much better than the average overcooked and mad produced food found elsewhere.
Unfortunately no follow up for the invoice adjustment or indeed formal apology.
I had posted this review previously but appears to have disappeared.

Dear JuJu

Thank you for your review, i am delighted that so much of your stay was enjoyable. I am sorry for your heating issue, but I am glad my team reacted postively to resolve it. Sorry for the lack of follow up, I have not been made aware of your issue until this review.

I stayed here two nights last week on business. The hotel is like an old country hunting lodge, it has great character, I had a very nice room, the bar really was lovely with a nice fire place and an old English feel to it.

The staff were all delightful and very obliging, the food was exceptional, I had a rump steak both evenings as it was so good and the breakfast was also a lovely experience with hot food to order and a good selection, plus help yourself items of cold cuts, fruit and pastries.

The views across the valley are also lovely.

My only gripes was the shower gel provided was less than enough and the car park/driveway needs the pot holes attending too.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
‘Contemporary country house with the Cotswolds warmest welcome’ Set high on an escarpment overlooking the Severn Vale this 45 bedroom country house hotel lies between the Cathedral City of Gloucester and Regency Cheltenham. Hatton Court provides the right balance between traditional hotel service and all the benefits you would expect from a contemporary hotel. The Tara Restaurant is renowned locally. It is an ideal place from which to explore the Cotswolds. Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home the feeling is of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand. Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush. The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complemented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara Restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other’s company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room. The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good night’s sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. ... more   less
