We arrived to a warm welcome and easy check in. Our room was in the new annexe on the 2nd floor although there was no lift so be prepared for a climb or make sure you request a ground floor room if stairs are an issue.
The room was spotlessly clean although a little small but the lovely large corner bath in the bathroom was a lovely treat and added to our comfort. We stayed for 2 nights and ate in the restaurant on the first night. I had pigeon to start which was perfectly cooked and pork belly for main which unfortunately was overcooked and dry. The bar area was cosy and the outside seating area was nicely kept.
Breakfast was a triumph with excellent local produce cooked with care and hot meals made to order. The buffet offered a good choice of fruit, cereals, pastries and cold meats and cheese. The service was friendly and overall the break was very good value for money. Just a few miles outside of Gloucester but it had all the peace and tranquillity of the countryside.More
