A proper pub and not chi-chi-ed up ! Also no small vociferous children( much as we love them! )Had a smashing Sunday lunch and plenty of it to fortify us for a walk in a gale up the hill. The garden is very pleasant if summer visits, the staff are attentive and the drive among the lanes to find the pub is an adventure. I can't think anyone would be disappointed and urge you to make the expedition.

It's easy to see why this place is busy most nights, the atmosphere is quite unlike any country pub I have ever been to, its warm, cosy and very welcoming. Fantastic after a brisk walk up may hill, or for a heart warming dinner in the winter.
I'd definitely recommend the fillet steak (despite being one of the more expensive choices), mushroom stroganoff, lasagne, thai curry, chilli con carne and also their baskets of scampi and chips are lovely to eat outside on a nice day!
The location is absolutely breathtaking, a truly fantastic British pub with fantastic food every time - great to stop by for a drink mid way through a cycle or for a meal with friends or family!

Went for a family lunch, and had a very pleasant meal with friendly service, and well kept beer and cider. Portions were very generous and the place had a very nice rural pub atmosphere. Would definitely return.
