We booked two nights to go cycling in the Forest of Dean - just needed a base for B&B. We ended up eating dinner both nights too and the specials in particular were special.

The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. And the shower (once we got the hot water flowing!) was great - really powerful.

An added bonus for us was the live music on Saturday night (not every Saturday apparently).

Friendly service and very reasonably priced.

The Yew Tree was long established as a pub, but in recent years has enlarged its range with a series of hotel rooms in a chalet-like area at the rear of the premises. They are basic, but warm, spotlessly clean and pleasant. What's more they are not expensive to book, though the excellent choice of breakfasts is an additional charge.
Dinner includes some local specialities, but worth recommending is the salmon with dill sauce.
The landlord has a broad, welcoming, Vorest accent, and an easy, laid back ambience. There are numerous signs that indicate his pleasant sense of humour.
One warning: don't sit beneath the clock. It is full of surprises ;%}}}

Room Tip: The lower the room number the further you are from the car park and the children's play area.

We were visiting friends for a weekend break, we needed a base whilst spending most of the daytime in the forest of dean. Family room was located in the chalet to rear of pub with a small shared courtyard area outside with tables and chairs. New, clean and ideal for the three of us.. The beds and bed linen were wonderful, and it was lovely to return to after a long day cycling, to a wonderfully hot shower!
The Manager, Peter was extremely welcoming and was happy to help with anything,he even gave us a lift to a party in a nearby village. This is an ideal basic but clean place to stay if you;re planning a visit to the area. Only very slight issue, are the blinds being too light, especially with a child. Despite that we will definitely stay again as agood value for money., many thanks Peter for your hospitality!

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear of the property, are ideal as away from the main pub.

My friend and I booked a three night stay while we completed an airbrushing course just in Mitcheldean, we could not have been happier with our stay!! When I booked initially I was told they didn't have a twin room for our entire duration so they gave us the family room for the same price. Very clean and warm room to the rear of the pub, lovely big towels and a very nice comfy bed.....or 3!
We had breakfast all 3 mornings and couldn't have been more pleased with both the speed of service and quality of the food.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food ordered, Lasagne, ham egg and chips and hunters chicken on the second night, was incredible. For pub grub prices we were very impressed.
The pub is warm and welcoming and everyone was really friendly. We will see you in February when we come back for another course.
