“relaxing break”
Reviewed 3 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

my partner and I stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely relaxing time, the cottage was spotless, very cosy and warm. Unfortunately the weather was terrible so we couldn't venture out to the forest but we will definitely be returning in the summer to this lovely cottage.

“A cosy getaway for two”
Reviewed 11 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We had a lovely stay at Valley Mews. The property itself is modern and well furnished on the inside with everything you'd need for even longer stays (including scrabble, playing cards and DVDs for when the weather is not so good!) Unusually for village of its size Longhope has three pubs within walking distance of the cottage. Two of them aren't up to much: The Yew Tree and the Nag's Head neither of which had any real character. The former is at least reasonably priced and sells basic pub food. The Farmer's Boy Inn (about a 30min walk mind) is much nicer, cosier and does really good food though is a little more expensive. The Post Office/village shop is just 5 mins walk from the front door and has everything you'd need (A good selection of Alcohol and food) and is open until 8pm, which is a bonus. there's also a little bakery a little further up which does amazing bread and pastries for a very reasonable price...you can sit in and have your food and a coffee in there which is nice.

Getting around on foot can be a problem as lots of the busy roads don't have proper footpaths, which is a little perilous at night. Road noise is also a slight issue as an A road adjoins the back of the property.

All in all though a lovely place to stay.

“A Little Gem”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This property was ideal as a touring base for Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, even for trips into Wales. There's good access to all the major routes. But if you follow the lane the property sits on away from the main road it takes you into little villages, off the beaten track like Blaisdon and Flaxley. A flavour of the Forest of Dean. Chris and Gill, the owners, are friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome. The accommodation is over two floors, on the ground floor a bedroom with a large comfortable bed and built-in wardrobe with another small room containing full laundry facilities. A full bathroom is next door to the bedroom. A short flight of stairs leads up to a large loft room containing a fully equipped kitchen and living room. All tastefully and comfortably furnished and immaculate. Everything is immaculately clean. We had a great time and I would rate Valley View Mews as more than five stars if I could.

Liked best: The whole place was lovely to be in.
Liked least: Some people might be a bit bothered by the traffic on the A-road over the back hedge but it didn't disturb us.

“Very Cosy apartment”
Reviewed 8 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The apartment was spacious and had everything i needed for my 4 nights stay. Gill and Chris, the owners, were lovely and on had if i needed anything. They even left the heating on and milk in the fridge along with tea, coffee & clean beding and towels. The accomodation was very clean and very cosy and i could park right outside the door. I would recomend this for solo or couples.

“Amazing New Year Break <3”
Reviewed 26 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed at Valley Mews from 31st Dec to 4th Jan 2015. When we arrived on New Year's Eve we were greeted with a beautifully equipped, clean and modern cottage in a lovely location. Additionally, the kind owners, Gill and Chris, had left us a celebratory bottle of fizz chilling in the fridge which was such a nice touch!

The cottage is surrounded by lovely countryside walks and there is a village a short walk from the cottage which has a shop and post office. There are also a few pubs within walking distance (10-15 mins) but they are down unlit country lanes/roads so not suitable for walking to in high heels/boots :)

A short drive will take you to the gorgeous Farmers Boy Inn country pub/restaurant or there is the Red Heart in Blaisdon which is also a lovely little pub/restaurant.

The stunning Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are also a short drive away with fantastic scenery and woodland walks. One day we parked the car up near the Dean Forest Cycle Centre in Parkend and just walked through the forest - the scenery, rivers and trees were incredible!

Thank you so much Gill and Chris. We had the best New Year and would recommend your cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing break in Gloucestershire.

Two very minor tips for trip advisor viewees:

1. You may wish to take your own teapot if you like a brew from the pot.

2. Be aware that the satnav may not take you directly to the cottage. Ours stopped about 5 minutes further down the road and if you arrive in the dark like we did, it may be tricky locating Valley Mews. Lucky enough, Gill called us back quite quickly and directed us to the right place!

Happy New Year!!
