Having stayed in a good number of cottages both UK and European based. I feel I now have a little experience of what you get is what you pay for! The cottage itself from the outside looks quite nice and the surrounding countryside is lovely. We chose the area for its location in that it is off the beaten track and remote. Apart from the owners who live directly at the back of you. A positive start with usual cake and honey, most places give you a gift to start with which is nice but bearing in mind what you pay, I would do the same and then some! The cottage itself is needing a spruce up! Damp was noted in several areas of the property. The decor was looking tiresome - I don't mean the paint; mirrors, pictures, bathroom floor in need of grouting. Fridge didn't work properly, beds need replacing as mattresses had all seen better days. I'm rather baffled why some reviewers felt this was the best they had stayed in? We have paid less abroad and found better?! So yes do visit Warwickshire but don't pay over the odds.
Just returned from Christmas at Slade Farm Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location, looking out over fields, is perfect, no traffic nearby so ideal if you have little ones as we did. Nick and Claire had the wood burner going for our arrival, lovely Christmas tree and they also provide a delicious fruit cake and Slade Farm honey. This was our second visit and will not be our last. Lots of places to visit close by so ideal if you want to explore the beautiful Cotswold countryside. You will. Not be disappointed if you chose Slade Farm Cottage.
Couldn't fault our weekend away in the Cotswolds. The cottage was absolutely perfect - traditional yet with all mod cons, beautifully decorated, cosy and comfortable, and very well equipped. Location is great for country walks. Recommend the Red Lion pub in Long Compton for lunch after a long walk in the hills. Had all the kitchen bits and bobs for us to make a Sunday roast, and eat it out on the terrace at the front. Only bug bear was the lack of wifi signal but that was probably a good thing... Can't wait to go back to Slade Farm Cottage.
