“Would recommend to everyone!”
Reviewed 29 June 2009

The photos of the cottage just dont do it justice - it is an amazing place, very luxurious, huge bedrooms, all modern appliances and decor, plenty of space for everyone. We had a barbeque on the friday night and headed into Balloch on the saturday (taxi was £15 each way). The hot tub is incredible, fits 4 people really comfortably. The couple who own the cottage are very friendly and couldnt have been more helpful!

I'd recommend this to everyone!

I'm just back from a stay in the Old Schoolhouse and didn't want to leave! The house is modern but still manages to be really cosy and the decor is simple but stylish. The facilities are great - there aren't many self catering places where you have your own hot tub and the kitchen is large and sociable. The whole place is a really good size, so even if there's a group of you staying it doesn't feel crowded.

The area is lovely with some great bars and restaurants nearby. I'd especially recommend The Oak Tree Inn in Balmaha. The food is amazing and It's cosy with a wood burning fire in the winter, and outdoor seating overlooking the loch for the summer.

There is also plenty to do nearby - a watersports centre on Loch Lomond and lots of walks including Ben Lomond a short distance away if you fancy something a bit more energetic. It only took us about 40 minutes to get here from Glasgow and Stirling and Edinburgh are nearby too if you fancy a bit of shopping or sightseeing.

I'm already planning my next trip here in the summer. If the weather is good we can climb Ben Lomond during the day, have a BBQ on the decking outside the house and then sit in the hot tub with a glass of champagne to ease the aching limbs - bliss!

There are few events that are so memorable that do not depend on friends or people, but our short stay has left a deep impression more akin to a heart stopping revelation. I'm envious of anyone else who stays here. If you're in the area you wold be unfortunate to miss it - its a fantastic find! My wife and I were lucky to combine a business trip from NY to London with this rejuvenating retreat to Scotland. It was stress-free and much needed!

The accommodation is top. Large, modern and spacious; yet cozy and intimate with an attention to detail which surpasses even the best boutique hotels.
You have the freedom associated with staying in your own dream country home, albeit temporarily, surrounded by spectacular scenery. Dinners in the large luxury, fully equipped open plan kitchen were a social high point. My wife wanted to burn our passports and stay.
Located in one of the best geographic situations possible - You're only 25mins from downtown Glasgow yet you're on the banks of Loch Lomond in the foothills of the spectacular highlands surrounded by breathtaking scenery unrivaled in my travels. It's the perfect retreat or base to explore. Great outdoors, great local 'wee' bars; just all round fabulous
