Ok it was busy but tables not cleared. Took 10 minutes for staff to notice us, order taken, another 8 minutes, no sign of drinks, so we left!!

A good meal here tonight. We ordered the local fish and it was beautifully cooked although a top tip would be to ask the price first.
Would really recommend the quinoa cake starter with the local tomatoes

Enjoyed our meal here. Had an expensive Gallopardo fish (delicious but over-priced) and a salad. Friendly service. Around 11pm the staff got their guitars out and ainformal music session ensued. Good fun.

What a refreshing Spanish evening - no pop music - just quiet Spanish guitar - amazing friendly chef -owner celebrating a year of opening on 01 December. Great food and wine - much the best place in San Jose - and open all the year round

We visited the restaurant twice during our stay in San Jose and loved it both times! We had discovered it by chance as most of the other restaurants seemed either very "touristy" or were Italians (undoubtedly nice but not what we were looking for). El Octopus is located off the main "restaurant mile" and was visited mostly by locals (it seemed). The food was super-delicious (we had tuna both evenings), reasonably priced (we paid ca. 50 EUR for two - one starter to share, two mains, a dessert to share + wine/drinks) and the service was good and fast. One night we had to wait a little before we could pay, but that was not a problem at all. Would certainly visit again when in the area.
