We booked in for 1 Saturday night in August 2013. Parking in the basement was nearly full, but we could get our car in. the charges for parking are excessive and on check out, they tried to charge us twice for the parking. We prepaid for 2 rooms, and would only take a credit card imprint on check in for incidentals. I offered cash, but they refused that. They were adamant, they would only take a credit card. We eventually sorted that out. The 2 rooms were apart, on opposite sides of the main corridor. The staff gave our friends a bottle of red wine for their wedding anniversary, so that was very nice. The spa pool was quite cold and didn't warm up. Very heavy chemical smell too. The outside pool is not heated, so was freezing. Great for a plunge pool. The gym, sauna & steam room were great, but there are no towels other than hand towels. How do you dry off? The room itself was reasonably comfortable and had a small kitchenette including a microwave & 2 element cooktop. All the usual coffee/tea etc. things were there. The shower is over the bath tub with a shower curtain across. The bathroom lighting was ridiculous. Also, there was a vent, but not fan/extractor, so the bathroom filled up with steam immediately and you had to wait for the steam to clear before you could do anything else. We didn't eat at the restaurant, or use any of the other facilities. I'd stay there again, if I needed to. Overall, it was just ok, nothing special, especially for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room, on the inside of the hotel, eliminating any traffic noise.

The staff are very professional & friendly. My first room was not suitable & I was upgraded without any fuss. I found the rooms clean & comfortable & had a nice little balcony overlooking the pool & gardens. I was attending a football game & found this only a 15-20 minute walk to stadium & Westfields Shopping Centre a very close 3-5 minute walk. Only problem was that room service was extremely slow. I ordered a chicken caesar salad which took almost an hour to be delivered & also when I attended the bar it took the staff a good 15 minutes to serve me. I was the only one in the bar area being a Sunday evening (the bar staff was the same staff member who was responsible for room service)

Room Tip: The studio rooms are quite suitable but I found the apartments larger & friendlier. Trouble is...

The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Quite often a traveling companion and I were greeted by name as we walked in the door. The knowledge of the staff and memory of our needs and preferences is unusual in this day and age. The location near the bus and train terminal made getting around the city convenient. If there was anything at all to complain about, it would be the high cost of the internet access. However I have found that to be a common problem anywhere in Sydney.

Rooms were clean and reasonably quiet for the location. The room had all the expected amenities and the bonus of a mini kitchen allowed me to save a few dollars in dining out. The bathroom was spacious, and the luxury on in room Jacuzzi is something I rarely use but was awfully nice after a long day on my feet

We stayed here on 17 August 2013 and it was packed due to the Bledisloe Cup. Room was OK, but they didn't have any parking spaces left so we had to park around 10-15 minutes away - not happy. On entering our room, there was little coffee, and only 2 satchets of sugar and Equal. We advised the front desk when we went out to dinner and upon our return, yes there were some more coffee satchets, 2 more satchets of suger and no Equal. Come on guys .... really!!! Obviously your houskeeping staff aren't doing their job properly. We prefer the Parkroyal Parramatta they are miles ahead of the Mantra in everything and we are staying at the Parkroyal again this Saturday and will book there every month for our getaway time.

Dear Dee W,

We appreciate your review for Mantra Parramatta

Apologies for the inconvenience caused by the car park being full. Bledisloe Cup was a very busy time for the hotel and we are never able to guarantee car park as it is subject to availability.

We appreciate the constructive feedback and assure you that we will be discussing your observations with the appropriate department to have it resolved.

We do take all of your comments on board and value your feedback as an integral part of our continuing aim to maximise service to our guests and hope you stay back with us in future.

Great location 2 minute walk from Westfeild and many cafes.
Staff were friendly.
I got a great last minute price from wotif so great value for me but full price seems a bit pricy for what you get.
As others have written a toaster would of been good as well as more on the breakfast room service menu then eggs (which I'm allergic to)
You get parking for $15 which is good and covers you aslong as you like.
Room was quite small but comfy. Had a good night sleep and contrary to other reviews I did not hear traffic or trains in my room.

This hotel is in an ideal location in Parramatta, an easy walk to Westfield and lots of nice cafes and restaurants and an easy drive to Homebush Sporting venues.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel clean and well appointed generally. Nice bar area and dining room.

The room was a "studio" but a good size with a king size bed. Good to see hotplates and a microwave.

Unfortunately the bed was big but hard and uncomfortable. Such a disappointment for a four star hotel. The mattress and base looked like they were cheap and functional, nothing more. Yes, they unzip into two singles, but if they are uncomfortable, such a feature is meaningless.

I am always keen to check out the towel situation in the bathroom, as I find the bed itself and the towels really define a hotel. Again I was disappointed to find small towels, fluffy but small, and only two in total. The housekeeper was very helpful providing more towels both nights we stayed. I think all four star hotels need to invest in bath sheets, and two per person should be a minimum.

The underground parking was small and $15 per night and we were advised to not move our car if possible as we might not find a spot when we returned for our second night! We took this advice, and we were pleased to have a secure carpark for our second night.

We stayed on the third floor and on the Saturday night and there was some noticeable traffic noise from Parkes Street. Not a problem on Sunday night. If you prefer something quieter, a room at the rear of the hotel might be preferable.

We had breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning. We prebooked and it was $20 per person. The buffet was good, a fine choice of juices, fruit and cereals, and the usual hot food. I asked for and received gluten free toast and poached eggs, cooked perfectly. I think the breakfast was good value for money.

Great location, fabulous staff, clean and modern. With an upgrade of the beds and more and bigger towels, it would have been perfect ;) The bed alone means I will not be returning, but if you like a hard bed, this is the hotel for you!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a higher floor at the back of the hotel, not above Parkes Street.
