The hotel is in Argentiere, which is a nice little town in the Chamonix valley. It has everything you need- a couple good restaurants (Le Dahu is nice), bakeries, grocery store, post office, ATM, tourist office, etc.... The bus runs through the valley every 10-15 min and is free. It's about 10-15 min to Chamonix. You don't need a car here. Alpybus from Geneva airport can take you straight to your hotel. It close to Le Tour which is good for beginner/intermediates and to Grand Motets which has more advanced runs, but the bus can take you anywhere is there is not a long wait.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that does not face the street because there can be some loud partying at the bar a...

I've just got back from a 4-night stay here over Christmas staying in a comfort twin room with a balcony. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the town, and 1 minute from the home of the family we were visiting so the location was perfect for us. There are bus stops outside going up and down the valley and the station is a 2/3-minute walk. The hotel is a classic old mountain style building, it reminded me of school skiing trips many years ago!

The room was spotless and had chairs, sofa, and a balcony with furniture outside. The view from the balcony was wonderful, over the village with Mont Blanc in the distance. We found the bathroom a bit awkward, not an awful lot of room and there was a smell coming from it but it didn't spoil our stay otherwise I would have mentioned it at reception. We didn't take breakfast as we were eating with family but we were able to get tea and coffee in the mornings in our room. The staff were all extremely pleasant and I noticed that they spoke English to other guests.

We paid about 80 euros per night per room which for me wasn't the best value but I suppose when you consider the location and the price of alternative neighbouring accomodation I guess it is. I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting simple, pleasant accommodation, a warm welcome, and a great view!

Room Tip: Pay extra for a room with a balcony & view.

The visit to this hotel is a memory that has stayed with us. We found it an absolute haven. The location is great: right in the heart of the town and very near the telecabine and other facilities. The view is amazing: we watched the sun setting on Mont Blanc from our little balcony. The room (and the hotel overall) had loads of character and was very comfy. The price was affordable and the managers went out of their way to be gracious. Loved it!

This is now our favorite place to stay in Chamonix valley.
Came across this hotel by accident, were looking for some last minute unplanned accommodation due to poor weather. And what a discovery!
This is one of oldest buildings (if not the oldest) in Argentiere. Very good location, quite close to Chamonix and many attractions in the area.
Very clean, the cleanest place we stayed at in the valley so far (price is not reflection of that let me tell you), the lady at reception (do not remember her name, shame on me) was so nice, great breakfast, and absolutely exceptional value.

We stayed here for 1 night as we were on a walking holiday doing the TMB. Very friendly staff and lovely rooms
We had an evening meal in the town (Dahu) which was excellent but there was lots of other options. The breakfast in the hotel was great
Highly recommend this hotel

The good:
Excellent location
Excellent breakfast (the standard French buffet but with extras - eggs, cakes, fruit etc)
Variety of rooms on offer at different price points, so can be quite economical (the little singles on the 4th floor were so cute!)
Nice downstairs sitting area
Looks very posh from the outside

The bad:
The lift can be abit hard to catch - only really an issue if you are on the 4th floor
Rooms overlooking the street suffer from the noise of the bar across the road on a Friday night (but close the window and you are fine)
Internet didn't work (but all the bars around had free wifi which could be connected to in some rooms!)

In summary - I'd absolutely return to this hotel. It's more basic on the inside than it looks from the outside, but well priced and perfectly comfortable. We stayed in a double for one night and a single for 2 nights (I returned alone to this hotel after our hike because I liked it so much). The staff are lovely, very helpful. Nice downstairs lounge to sit and work/chill out in. Rooms are quite variable, I would view before deciding. Our first room (a double) was a little small but our friends had a really nice big room just down the hall. My second room (a tiny single up on the 4th floor) was exactly what I wanted, even though the layout was very odd and the bathroom flowed into the room (quite literally when you take a shower......) because it was really cheap at EUR38, so hard when you travelling alone much of the time.

Room Tip: view the rooms - they are all different and different prices

Best restaurant around is next door, great bar opposite, cash point & supermarket & tourist info office. Really nice "comfort" room, good bathroom, view of slopes at Grand montets. Bus stops very close, 10 mins walk to lift station. Helpful friendly staff looked up snow webcams for us & kindly let us keep room beyond the check out time so we could ski on our last day. Free WiFi :-)
