“Excellent for the price”

A very inexpensive but basic hostel accommodation at €17 per night. Under new management, very helpful and friendly staff. Beds were very comfortable. 4 bunks per room, top bunks probably a little too high for easy access. Only major issue were the showers which were very low pressure. An upgrade is promised. Breakfasts were excellent for €5 and dinners very good for €15, though portions could have been a little bigger. Overall we were very happy

Room Tip: All the rooms appeared to be the same, but top floor might be best to avoid noise from above, and at...

Thanks for staying with us Simon! Am happy to report that we have resolved the issue of the showers. They are now at a good pressure and always hot!
Come back soon to try them out!!

Gite Le Belvedere is a great place to stay. It was recently purchased by a new manager, Ben, who is actively trying to build an affordable gite (in a sea of Chamonix excess) with good food and a friendly atmosphere. So far, so good! This place will likely become a mecca for climbers, skiers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

The gite has a large dining room and common area on the first floor, with simple but clean bunk and private rooms upstairs. There is a ski and board locker in the entry foyer. Family style breakfast and dinner are available for a very fair price (5 and 15 euros); dinner, in particular, is excellent, hearty fare. You can buy wine or beer for essentially market costs. On my visit, there was an eclectic mix of friendly people who were gathered to enjoy skiing all day and socializing at night.

Perhaps the only possible downside for some people is that the showers and toilets are shared. Summer plans for Le Belvedere include renovating these facilities.

All in all, you can't beat this place. I'll visit again for sure.

Room Tip: Bunk rooms have sinks.

All the reviews written this year are spot on. Not sure what else I can add. Yes the price reflects the basic accommodation but you get so much more than that.
Warm, clean, comfortable, welcoming.
Fantastic Location.
The staff are wonderful - accommodating/knowledgable/great fun.
The food is excellent.

Having been to Chamonix a number of times I loved/preferred Argentiere, small but perfectly formed.
Whilst I'm normally a luxury hotel/chalet kind of girl, I will definitely be returning to the Belvedere. You can't buy what they've got.

Room Tip: I had room 8 'Mont Blanc Suite'. Can recommend this one but they all looked great.

First off, the staff of this place are fantastic - genuinely friendly, helpful and cool people. They also really know how to cook and when we stayed for dinner, the food was delicious.

Belvedere is simple, but has a real charm. This, above all else, is what draws people to stay. Consequently, we met a lot of great people also staying there and ended up socialising with staff and fellow residents in the many really good local bars.

I lived in Chamonix for a couple of seasons and can honestly say I prefer Argentiere. It's a much more authentic french alpine village, has a small but really charming selection of bars, restaurants and shops and is right on the doorstep of the biggest mountain - Grand Montets.

Which brings me to the location of Belvedere. It's 4 minutes walk to the lifts and also has great views in every direction.

Basically, I can totally recommend Belvedere. The guys who run it are fantastic, the atmosphere of the gite is lovely and it's great value for money. A true Chamonix/Argentiere institution.

Stayed here with my fiancé over half term and had an awesome time. Staff are attentive and very knowledgable, always happy and helpful. The option to decide on evening meal in the morning was a great touch, meaning we could be flexible. The food is superb for the money with similar quality to some of the top class chalets I have stayed in previously. If you want a well located, good value place to stay, look no further.

Under new management since the autumn, the young team now running the gite are friendly and welcoming. Vast improvements have been made when compared with the last couple of years, some of this is a work-in-progress but it shouldn't put you off. It's a good value choice for Argentiere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, it's quiter
