“Lovely place to stay”

The cottage is right in the centre of the village in a lovely square opposite the pub. Inside the rooms are modern and for the size of the cottage very well planned out. The kitchen has everything you need even a dishwasher and there was wifi and an Xbox for the children with a couple of films and games in the cupboard. Everything was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is a shower room and lovely and hot and powerful but I struggled to open the sash window to let the steam out so had to leave the door open. Plenty of literature re walks and things to do really well set out in a folder. We went to the Laggan outdoor centre which was great fun and for food to the Steamboat Inn which was lovely. The shop opposite has everything you need and everyone was really friendly. A lovely place to stay.

A lovely, very well-equipped and comfortable 'home from home' in New Abbey, a true gem of a village. The owners (Allan and Suzanne) were splendid; Suzanne provided us with lots of great local information via email before we arrived, and both were keen to ensure that we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Not only were we welcomed into the beautifully decorated cottage with fresh flowers on the table, but also local treats - very much appreciated after a long journey up the M6. The well-stocked village shop is steps away, as are the delightful Sweetheart Abbey, New Abbey Corn Mill, and Abbey Cottage Tearoom. The village is quiet and peaceful; the locals were friendly and welcoming. Surrounded by fabulous countryside and coast, we were in heaven! Our only regret is that we didn't book a two-week or three-week holiday with them - so much to do, so much to see! We very highly recommend Abbey Green and are already planning to go back as soon as we can....: - ) Many thanks!

“Excellent cottage in lovely area”

Quaint compact cottage which has been beautifully renovated, with thought given to what is needed when living away from home. Lovely garden with seating to enjoy the peace and quiet. With secure bike storage and hose to clean the bikes we made the most of being cycling distance from Mabie Forest. There is plenty to do and see within the local area.

“Cosy traditional Scottish cottage”

Cosy traditional Scottish cottage which has been renovated to a high standard, it has a double / twin room and bunk beds, a wet room, kitchen with all mod cons a living room with an open fire. Outside there is a secluded garden with BBQ and eating area. The cottage is situated in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in south west Scotland, it is an excellent location for touring, walking-lots of walks from New abbey and loads of places to cycle, and plenty of history, the corn mill and a must sweethearts abbey. We have been visiting this area for years and this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in and we will definitely be back again. Highly recommend it.

“A fantastic New Abbey treasure!”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

This is a fantastic cottage in the heart of the lovely village of New Abbey. The owner has done a great job of modernising this former croft with style without lossing the feeling of the building. The cottage is cosy (It has central heating and an open fire) and very comfortable with soft, fluffy towels in the wet room and crisp white linen in the bedrooms.

The whole cottage was extremely clean on arrival and the kitchen area has been very well planned with all the appliances one would expect in a holiday rent. There were even sharp knives in the drawer - one of my pet hates in holiday cottages when all the knives are plunt!

There's plenty of space for little ones to run round in the garden to the side of the house - plus a barbecue complete with table and chairs. The owner has thought of everything.

The village of New Abbey has plenty of things to see. There's a wonderful abbey at the end of the village which changes colour with the sun. Across the road from there is a wonderful award winning tea room. My husband's favourite is haggis panini! There's a well stocked shop directly across the road from the cottage, two pubs and a corn mill within 100 yards of the village square.

We were there for Easter and my husband took his bicycle - which was safely locked in one of the small 'outhouses' to the side of the cottage.

For walkers you can climb the hill to the Waterloo monument or follow some of the local walks - details of which have been left in the cottage by the owner. There are also maps there if you want to walk further afield.

All together we had a fantastic four night stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will most certainly be back.

“What a lovely little cottage!”

When we pulled into the square at New Abbey and saw the cottage, it just looked lovely. We went in and it was lovely and warm which was a good start. All of the rooms are very well appointed and very, very cosy.

The living room has a lovely open fire and very comfortable sofas and the adjoining kitchen is very clean and has everything that you would need for a cottage holiday. The additional touches of flowers and candles make it even better.

The wet room is fantastic! I couldn't get my 14 year old daughter out of the shower! Both bedrooms are very comfortable. The bunk room is small but there is enough room for a wardrobe and, I have to say, my daughter and I didn't struggle in this room at all.

The location of the cottage is great as the village of New Abbey is lovely. The people in the local shop were really helpful, as were the owners of the cottage.

Oh, and there is a lovely garden at the rear which is very sheltered.

We would definitely come back to this cottage.
