Hotel Hotel Punta Nord -Torre Pedrera

Reminder Our coach trip was out of season and many beaches, cafes, eating places and hotels were either not open or barley and making their finishing touches and that reflects the price we paid. We sill found lots to do and explore.

shearings coach was a Setra, good leg room and comfortable. Down side of trip was the two drivers were not used to each other and did not get on. Only drinks on board was coffee and tea. The coffee was bad. Lucky the hotel put water in packed lunch. back to drivers and driving their were several times when I and all of the passengers thought we were going to crash.

Would I stay in Hotel Punter Nord Yes I would. Would I go on trip again yes. Five course dinner, breakfast plenty to eat. Fantastic service. You get a ticket for the bar for drinks. They mark ticket every time you have a drink, unlike previous reviews There were no full tickets at end of trip, Measures were on the large side.

PS we had some great weather not to hot, just right for walking although we had some strong chilling winds at times, thankfully not for lone.

Room Tip: Top floor front hotel far right over looks beach

Positives: clean.

Negatives:
Two three-person elevators for six floors...
Bathroom door doesn't close.
One room had a "hole in the floor shower" right over sink and mirror.
Paper thin pillow. Noisy hallways (plastic floor).
Barely functioning balcony door.
Four stars? Really?

We have just returned from staying in the hotel on a Shearings holiday ! Firstly it was too far to travel by coach never again ! We got there at 2 o clock ish to find after our long journey no food in the hotel and nowhere to get any ...everywhere was closed down ! The hotel was just ok to put up with for the week apart from there was no fire escape we were on the 5 th floor which was very worrying...!!! Well there was one up the back of the building but no way on to it ..it wasn't attached to the hotel !! Outside round the pool was horrendous very unkempt ..disgusting and dirty ...we couldn't complain about the meals the waiters were about the best thing about the hotel 5 courses plenty of choice ! Breakfast was nt so good but i only have yogurt and fruit no toast or bacon ....Then in the evening through to the bar as there was NOTHING at all to do no entertainment ect and everything was closed down in the surrounding area ..only to find very limited drinks only cans of beer and a few spirits no brandy or vodca the wine was always warm not chilled and the bar closed at 10 o clock not long when the meal only finished at 9.30 !! Would we use this hotel again no never .

Room Tip: Just choose another hotel.....different rooms won't make any difference

We stayed here last week on a Shearings holiday and really enjoyed our stay. Downsides were that the all inclusive drinks were limited to small cans of beer, white or red wine, whisky or gin, tea or coffee, coke, orangina, orange juice, tonic water or bottled water. There was no lemonade available, not even to purchase separately as a mixer for whisky but the measures were generous and you got 36 drinks each for the duration of your 6 nights stay which was more than enough considering that you got unlimited red and white wine and bottled water with both lunch and dinner.
On excursion days you got a packed lunch which consisted of 2 sandwiches, usually cheese and ham, although as a vegetarian I got 2 cheese, plus each bag contained a bottle of water and a jam tart. Not brilliant but it kept hunger pangs at bay and if you purchased some crisps to go with your lunch the sandwiches were much more palatable.
Breakfast was ok for cereal, croissants, a wide selection of jams, yoghurt and prunes or tinned fruit salad. There were eggs that were cooked in large trays and not very nice as they appeared dried up and rubbery, the boiled eggs were far better and I enjoyed hard boiled eggs and cheese on buttered bread rolls most mornings. There was no bacon or sausage available and no toast machine. I personally don`t eat meat but a toast machine would have been a valuable asset to this hotel and management should seriously consider providing one.
Our first meal was the evening of our arrival and immediately we were welcomed by our waiters Vincent and Jurgen who both did their best to ensure we were looked after. There was a salad bar where we could help ourselves but the next courses were all waiter served. Vincent appeared to be the senior waiter and he ensured that the food I was served was all vegetarian. There was no menu so nobody knew what they were being given until it arrived, but a typical meal was first the salad bar, then thin soup followed by a course of either spaghetti or pasta, then the main course of meat and potatoes, no vegetables. The desserts were ok, we were given tiramisu one night which was delicious and there were desserts available at the side of the salad bar to help ourselves from but not much choice. We were surprised that there was no menu available but if we asked Vincent he would tell us, and there was also a self service section that was supposed to be for the non-English residents but nobody objected if we chose to select something from this section ourselves
There was only entertainment on one night which was a musician set up to entertain us in the restaurant, he played some English songs and didn`t object when someone from our party asked to take the mike and give us a song himself, then this was followed by other people having a go and some were even having a dance as the restaurant was quite spacious and highly impressive. All in all everyone appeared to enjoy themselves and it put interaction between our English party and the other nationalities staying there.
If you ate in the restaurant at lunch time, the service was just the same as evenings with a 5 course meal being served, all with the helpful, cheery Vincent who looked after our English party tremendously.
Our room was at the front of the hotel which was ok except for the tiny insects in the bathroom, but when we told reception they arranged for the floor to be sprayed and it got rid of them. Some people got mosquito bites so it would be advisable to ensure you pack repellent if you intend to stay here. Reception was very good and if you required anything they were always very helpful. The rooms all had a tiny balcony which we didn`t use as we didn`t spend much time in there but we needed the metal shutters down at night to block out the street light from across the road, and this ensured we got a decent sleep. The beds were hard and not too comfortable, but some people prefer a hard bed so it may not be a problem, but if you are tired enough most people can manage to sleep anywhere. The towels were changed daily and there was soap, shampoo and a shower cap provided and the floors were swept daily too.
The position of the hotel wasn`t bad, Rimini town was a 2 euro bus ride away that took about 20 minutes, but you need a map from tourist information to find the best shopping areas as the bus dropped us off at the railway station and there wasn`t much to see, but with the aid of a street map we were able to find our way to the main shopping area.
Nearer to the hotel there were shops, bars, hotels and a really nice beach but a lot of places were closed as the main tourist season was over for a lot of businesses.
The Punta Nord has 2 outdoor pools, a tennis court and a woodland area that housed a stage and dance floor area, but none of these facilities were usable and most of the outdoor areas appeared to have depreciated which is a real shame as it is obvious it was once a very grand hotel.

just arrived back from rimini staying at this hotel first impression yuk, but after a while it grows on u, food fine, staff great, rooms clean so what more can u ask for. try for a room overlooking pool as i stayed in front which was very noisy with traffic so had to keep door to balcony shut. we traveled with ledger hols, never done a overnight coach journey before and never will again,it was a contract coach no legroom and narrow leather seats ledger need to look at these coaches in more detail as it was no joke, drivers were fine but the journey has put me off ledger hols for any future holidays by coach and we have done many before this one, worst by far, poor description of hotel situation as i expected reading brochure that we were based in resort of rimini but no the rimini resort is about 25 miles long so we were out in the sticks 6 kms from rimini, nice beech but bu**er all else, sorry ledger not good.

Room Tip: go for rear rooms overlooking pool not so noisy but also check fire exits if on top floors we could...
