Lovely quiet place to stay with wonderful gardens to wander around and superb view.from room terrace whilst having early evening drink. Owners very friendly and obliging with meal times. large dogs very friendly Twenty minute walk into the village. We recommend Nutswood Park and Hogs back as a marvellous short stay venue.

We've spent two nights at Nutwoods Park and there is nothing to complain about this location. You get spoiled with delicious food. You are surrounded by a beautiful park. And the two hosts are wonderful people with an excellent eye for detail and needs of their guests. Highly recommendable.

We spent 3 nights here in November, chosen as a contrast from the Karoo. And it certainly was. We expected the mountains and forests, but it really was like entering another world after the Karoo landscape. As for Nutwoods Park, this was a perfect place in all respects, lovely accommodation, beautiful gardens, plenty of wildlife (plus very friendly dogs and cat), but the main pleasure was the food and the lovely welcome. For two evenings we were the only guests, so it was like having out own personal chef, the food was exceptional and although there isn't a menu, any personal preferences will be accommodated if given notice.
Whilst in Hogsback we walked through the forests to the waterfalls, and also spent some time walking around the extensive gardens at Nutwoods. Ideal place for a few days relaxing, would certainly recommend staying at least two nights to really appreciate it.

Nestled in picturesque Hogsback , this 5star restuarant (and guest house) is an experience of its own.
A warm formal setting in an artistic home meals are served.
Its a secret as there is not much advertising....
(just as secret as its hidden pathways in the garden)
Don't miss this romantic experience with superb food and service.

We stopped off for a night at this beautiful guest house and were so impressed we made sure to stop again on our way home.
Set in a magnificent show garden was special enough, but the experience just kept getting better.
We were treated to fine dining in the elegant ambience of the house filled with antiques and period pieces. Each course was a culinary delight and breakfast the next morning was just as good.
The comfortable beds and top quality linen ensured a great nights sleep and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I have travelled far and wide in South Africa and stayed at many exclusive and often way over priced guesthouses. All I can say is that this has to be the most underated or unknown guesthouse in the country. From the moment we entered the gates it felt like we were in the secret garden as potrayed by Francis Burnett. The heavy fog and rain added to the overall charm of old house neslted in the most stunning surrounds. Unbelievable room, large and really comfortable, awesome bed, really large shower, balcony with top notch garden views. Fire places in the old dining room and lounge were a real treat, we spent our time sipping red wine and getting lost somewhere between the burning logs and the rolling mist over the secert garden. The hosts, Neil and Atila are the best company, making for great conversation and providing good advice about what to do in the area. What seperates this place from other idyllic guest houses is the world class food prepared by Atilla, the mastero Spanish chef. My girlfriend is American and reckons it was the best food she has enjoyed since arriving here in the country. We ate our hearts out and got merry on the great wines offered by Neil before slumbering through a wild storm from 9 to 7, have not slept that well in years.

Hats off Neil and Atila, we will definitely return. Cannot believe this great value is right here on our doorstop.

Very comfortable and ideal for relaxing establishment. The gardens are astounding. The food is excellent. Mine hosts are excellent and could not be faulted in any way. Keep up the good work gents. Nutswood is a very pleasing place and easy to find.
