“Great pizza, but be prepared to wait!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

This was our second year in a row we visited Hogsback for the "Christmas in July" experience. Unfortunately it did not snow, but we had a great time anyway. On the spur of the moment we decided to have lunch at The Edge on the Saturday. It was very cold and windy so we loved the warmth of the fireplace when we came back from our walk to "the edge". We decided to have pizza, on which the waiter warned us to be prepared to wait quite a while as they only have one wood-fired pizza oven. We agreed, as we were planning to have a drink beforehand anyway. it suited me fine because there was a lady giving back massages and I jumped at the opportunity! No rush in this place - lekkerrrr!

“Great view but confusing menu”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We'd heard about the great view and good food. View is exceptional although the signage to the viewpoint was virtually non-existent. The signage for the food was even more confusing. To explain, we popped in at lunch time to book atable for the evening and noticed that therre appeared to be no vegetarian options on the menu. When we quiried this we were told thst there was a separate vegetarian menu!! Excellent. There was one at reception. The problem was that in the evening there was no vegetarian options or menus!! Apparently, we were supposed to order our evening meal at lunch time - no one told us!!!

At lunch time we were pleasantly surprised to be advised that bottled Guinness was available at the bar, very nice it was. We were less pleasantly surprised to see that the bottle was way past its "consume by" date. That said, the bar staff handled the issue very well - no charge!!

In the evening we planned to have a drink before dinner - be warned, no Campari was available and we had to compete with the football being shown on TV for attention from the staff.

The meal, meat of course, was OK but nothing special, and service was very slow - it must have been a good game.

“this time was breakfasts”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

We have had excellent dinners here on previous visits, but this time we had a few breakfasts here. ...and they were excellent! Amazing a la carte menu for breakfast including wonderful berry dishes, eggs of all kinds with wonderful choices for accompaniments. I said to the waitress on the first day we had b/fast that I didn't want it to end it was so good! Lovely coffee and cappuccinos. And of course you have a beautiful walk you can do around the Bluff right there!! ...after your hearty breakfast! So thankyou all at the Edge for our memorable family breakfasts we had there this time, sitting outside in the sunshine or under the tree. yes, you have a beautiful facility there, and you are an asset for Hogsback!!

Wonderful home made burgers, chips to die for. Had a selection of Tapa's for lunch the next day, so tasty. Great views. Coffee was very good. Very helpful staff when planning your day.
