“New Year Skiing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2013

A two star hotel with 4 star service and restaurant. Stayed for a week over New Year - exceptional Gala Dinner. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room compact, but fir for purpose. Plenty of storage for equipment - ski bus stops outside the hotel.
Very good value.

Only two gripes - flaky internet and limited TV channel availability.

Room Tip: No lift, could present access challenges to the less able.

Stayed in this hotel with my two children on a skiing holiday. The owners are very welcoming and offered to cook for us when, after a delay, we arrived at 11pm. The rooms are comfortable and clean and beautifully warm when you come back from a day outside in the winter. The restaurant serves local Savoie dishes, all very tasty including raclette and fondue. Lovely wood fire in the dining room adds to the cosy atmosphere and it was clearly also popular with non-residents. Wifi is available in the lounge area and the ski/boot room is also heated. The outside terrace was also very popular at the weekends and when we left the restaurant was busy serving customers for lunch. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would love to return in the summer months.

Experienced world-wide travelers (2) chanced upon this pleasant hotel/restaurant due to snow closure of planned route. We recommend this hotel/area as a destination summer or winter for quiet, small village atmosphere and plenty of nature/birding/walking opportunities plus skiing of course. The hotel is well furnished with cheering bright bedroom furnishings, clean carpets, cupboards, comfortable beds, and superb modern bath, and cheery dining room. It must really come alive in December with a bar area and pub. The dinner menu reflected local Savoie dishes ,which were excellent, and local beer on tap.
We have NO Hesitation in recommending a visit to this hotel. The owner is multi-linqual and discretely helpful.

The Hotel:
My husband & I stayed here over xmas 2008, and we were very impressed with the hotel. The web photos don't really do it justice as it is certainally not as dated as it looks. Our room (101) had a large balcony and brand new bathroom and a great view. Also the beds appeared brand new and perfect for a restful sleep.
Indeed compared to a 4* hotel we stayed in Austria last year, this hotel far exceeded our expectations for budget hotel comfort.
The home cooked evening meals were plentiful and varied, and the Chrismas Eve 5 course dinner was a real treat. Bernard and his family looked after us very well and we would definately return here at the earliest opportunity.
The Village:
As many reviewers have probably allready stated, there's little to do in Val Cenis during the evening, but if you are happy to make the most of your days and sleep well in the evening, then this is the place to visit. Indeed meeting up with return travellers at the airport who had paid £10 for 2 coffees in the larger resorts, they were very suprised that Val Cenis is half the price for most food and drinks.
The Ski Area:
Not in the least crowded, some lovely interesting runs for all levels and Termignon now connected by fast cable car is an absolute must to visit on your trip. We didnt ski it all in a week and although we try not to go to the same places more than once I can imagine this area being top of my favourites list for a long long time to come.

My partner and I visited The Etoile Des Neiges hotel in Val Cenis France between 26 Feb 06 - 5 March 06. We had a lovely time, the hotel staff are most welcoming considering its a mainly french area! The food at the hotel is fantastic, with lots of traditional savoie food.

The hotel was very central and has a very good reputation with the locals. Whether you are skiing as we did or going for a summer holiday this charming village is beautiful and well worth a visit.
We loved it.!!!
