“Perfect place to tour the REAL France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2011

My husband and I stayed for 10 lovely days with our little boy, we had a great time. The chene cottage is perfectly proportioned and it was so lovely to have use of the garden too. The family are veery hospitable and couldn't do enough to help out. Would definitely recommend staying here. The area is beautiful and the food is amazing. There is even a Michellin restaurant in the next village!!

We stayed here while touring in rural France. Stayed for 2 days and really wished that we had stayed for longer as fell in love with it. Alex and Nicole were great hosts, they were on hand when we needed to ask questions and gave good advice on where to visit, local supermarkets etc. The gite we rented had two bedrooms, excellent facilities, dish washer, oven etc. We visited here with my son aged 10 and they had a bike for all of us to use during our stay all included. We had our own lovely courtyard with full use of a barbeque. The gite was immaculet and more than enough space for the three of us. Had a quick look in the larger gite as it was being vacacted by previous guests and if, sorry no, when we come back with extended family, we will try to book this one.

We stayed in Le Chene cottage last June (2010) and it was just gorgeous very quint and romantic but with all the amenities you need. The interior was just beautiful and ALex and Nicole have gone to great lenghts to make the cottage so comfortable but yet keeping its original charm. Lots to do in the area - something for everyone - our
favouites being Loches,Montresor, the vineyeards of Chinon and Saumur and Amboise to name but a few ! Our hosts Alex and Nicole were also so helpful and welcoming - always there to offer suggestions and help if needed but without being instusive. Hope to return some day with our baby daughter next time as it seems very well catered for babies and children. Thanks again.

We stayed here in the Chene cottage with our 15 month old daughter. It had everything we needed and more. Nicole and Alex were so nice and the snack that was ready when we arrived was wonderful. The cottage was well stocked with toys and ammenities for our daughter to include a crib, high chair and tons of books. There was also a swing that our daughter loved as well as chickens and a rabbit to watch. Overall it was a great place to stay and very convienient for exploring the areas chateaus. The only thing that would have made it better would have been wifi.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent stay ay les Limornieres.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and its convenient location for touring and exploring the Loire Valley.

We do not currently advertise the availability of Wifi as we would not wish to overpromise this service.

Our location is currently served by slow internet connection of 512k, this combined with the 50cm thick stone walls leads to inconsistent signal..

However we understand when travelling internet access can be important in planning your next stop so we have made our own WiFi access code available in the cottage handbook to guests for them to try & we can suggest the best places to sit to gain access!

Also free Wifi internet access is available in the local village of le Grand Pressigny (3km) in the Tourist office or very conveniently outside the bar next door! This free 'town' access Wifi is available in the town and village squares of many French villages.

Once again thank you for your feedback, best wishes Alex & Nicole Crawford

We stayed with our 2 children who are 2.5 years and 11 months and had the most refreshing, wonderful holiday which definitely exceeded our expectations. The accomodation was beautiful- lovely and quiet and Alex and Nicole provided toys for the children in the cottage and there was plenty of activities in the garden too (chickens, rabbit, trampoline, swings, slides...) but it wasn't too intrusive which meant in the evenings you could relax outside with a glass of wine enjoying the stars without being overwhelmed with children's toys. It was great to arrive at the accomodation to a home cooked meal too so we didn't have to think about where to get our first meal from. The accomodation is beautiful and in an idyllic setting-only a short walk/cycle (bike provided there) to the village for those early morning delicious croissants and pain au chocolat, a chateau and a short walk to a friendly goats farm and dairy farm where you can pick up cheese and milk. There are some great day trips too which are all in an easy distance- Chinon, Loches, zoo so you can mix and match for you and the children. It was really lovely and I would thoroughly recommend it

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of a stay at les Limornieres.
We are very glad you all enjoyed your stay, it makes it all the more worthwhile and we wish you all the best fort he remainder of 2011.

For TA users planning a trip:

The Zoo mentioned was Beauval - a great example of a zoo and place for a day out for all ages.

The chateau mentioned is in the village of le Grand Pressigny - 3km. There are many more all around with most of the large well-known ones of the Loire Valley reachable via scenic routes in under one hour.

Loches 30 mins by car market day Wed and Sat am, Chinon 40 mins Thursday am.

We offer for guests to borrow - a range of differing size adults bikes, childs bikes, a child seat and a trail bar. The village is under 3km away via a quiet farm lane.

The local farms mentioned sell their produce direct at the regular local farmers markets, in local village stores and direct at the farm either by appointment, an allotted time or by stopping by and asking at feeding/milking time if it is convenient :D

This is our first visit to Loire Valley. We stated in Le Saule for 5 nights. We loved the house which is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped for you to make your meals with fresh ingredients bought from the farmer markets near-by.

There are many different towns and interesting spots to visit within 1 hour drive. Nicole and Alex is more than willing to tell you all the information and stories around the area. It is always good to get some advise from them before you going out. And of course they can speak English and you will find it is extremely helpful if you are non-french speaking, like us.

This is a perfect place for you to relax. You can lying on the garden's green enjoy the sun or crunch in the sofa with a book in your hands. You can easily find the moon comes out without your notice and you can count the stars, drinking a cup of coffee or tea.

There is a lot of mention about Nicole's cooking. We tried her carrot and coriander soup and roasted chicken. It is really worth especially if the weather is a bit chill and you will have your meal just next to the fireplace. And don't worry about the chicken, those were bought from the other farm. We did count the number of hens in Les Limornieres before and after meal.

We would like to visit again to see if Alex has finally turn the barn into their lovely home.
