We have just returned from our fourth visit to this wonderful group of cottages outside an interesting village, and we are already trying to sort out how to go again next year. The cottages -- we have now stayed in all three -- are thoughtfully furnished and sparkling clean. They are built around a central grassy area with lovely flower plantings, and each has a little space for outdoor dining. The owners, Alex and Nicole -- who are smart, funny, hard-working people -- thoughtfully put out toys and books for children and somehow manage to remember just how old our daughter is from year to year. She learned to read this year and, sure enough, when we arrived she found a cabinet full of age-appropriate books, which she immediately started devouring. She also loved bouncing on the trampoline, using the swing set, helping to feed the chickens and looking for eggs. There is a covered play barn that is great for rainy days and there are nice selections of children's videos should you need to resort to them. (There is also a nice selection of English-language paperbacks and videos for grown-ups in each of the cottages. This year, we discovered a hilarious British TV series that hasn't made it to America. We watched late at night, after our daughter was in bed and after we'd spent some time studying the wonderful canopy of stars.) Some of the most famous Loire Valley chateaux, such as Chenonceau and Chinon, are a pleasant drive away through beautiful country. Closer to the cottages, there are towns with lovely markets (along with big supermarches, should you need them), small chateaux, and old churches. Every time we visit, we feel as if we have just scratched the surface of what there is to see and do. But it's also compelling to just sit in a chair and read a book or nap in such a relaxing environment. Alex and Nicole are the perfect hosts, happy to chat but never intrusive, and have compiled lots of information about the area. Highly recommended. We can't wait to return.

We always come with the kids but this place would also be great as a romantic destination "à deux". The cottages are rustic and beautiful but filled with all the mod cons. There are plenty of kids toys, activities and entertainment thrown in, not to mention the loan of more if you want it (bikes etc). Nicole's cooking is marvellous, in fact, it's a bone of contention with my hubby that he says her salads and desserts are better than mine(!).

If you just want the perfect, pretty, quiet place to disconnect from the world, read books, lounger around, eat, drink and be merry: this is it.

This is our... em... 5th visit(?) and we will, as always, be back for more.

My family (2 adults + 2 kids, ages 10 & 12) spent three nights at Les Limornieres. The rooms were beautiful and just right, the bathroom was very clean and had nice new fixtures. There was a carafe of wine and some fresh strawberries waiting for us. I give it high marks.

There is good dining in Le Grand Pressigney, albeit limited options.

The hosts are terrific - friendly, but left our family space to relax.

My husband and I just loved this accommodation. The hosts, Nicole & Alex, were very friendly and helpful when it came to advising on tourist sites to visit. We were welcomed with some wine, bread and delicious local cheeses. We took advantage of the bikes available there, and the nearby roads were perfect for going on leisurely rides. Les Limornieres was close to the village of le Grand Pressigny where we discovered a great patisserie. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to couples as well as families, as there are plenty of outdoor toys and facilities for children.

What a blissful little spot to chillax! We stopped at Les Limornieres for 3 nights en route to Paris (from Barcelona). The cottages are delightful and chockful of thoughtful touches. We spent a very pleasant day just sitting in the beautiful garden reading and soaking up the sun before embracing the Loire area and its amazing Chateaux. Nicole and Alex are lovely hosts , happy to offer local advice on what to do and where to go. They have created a haven, particularly for young families in search of sun and peace and quiet, whilst sampling the best that the Loire Valley has to offer. Thank you so much guys for a memorable stay.

We had a very enjoyable 7 nights at Les Limornieres with our toddler, aged 21months. The welcome snack of baguette, cheese, caraffe of wine and fresh salad from the garden was much appreciated after a long journey. The hosts Nicole and Alex are warm, friendly people and very helpful.

Our cottage, Noix, had two rooms upstairs; one twin & one large double bedroom which was set up as a room for kids. The kids room had lots of toys and a little play kitchen, really perfect for keeping children entertained in the morning.

The gite really had everything we needed for our stay, kitchen had all the right appliances, the sitting room was small yet comfortable; there was a TV and a selection of DVDs for those rainy days, which we unfortunately got.

There is also a large shaded space in barn with table and chairs plus toys. Very suitable for sitting and reading no matter what the weather.

The garden was beautiful and for me it was very relaxing (had a calming affect). Our little boy enjoyed walking around it and going to see the chickens. There was also a trampoline, swings and a slide.

On one of the days, we made use of the bikes that are provided by Nicole and Alex. There are wide selection of bikes and some are equipped with a child seat. We cycled from the cottage through Grand-Pressigny to Chaumussay and returned the same way. The roads felt safe and the route was very beautiful.

A few day trips: Loches is not very far away, around 30minutes drive, and worth a vist on market day to have lunch. Zoo Beauval was amazing and is about an hour away. We went to see the Chateau d'Usse, which is a drive of 90minutes but worth it as it was a pretty amazing chateau.Try Grand Ma's in Grand-Pressigny for some lunch. Also, Grand-Pressigny has everything you might would need for bits and pieces: excellent baker, shop, pharmacy and a spar shop. There are also a few bars.

Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we would highly recommend.

This was a perfect place to go to round out our France trip (spending the rest of our vacation in Paris). It was easy to get to from the airport. Took the train to Tours, then rented a car. The hosts are lovely, helpful and friendly. Their recommendations for things to to were thoughtful and perfect for day trips. We will definitely be back, this time with our kids. Such a perfect place!
Initially we had planned to stay in Amboise and a brief stop off in that town on our way back to the train station in Tours confirmed that we made the right choice. I recommend bypassing the more touristy towns to spend time in a more authentic country-side location. Even though we don't speak French, everyone was helpful and nice. Highly recommend this area and specifically this lovely place.

Room Tip: We loved the cottage which was the original farm house. Perfect for a couple.
