“Great private beach”
Reviewed 24 January 2014

We hiked here from the Radisson Blu. You can only get to the beach by hiking in through the nature reserve. It's worth the effort. Beautiful, quiet, private. We saw 2 other people there in over two hours.

“Must do!”

Tough pedestrian ride in a mountain through rocks and cactus before getting to a beautiful and nice small beach.

“My favorite place in Sint Maartin”
Reviewed 14 December 2013

We have been vacationing in St Marten now for 15 years, and stay about 3 weeks every year. It has taken us years to really enjoy every part of the island. This gorgeous little beach is the most beautiful, calm place. It is gorgeous with mountains surrounding it, overlooking Anguilla. Boats come in and out. People lay about, swim, and relax. It has a European atmosphere, and is very family friendly and quiet; unlike the famous Orient Beach which is loud, much happening, and rougher waters. You can also hike all around this area, as there are hiking trails through the mountains, and also take a walk down to view the boats. It is rather expensive; you will pay in Euro. Food and drinks are wonderful, European style. Just a warning, getting down to the beach is a long way up a steep winding mountain, and a long way down the other side of a steep winding mountain. Perhaps why the beach and area is never overcrowded.

“Want to get away...”
Reviewed 11 October 2013 via mobile

This is the most romantic beach in SXM. It is well worth the trip in from either side and the hike is unique either way. My wife and I both feel a great deal of accomplishment once you see the white manicured sand.

Depending how you come in you'll probably feel like you are headed in the wrong direction. We did the first time we went from either direction. Coming in from the dump can be pretty difficult due to walking on coral and rocks along the shore. The Anse Marcel starting point is pretty challenging near the end but not as scenic as the shore route from the dump. If you have the time then walk the entire loop.

We usually hike in our lunch for the day and plenty of liquid refreshment to make the most of the day. We have seen other couples arrive and splash in the water for 15 minutes and then take off. Much easier to pack light. We try to plan accordingly so we can enjoy this peaceful Caribbean beach. The beach is so much different then others due to its unspoiled surroundings. When facing the water and watching the waves crash upon your toes in the sand you won't have the typical SXM beach experience, no villas, hotels or residents behind you watching from above. You won't find any vendors or even children unless they come by boat due to the remoteness of the location.

The waves are usually pretty high for SXM and they do cloud the water for snorkeling so I wouldn't worry about packing any gear. You probably won't find the water to be as relaxing as other beaches.

This is the beach for the new Tough Mudder generation. It might take some teamwork to arrive but well worth the effort and sacrifice.
