“Beyond all expectations!!! Fabulous experience in every way!”

Last fall I travelled to many villas and guesthouses in Provence, looking for the ideal spot to host a yoga retreat. Villa T. stood out, and after a very productive correspondence with Phillipa, the delightful owner, I chose it hands down.
Every step of the way, from planning outings and menus and transportation issues, Phillipa was a delight to work with. We were able to hire her to provide our yummy, fresh daily breakfasts, aperitifs & appetizers on the gorgeous pool terrace, an five 4-course gourmet dinners for the 11 of us.
The villa was stunning, the rooms warm, spacious, beautifully appointed and decorated, the food was fabulous [Phillilpa even provided wines with dinner], the location perfect ... we all felt not only welcome, but like visiting friends.
Phillipa was wonderful. She even provided yoga mats for us! She was always there for tips and guidance, or to just exclaim over our purchases and stories. She helped us find rental bicycles and to plan outings. We were fighting over who would get to take her home ...!
Thank you, dear Phillipa, for making your beautiful home feel like our own. We will surely be back!

“A spectacular villa with generous well laid out accommodation, beautiful pool and outdoor areas”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Villa Theophile provided all that could be asked of a holiday villa for our extended family - unlike other villas accommodating large parties, the bedrooms were not small and subdivided - some were indeed spectacularly grand. The bathrooms were also generous and well equipped. The villa was spotlessly clean. Downstairs the rooms provided living space that could cope well with our party of twelve people; on the odd day when it was wet we could easily all chill out in the lounge or join those playing table tennis in the ballroom. The pool was very special and the focal point of much of our stay. We made extensive use of the outdoor eating facilities and barbecue. When not by the pool we enjoyed walking the tracks in the foothills of the Dentelles and one of our party even found the energy to cycle up nearby Mount Ventoux. To shop we drove to Intermarche some 10-15 mins away, and visited the local village baker and market garden stall. The Villa owner and caretaker could not have been more helpful. We've already booked to return next year!

Liked best: the pool and bedrooms
Liked least: very minor things - the dishwasher was difficult to stack and we could have done with some large casserole pots and serving spoons!

“A beautiful chateau in the Gigondas wine country”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Having spent a week at Villa Theophile with our extended family, celebrating my mother's 90th birthday(!) in an area my parents loved, I can only say that this was a pleasure from beginning to end. The chateau sits below the limestone Dontelles and looks out over the village of Vacqueyras and its vines, as well as a lovely landscaped garden of c. 4 acres. The rooms are large, comfortable and well-furnished. We slept 12 adults and a 3-year old and enjoyed the lovely pool (fully alarmed for small children), barbecue and very well-equipped kitchen, all of which we used extensively. We celebrated our arrival on the first evening in the lovely dining room and after mother's birthday (celebrated at a very good restaurant near Gigondas) managed a rendition of Flanders & Swann in the ballroom round the piano - where table tennis was popular with the younger members of the party. Local wine domaines, especially La Garrigue, and markets provided entertainment close by and some of the party mountain climbed and one conquered Mt Ventoux on a hired bicycle. The owner is charming and attentive and the caretaker helpful but unobtrusive. We hope to return.

“Gorgeous tucked away castle”

This stunning old villa is a hidden gem in a great wine district of Provence, renovated carefully with all the commodities you'd require for a great holiday. You don't fully grasp the space it has to offer until you set your foot in the ballroom compete with stone staircase, marble floor and a grand piano. Villa Theopile is located a short walk or drive from Vacqueyras, a sleepy village with a genuine French feel. Not to mention all the vineyards around the property, its hard not to enjoy the view of rows of vines right outside your bedroom window. The outdoor area has an fountain surrounded by maple trees and the area linked to the kitchen leads right out to the pool and barbecue/entertaining area (including tables, lounge chairs, a couch the whole 9 yards). All the rooms in the house are spacious and personalised, none of which look the same as the other. Don't miss the great view of Les Dentelles from the little observatory at the top of the garden.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Villa Theophile and hope to return some day!!!

Brilliant accommodation. We had 14 people in our group and you wouldn't know it. House is well appointed, everything you need. Grounds are immaculate and the caretaker is on hand if you need. In walking distance to the town of Vacqueyras which if you are fortunate enough to be there for Bastille day is a must. Highly recommend this Villa.

I stayed in villa theophile for a week in the month of July, I can say I have never stayed in a place so amazing! a huge chateau with more then enough room even with 14 people staying in the one place, everything about the chateau was beautiful, the pool area especially for the summer heat! A short walk to the town of Vacqueres (would very much reccomend the wine festival), Ian the caretaker was very helpful and certainly gave everyone privacy throughout our stay, all in all I couldn't recommend staying at villa theophile enough with the amazing stay we had!

This was a great holiday rental meeting all our expectations. All of the rooms were very large offering plenty of space even for a large party. The pool area was great and the pool kept clean. The location offered easy access to local shops as well as places of interest.
